The Jacksonville Jaguars have declared WR Jaelen Strong, CB Jalen Myrick, OG Josh Walker, LB Lerentee McCray, QB Ryan Nassib, RB T.J. Yeldon, OT William Poehls inactive for Week 4.

Footballguys view: It doesn't appear that the Jaguars will make TJ Yeldon active unless they suffer an injury at running back.

Jaguars | Ryan Nassib learning the offense    Fri Sep 22, 10:30 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Ryan Nassib said learning the terminology of the offense has been his biggest challenge since being signed but playing under head coach Doug Marrone and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in college has helped the transition.

Footballguys view: Nassib shouldn't take that long to get up to speed in the Jaguars offense. He'll work the scout team for the Jaguars, but with Blake Bortles on shaky ground it wouldn't surprise us to see Nassib get a shot....of course after the team benches Bortles then gets enough out of backup Chad Henne.

Jaguars | Jacksonville takes flyer on Ryan Nassib    Mon Sep 18, 02:05 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Nassib (Saints) signed an undisclosed contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, Sept. 18.

Footballguys view: Nassib played in college at Syracuse under Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone. He's struggled to impress in multiple stops in the NFL. Blake Bortles is ...well...playing like Blake Bortles, and the team wanted to take a look at another quarterback behind backup Chad Henne.

Saints | Ryan Nassib cut    Sat Sep 2, 02:40 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Ryan Nassib was released Saturday, Sept. 2, according to a source.

Footballguys view: That's two teams that have moved on from Nassib. It means the Saints will have Garrett Grayson as their third QB behind Drew Brees and Chase Daniel.

Saints | Third QB may not stick in New Orleans    Fri Jul 21, 10:40 AM

New Orleans Saints QB Garrett Grayson and QB Ryan Nassib will need a strong preseason in order to earn a place as the third quarterback on the team.

Footballguys view: Grayson was the heir to Drew Brees apparent when Chase Daniels was out, so we're not sure if that is still the case now that Daniels is back in the fold. Nassib had moments with the New York Giants, but it all happened in practice. The survivor won't have fantasy relevance this season, but is worth watching for down the road.

Saints | Ryan Nassib joining Saints     Mon Jun 12, 03:29 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Nassib (Giants) is expected to sign with the New Orleans Saints, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Nassib is likely just a camp arm the team is taking a look at. He'll compete with Garrett Grayson for the no3 job behind starter Drew Brees and primary backup Chase Daniel.

Cowboys | Ryan Nassib working out for Cowboys    Thu Jun 8, 09:34 AM

Free-agent QB Ryan Nassib (Giants) is working out for the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, June 8.

Footballguys view: Nassib showed flashes in his time with the Giants, but not consistently enough for the staff. He could be as solid backup to Dak Prescott and we like the chances he improves in Jason Garrett's offense.

Giants | Ryan Nassib finished with NYG?    Sun Mar 19, 10:03 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Nassib (elbow) is still rehabbing his elbow injury, and beat writer Brent Axe believes Nassib won't be re-signed by the New York Giants.

Footballguys view: Nassib could find himself with another team once he's able to pass a physical. He's never gotten a chance to really show what he can do as a starter as Nassib has just been backing up Eli Manning. Some team may want to take a chance on him.

Giants | Ryan Nassib going under the knife    Wed Dec 21, 01:41 AM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib (elbow) will undergo surgery this week, according to head coach Ben McAdoo.

Footballguys view: Josh Johnson now takes over as the primary backup behind Eli Manning. Nassib is going to be a free agent next year, but he's not done much if anything to impress during limited time in the preseason. He'll hope to follow the path of a guy like Matt Barkley who bounced around before injuries gave him a chance to start with the Bears.

Giants | Ryan Nassib struggling    Sat Aug 27, 09:33 AM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib has turned the ball over four times in the first two preseason games and does not have a touchdown during that span.

