Seahawks | Greg Olsen looking to practice this week    Tue Dec 15, 01:50 AM

Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen (foot) is 'challenging to practice this week,' head coach Pete Carroll said Monday, Dec. 14. It's uncertain if that means he'll be able to do so, and play in Week 15, however.

Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs have better options if Olsen is able to return here in the fantasy playoffs. He could help the Seahawks passing game but not enough to have much fantasy relevance.

Seahawks | Positive news on Greg Olsen    Tue Dec 8, 01:44 AM

Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen (foot) is recovering well after rupturing the plantar fascia in his left foot last month. '(Greg) is getting around terrifically. He's really coming back fast from his foot injury,' head coach Pete Carroll said Monday, Dec. 7.

Footballguys view: There is a chance that Olsen could be back before the end of the season. A return in Week 15 or Week 16 is a possibility. Seattle's offense is not featuring a tight end right now and guys like Jacob Hollister or Will Dissly haven't been doing much since Olsen was shut down on Injured Reserve.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen out at least a month    Tue Nov 24, 04:02 PM

Updating previous reports, Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen (foot) has reportedly been given about a four- to six-week timetable to return from his torn plantar fascia, although the situation remains 'unclear for now,' according to comments made by head coach Pete Carroll on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Footballguys view: Seattle has put Olsen on Injured Reserve, forcing him from action for at least three weeks. However, with the severity of this injury and his age we might have seen the final snaps of Olsen's career. He has promised to return and finish on his terms but the NFL doesn't really allow that for some players.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen suffers foot injury    Fri Nov 20, 02:39 AM

Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen (foot) suffered a fascia tear in his left foot during the team's Week 11 game against the Arizona Cardinals. The team fears it may be a complete rupture, and it's unclear if Olsen will be able to return this season.

Footballguys view: Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister have a little more appeal as desperation plays with Olsen out of the mix. The Seahawks are probably better equipped to handle an injury at tight end than any team in the league.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen's preparation paying off    Sun Aug 23, 01:22 AM

Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen's work with QB Russell Wilson this offseason is evident in practice, according to head coach Pete Carroll. 'I'm really, really fired up about Greg,' Carroll said.

Footballguys view: Olsen will have to share tight end targets with Will Dissly and maybe Jacob Hollister in a lower volume pass offense, but he's still the cheapest tight end who could be a viable start Week 1.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen to contribute immediately    Sun Mar 8, 10:49 PM

Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen 'will make a very fast transition' into the offense, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Footballguys view: We could see Olsen becoming a favorite target of QB Russell Wilson. He's not the same player he used to be, but Olsen is not washed up. In fact, with this offense and this role we could put Olsen in the low-end TE1 conversation.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen signing with Seattle    Tue Feb 18, 06:27 PM

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) is signing a one-year, $7 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source. The deal includes $5.5 million in guaranteed money.

Footballguys view: After battling foot injuries for two seasons, Olsen was able to play in 14 games last season. He ended 2019 with 52 catches for 597 yards and two touchdowns -- and that was from mostly backup quarterbacks with the Panthers. Now with Seattle, Olsen has a chance for a regular role as an important part of the offense. Catching passes from Russell Wilson makes him a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs.

Redskins | Greg Olsen to visit Washington    Mon Feb 10, 09:41 AM

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) is visiting the Washington Redskins through Monday, Feb. 10.

Footballguys view: Washington could move on from the oft-injured Jordan Reed this offseason. That would give them a need for veteran depth. Olsen worked with new Washington coach Ron Rivera during their time with the Panthers. The move makes a lot of sense if they can come together on a price tag.

Bills | Buffalo, Greg Olsen to meet Wednesday    Tue Feb 4, 06:02 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) said he is scheduled to meet with the Buffalo Bills Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Footballguys view: Bills head coach Sean McDermott is familiar with Olsen from his time as a coordinator with the Panthers years ago. Olsen would be a great veteran presence and mentor for an up-and-coming tight end like Dawson Knox. We should see Olsen get quite a bit of interest on the open market.

Panthers | Greg Olsen says split wasn't mutual    Tue Feb 4, 04:41 PM

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) shone some light on his split from the Carolina Panthers Tuesday, Feb. 4, and said the parting of ways wasn't really mutual. 'I told them all along that if they wanted me back ... obviously I would have been back,' Olsen said. 'The 'mutual parting' might have been a little overblown. The reality was ... they weren't going to bring me back ... I understood it but I didn't force my way out of here.'

Footballguys view: The Panthers are ready to move in a different direction in 2020...at multiple positions. With a new staff in place, guys like Olsen and perhaps even QB Cam Newton are not part of the plan going forward. The team could put Newton on the trade block later this offseason.
