Jaguars | Trio could return if price is right    Fri Mar 1, 09:47 PM

Impending free-agents QB Jordan Palmer, RB Jalen Parmele and OL Steve Vallos each could be retained by the Jacksonville Jaguars if they come back as minimum wage players.

Footballguys view: We'd like to see Parmele stick around. After years of waiting for his opportunity to start we saw Parmele get a shot in 2012. In a week 11 game against Houston he had 24 carries for 80 yards. The next week against Tennessee he started out strong with 8 carries for 45 yards until getting knocked out from the contest with a groin injury.

Footballguys view: Parmele is out for the season but could return to the team next year. The journeyman finally got his chance to start and went down with this injury after a couple of weeks. It crushed his re-draft value, and is a big hit to his dynasty stock as well.

  Ravens | Two re-signed    Sat Jul 30, 01:42 AM

Ravens | RB Parmele the favorite behind Rice?    Mon May 9, 04:59 PM

ProFootballWeekly.com reports many expect Willis McGahee to be released when free agency transactions are allowed. The competition for carries behind Ray Rice could come down to unrestricted free agent FB Le'Ron McClain and veteran Jalen Parmele. PFW says they've heard the Ravens really like the former Toledo star.

Footballguys view: Parmele is one of our favorite unknown RBs in the league. He is a strong runner with enough speed and elusiveness to make a difference at the second level. Parmele is a good receiver out of the backfield and looked good returning kicks for the Ravens last year. The team has been waiting to give him more of an opportunity and this season it could finally happen. Rice's fantasy owners take notice as Parmele may be the correct handcuff behind the diminutive superstar.

Ravens | Jalen Parmele extended original round tender    Tue Mar 1, 02:36 AM

The Baltimore Ravens extended restricted free agent RB Jalen Parmele an original pick tender, according to Aaron Wilson, of the Carroll County Times.

Footballguys view: The Ravens had better be careful here. Parmele is one of the most talented backups in the league, and could start for some teams in the NFL. They want to keep him around, especially since Willis McGahee should not be back.

Ravens | Jalen Parmele in line for larger role    Wed Feb 23, 10:43 PM

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Jalen Parmele is expected to see a much larger role in 2011 if the team releases RB Willis McGahee as expected, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora. 'They'll have someone like Parmele get carries,' La Canfora said. 'The Ravens could draft a running back or make a play for a free agent as well, but they like Parmele. I can tell you that.'

Footballguys view: Parmele is one of the most talented backup running backs in the league. He is versatile and can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield. We feel the Ravens will be more than okay with Parmele as the primary backup behind Ray Rice.

Ravens | High on Jalen Parmele    Wed Feb 23, 02:33 PM

The Baltimore Ravens coaching staff is believed to be high on RB Jalen Parmele, reports Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun.

Footballguys view: We're high on Parmele too. He's strong enough to run between the tackles, but has enough elusiveness to be a factor in the open field. Parmele is also a very good receiver out of the backfield.

Ravens | Jalen Parmele expected to return kicks    Fri Dec 24, 08:00 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Jalen Parmele is expected to serve as the team's primary kickoff return man in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns with WR David Reed (concussion) ruled out, reports Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun. 'My biggest thing is no negative plays, which means 100 percent security, 100 percent catches and making positive yards,' Parmele said.

Ravens | Willis McGahee could start Week 4    Tue Sep 28, 02:06 AM

If Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice (knee) cannot play during Week 4 due to a bruised knee, RB Willis McGahee would get the starting nod against the Pittsburgh Steelers, reports The Associated Press. FB Le'Ron McClain will also likely see more carries, and the team could look to involve RB Jalen Parmele into action, too.

Footballguys view: McGahee is more than capable of being a successful starting running back in this league. However, the Ravens are playing the Steelers this week in what likely is going to be a slugfest for the ages. It's difficult to imagine the Ravens doing much on the ground against their most hated division rival.

Ravens | Willing to move Willis McGahee?    Thu Aug 12, 11:34 AM

The Baltimore Ravens might be willing to move RB Willis McGahee because of their confidence in RB Jalen Parmele, reports The Baltimore Sun's Jamison Hensley. Baltimore believes Parmele can grow into something more than just a special teams player. Parmele was also drafted by offensive coordinator Cam Cameron when Cameron was the head coach with the Miami Dolphins in 2008. Parmele is No. 3 on the depth chart and a near certainty to make the team.

Footballguys view: McGahee could start for other teams across the league, but he's backing up Ray Rice in Baltimore. We feel Jalen Parmele can be an effective runner with increased playing time. He's a versatile player with the right mix of power and speed. Parmele is also a great receiving option out of the backfield.

  Ravens | Parmele re-signed    Fri Apr 16, 03:30 PM

Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Baltimore Ravens have re-signed exclusive rights free-agent RB Jalen Parmele. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Parmele filled in as a return man for the Ravens when CB Lardarius Webb went down with an injury last year and did a fine job. He's the third-string RB behind Ray Rice and Willis McGahhe, and shouldn't get too many carries (if any) unless one of those two go down with an injury. If he does get a bigger opportunity we feel that Parmele could be a productive back. He's an instinctive runner who is very versatile and can be a good receiving option out of the backfield.

Ravens | McGahee, Pryce, and T. Smith could be trade bait    Wed Feb 10, 06:41 PM

BaltimoreRavens.com reports for a franchise that loves to stockpile draft picks, the Ravens could be in the market. And Baltimore has valuable goods to deal. In running back Willis McGahee and defensive end Trevor Pryce, the Ravens have two proven, high-caliber veterans who were supplanted on the depth chart by younger options in 2009. In backup quarterback Troy Smith, Baltimore has a potential playmaker looking for an opportunity.

Footballguys view: McGahee flashed the ability that made him a first-round pick many years ago with the Bills. Pryce could help a team that wants to create a stronger pass rush. Troy Smith wants to prove himself as a starter in the NFL, and may get his shot this year. If McGahee is moved it would make talented Jalen Parmele the main backup behind Ray Rice. If Troy Smith moves on to greener pastures it would make John Beck the #2 behind Joe Flacco.