Footballguys view: Dynasty owners may not want to move on from Nassib just yet. He's likely to move on to another team next year, and maybe he'll get a chance to compete for a larger role than just being Eli Manning's backup.

Giants | Ryan Nassib unlikely to be dealt    Mon Jul 25, 08:41 AM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib isn't likely to be traded as the window to do so has likely closed. The Giants may let him test the free-agent waters next offseason and attempt to re-sign him if he isn't offered a starting job.

Footballguys view: Nassib could one day get a chance to be a starter, but it is unlikely to be with the Giants. He'll once again play as the backup behind Eli Manning. Nassib is a bit of an unknown, but he's an interesting name to keep track of in dynasty leagues. He should move on in free agency next year to get a shot to start with another team.

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib completed eight of his 12 pass attempts for 103 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 22, against the New York Jets.

Footballguys view: The Giants may only keep two quarterbacks this year. Nassib, a second-year pro out of Syracuse, is competing with Curtis Painter to be the primary backup behind Eli Manning this year.

Giants | Ryan Nassib impresses in drills    Tue Jul 22, 10:30 PM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib showed good command of the second-team offense Tuesday, July 22. He has stood out in camp as one of the team's most improved players, according to Dan Salomone of Giants.com.

Footballguys view: Nassib has to beat out Curtis Painter as the primary backup behind Eli Manning if he wants to keep his job with the team. Reports indicate that the Giants are only going to carry two quarterbacks this year.

Giants | Ryan Nassib top candidate for No. 2 QB job    Fri Jul 18, 09:42 PM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib is entering training camp as the leading candidate for the No. 2 quarterback job and probably will have to really struggle to lose the job to QB Curtis Painter.

Footballguys view: Nassib is a second-year quarterback the Giants are hoping to develop as a potential starter in the future. He spins a nice football, but Nassib will have to beat out the veteran Painter to be the primary backup behind Eli Manning. The Giants are unlikely to keep three quarterbacks on the roster this year.

Giants | Would like Ryan Nassib to win No. 2 QB job    Mon Jun 30, 02:12 PM

The New York Giants would like QB Ryan Nassib to defeat QB Curtis Painter for the No. 2 quarterback job during training camp. The team would like to keep two quarterbacks on their final roster but may keep three if Nassib is not able to win the backup job. The team could also consider releasing Nassib if he does not win the job.

Footballguys view: The Giants would like Nassib to be a developmental quarterback with starter's upside. If he can't beat out veteran Curtis Painter in training camp, then it's not a good sign of his current ability. Fantasy owners in deep dynasty leagues need to monitor Nassib's progress.

Giants | Ryan Nassib to get second-team reps    Fri Jun 27, 12:25 PM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib is likely to get the majority of the second-team snaps in training camp, according to quarterbacks coach Danny Langsdorf.

Footballguys view: Nassib has to have a good camp if he wants the Giants to keep him around as a developmental backup behind Eli Manning. With the Josh Freeman experiment over, the QB2 job is going to come down to Nassib or Curtis Painter.

Giants | Ryan Nassib progressing    Sat Jun 21, 04:22 PM

The New York Giants like QB Ryan Nassib's progress, but he is still a work in progress. Quarterbacks coach Danny Langsdorf praised Nassib's intelligence and his ability to pick up the new system but said he still has to work on his accuracy and his timing.

Footballguys view: Nassib has to win the primary backup job behind Eli Manning this year. He'll compete with veteran Curtis Painter for the job. If Nassib doesn't win the second-string job, the Giants could release him. They are unlikely to carry three quarterbacks.

Giants | Ryan Nassib struggling    Fri Jun 13, 08:16 AM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib threw multiple interceptions in 11-on-11 drills Thursday, June 12, including a pick six. He looks lost in new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's scheme and may need a great camp to keep his roster spot.

Footballguys view: This is not a good sign for the young quarterback. The Giants may only carry two quarterbacks this year, and Nassib could find himself on the outside looking in if he can't beat out Curtis Painter.

