NFL | Preston Parker gets three years probation    Wed Jun 29, 02:06 AM

Free-agent WR Preston Parker (Giants) received three years of probation after pleading guilty to drug charges Tuesday, June 28. He is hopeful of resuming his NFL career at some point.

Footballguys view: We highly doubt that Parker plays in the NFL again.

Saints | Preston Parker works out    Mon Nov 9, 01:45 PM

Free-agent WR Preston Parker (Giants) worked out for the New Orleans Saints Monday, Nov. 9.

Footballguys view: Parker hasn't been on a roster since the Giants released him in September. The Saints are likely just updating their emergency list here, and no signing is imminent.

Giants | Preston Parker to work in slot    Sat Sep 12, 10:02 AM

New York Giants WR Preston Parker is expected to be used as the slot receiver against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 because of WR Victor Cruz's (calf) injury.

Footballguys view: Parker has good quickness and run-after-the-catch ability. He did have a nice game last year against Seattle (7-79-1), and Parker makes for a cheap play in high-entry DFS tournaments.

Giants | Preston Parker to see more snaps?    Wed Apr 15, 11:34 PM

New York Giants WR Preston Parker has worked in the slot, and he could see time in three-receiver sets if WR Victor Cruz (knee) is not ready for the start of the regular season.

Footballguys view: Parker could be a decent slot man if he can win the job over Dwayne Harris or Kevin Ogletree. The Giants may have to scramble a bit at the wide receiver position if Cruz isn't ready to begin the regular season. Perhaps they'll select a wide receiver at some point in the draft this year.

Giants | NY committed to Rueben Randle?    Mon Feb 23, 01:17 PM

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle appears to have the commitment from the team heading into next season after being benched twice in 2014. However, general manager Jerry Reese left open the possibility that the team could draft another receiver this year. 'I think Rueben gets banged on a lot. Sometimes he should get banged on, but I think he gets banged on sometimes a little too much,' Reese said. 'I think he is a good, young player and all he needs are some chances. With Odell and Victor, I think he will get plenty of chances.'

Footballguys view: Randle is--and has always been--inconsistent as a receiver. The Giants are set up top with two star receivers in Cruz and Beckham. Preston Parker, Corey Washington or Marcus Harris could be backup plans if Randle doesn't pan out.

Giants | Friday injury report for Week 14    Fri Dec 5, 02:00 PM

New York Giants OT James Brewer (concussion) and LB Jacquain Williams (concussion, shoulder) both did not practice Friday, Dec. 5, and have been ruled out for Week 14. LB Mark Herzlich (concussion) was limited in practice and is questionable. DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), LB Jameel McClain (knee) and CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back, shoulder) all were limited in practice and are probable. WR Preston Parker (knee) fully practiced and is probable.

Giants | Preston Parker dealing with ankle injury    Tue Nov 4, 02:22 PM

New York Giants WR Preston Parker (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the team's Week 9 game, but head coach Tom Coughlin did not sound very concerned about it.

Footballguys view: Don't be concerned about it because Parker may not see much playing time after a poor performance on Monday Night Football. In deeper leagues, we're more excited about Corey Washington.

Giants | Preston Parker in boot    Tue Nov 4, 01:05 PM

New York Giants WR Preston Parker (foot) was wearing a boot on his left foot after the team's Week 9 game Monday, Nov. 3, but his status is unknown.

Footballguys view: You could have pushed a shopping cart with a bad wheel at the Colts defense for Eli Manning to throw at, and that would have been a better target for the Giants than Parker was on Monday night.

Giants | Preston Parker work in the slot    Thu Oct 23, 12:55 AM

Giants | G-Men comfortable with WR options    Tue Oct 14, 01:07 PM

New York Giants WRs Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr. are acceptable options to replace WR Victor Cruz (knee), according to head coach Tom Coughlin, with WR Preston Parker in the slot position. The Giants are content in not trading for another receiver from outside the organization. The only other healthy receiver on the current roster is WR Corey Washington.

Footballguys view: We'll see how this shakes out in the near future. Randle and Beckham are the primary players to focus on here. We like Beckham's athleticism and upside better, but he's been slowed down his rookie season by a nagging hamstring injury. Randle has the experience edge, but his play has been plagued by concentration problems throughout his career. Parker is also an interesting player to keep an eye on--but only in deeper leagues.

Giants | Odell Beckham could play the slot    Mon Oct 13, 04:06 PM

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. could move to the slot with WR Victor Cruz (knee) out for the season, but Beckham has never played the position. WR Preston Parker filled in in the slot in Week 6 when Cruz was injured, and he can play on the outside, too. WR Corey Washington has worked exclusively on the outside and could see some more opportunities in the offense with Cruz out.

Footballguys view: The Giants have some options here. We think Beckham is best suited to play on the outside where his speed can take the top off the defense. Parker might be the best fit at slot now that Cruz is out for the year.

Giants | Odell Beckham quickly ascends    Fri Oct 10, 10:03 PM

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring) was eased back in his regular season debut in Week 5, coming off the bench behind WR Preston Parker. However, he played a major role as the No. 3 receiver in the second half, and he posted his first touchdown. He played 35 of 68 snaps (51.5 percent), and that role is expected to grow moving forward.

Giants | Odell Beckham to be used more?    Fri Oct 10, 04:41 PM

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. played 35 of 68 offensive snaps in his NFL debut in Week 5, and that figure is expected to increase moving forward. He sat behind WR Preston Parker in the first half against the Atlanta Falcons, but then played a huge role as the No. 3 receiver in the second half with the team trailing. Beckham showed great athleticism and scored a touchdown in the game.

Footballguys view: Beckham should be owned in all leagues, although his emergence could cap the weekly upside of Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, and Larry Donnell, while increasing Eli Manning's scoring potential.

Saints | Preston Parker impressive in preseason game    Sat Aug 10, 04:04 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Preston Parker caught a pair of touchdown passes in his team's 17-13 win over the Kansas City Chiefs Friday, Aug. 9. Parker is trying to earn the No. 3 receiver spot on the roster.

Footballguys view: Parker is fighting with Nick Toon, Andy Tanner and Kenny Stills for the third receiver spot and all of them played well Friday night. While he didn't see much work in the first half, Parker was the go-to guy for backup quarterback Luke McCown and scored both his touchdowns in red zone situations. He'll need to keep up the pressure to create some distance between himself and the other receivers.

Saints | Younger WRs could get more chances    Tue Aug 6, 12:27 AM

New Orleans WRs Saalim Hakim, Preston Parker, Kenny Stills, Andy Tanner and Nick Toon could each see bigger roles following the injury to WR Joe Morgan (knee), who is likely to miss at least a few weeks. However, the team values experience in the top three receiver roles, and it is believed veteran WR Steve Breaston will get a long look as the No. 3 first before any of the younger players.

Footballguys view: Toon is the player to watch here. If healthy Toon has good size and the wingspan to make plays in the red zone. Toon is not a quick twitch athlete and needs to be a more refined route runner if he wants to play up to his potential.

Buccaneers | Trio get chance to shine    Sat Jul 28, 01:29 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Preston Parker, Sammie Stroughter and Mike Williams are in the mix to start opposite WR Vincent Jackson. The trio will get a chance to shine in training camp and preseason with WR Arrelious Benn (knee) out at least a month.

Footballguys view: We fully expect Mike Williams to win the WR2 job in Tampa. The design of their run heavy offense will limit his fantasy value in 2012. We like Parker and Stroughter better as a slot WR.

Buccaneers | Preston Parker performs well during workouts    Thu Jul 5, 01:23 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Preston Parker performed well during offseason workouts but will have to compete for a roster spot during training camp.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers special teams coach Bob Ligashesky said RB Michael Smith and WRs Preston Parker, Sammie Stroughter and Mike Williams are candidates to handle the return duties this season.

Footballguys view: The interesting name there is Williams, who was the team's number one wide receiver when the season ended. This is another sign that there will be less emphasis on Williams' offensive involvement now that Vincent Jackson is in Tampa.

Buccaneers | Preston Parker signs tender     Wed Apr 4, 02:20 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Wednesday, April 4, that WR Preston Parker has signed his exclusive-rights tender offer.

Footballguys view: Parker is an interesting player to watch in deep dynasty leagues. The Florida State transfer ended his college career at North Alabama and had the talent to make the Bucs' roster in 2010. He had 40 catches for 554 yards and 3 TDs in 2011 and could be a key playmaker for the team from the slot position in 2012.

Buccaneers | Josh Freeman spreading it around    Wed Oct 5, 03:27 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman has been very effective on converting third downs this season, mainly because he is spreading the ball around to many targets. RB Earnest Graham and WR Preston Parker have been his favorite third-down targets this year. Parker is ranked second in the NFL in third-down receptions with 10, while Graham is tied for third overall with eight catches. TE Kellen Winslow has four third-down catches.

Footballguys view: With Freeman spreading the ball around it's difficult for fantasy owners to trust guys like Mike Williams from week to week. Freeman is also not airing it out much this year and seems hesitant to go downfield.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Preston Parker had five receptions for a team-high 70 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 game Monday, Oct. 3, against the Indianapolis Colts. Parker has 70 or more receiving yards in two of his past three games.

Footballguys view: Parker continues to be a reliable target on underneath routes for Josh Freeman. His fantasy profile is up and down, but he is at least worth carrying as an emergency bye/injury WR in PPR leagues.

Parker had the game's longest play, a 51-yard catch in the third quarter. He finished with six catches for 98 yards, and had 195 total yards including his action in the return game.

Buccaneers | Preston Parker seeing time at safety    Thu Dec 23, 02:58 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Preston Parker has been seeing time at safety during practice the last few weeks and was used at the position in the team's Week 15 game, reports Scott Reynolds, of PewterReport.com. Head coach Raheem Morris said he has looked to find ways to get Parker on the field.

Footballguys view: Parker is extremely athletic and can be used as a receiver, returner, or on defense. Our own Cecil Lammey watched Parker up close during the week of practice for the Texas vs The Nation Game earlier this year in El Paso and was blown away by Parker's crazy athleticism. He has to develop into a better route runner, but he's freakishly athletic and difficult to bring down in the open field.