Giants | Ryan Nassib to get chance for keep No. 2 QB job    Sun Jun 1, 11:54 PM

The New York Giants will give QB Ryan Nassib every opportunity to keep the No. 2 quarterback job during offseason workouts and training camp.

Footballguys view: With Josh Freeman getting released, the team is clearly setting Nassib up to win that primary backup job behind Eli Manning. His primary competition for that spot is now veteran Curtis Painter. If Nassib can't beat out Painter then the Giants are unlikely to carry him as a third quarterback.

Giants | Backup QB role Ryan Nassib's to lose    Fri May 30, 05:53 PM

The New York Giants appear to be giving QB Ryan Nassib every opportunity to win the backup quarterback job. Nassib looked shaky in practice Thursday, May 29.

Footballguys view: Nassib is going to compete with Curtis Painter to be the primary backup behind Eli Manning. Fantasy owners who think Nassib could develop into a QB of the future for the Giants should watch his progress closely in training camp.

Giants | Ryan Nassib works as backup    Wed May 28, 09:33 PM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib was working as the primary backup to QB Eli Manning (ankle) during practice Wednesday, May 28, in organized team activities (OTAs). QB Curtis Painter (knee) and QB Josh Freeman also took reps.

Footballguys view: It's really hard to know exactly how to take this, other than perhaps everyone is going to get a shot. On the one hand, Nassib getting those reps is a sign the team is confident enough in his progress to give him a chance to prove himself. On the other hand, this may just be the result of Josh Freeman not knowing the playbook yet and knowing what they have in Painter. We expect Nassib to have to put together a strong preseason and training camp (last year's was not good) in order to win the backup job. This is critical as the Giants tend to hold just a pair of quarterbacks on the roster and if he doesn't win that job, he could end up on the cut list.

Giants | Ryan Nassib could be on bubble    Sat May 24, 11:14 AM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib could be on the roster bubble if he is not able to win the No. 2 quarterback job during training camp.

Footballguys view: Nassib was a favorite of some in the scouting community last year, but it was telling when his college coach (Doug Marrone, Bills) passed on him multiple times in the draft. He's athletic enough to keep the play alive with his feet while keeping his eyes downfield. Nassib has a strong enough arm to make all the throws required in the NFL. He will have to beat out former first-round pick Josh Freeman (2009) for the primary backup job behind Eli Manning.

Giants | Ryan Nassib's goals is to win backup job    Tue May 20, 01:28 PM

New York Giants QB Ryan Nassib said his goal is to secure the backup quarterback job for the 2014 season.

Footballguys view: Nassib is going to compete with Josh Freeman and Curtis Painter to be the primary backup behind Eli Manning. The second-year pro was highly thought of by analysts like Greg Cosell and Russ Lande when he came out of Syracuse last year. It will be interesting to see what he looks like in training camp and the preseason this year.

Giants | Ryan Nassib to compete for No. 2 QB job    Mon May 5, 04:37 PM

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese said the team expects QB Ryan Nassib to compete for the No. 2 quarterback job during offseason workouts and training camp.

Footballguys view: Nassib was seen as a value pick for the Giants last year. We'll see if he can win the number two job behind Manning in camp. Nassib will be competing with Josh Freeman and Curtis Painter for that spot.

Giants | Keeping options open on Ryan Nassib    Thu May 1, 03:51 PM

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese said he is keeping his options open when it comes to QB Ryan Nassib. 'We like Nassib, but he really hasn't had the chance to do a lot for us, and so we're going to take a real good look at him in the spring. We still think he's a really good player. He hasn't had the chance to play yet, but he's going to get a lot of work this spring, and obviously he'll get a lot of work in the preseason. Along with Curtis Painter and Josh Freeman there's competition.'

Footballguys view: When the Giants picked up Josh Freeman and Curtis Painter, some felt that it spelled doom for second-year player Ryan Nassib, but perhaps not. It could be that the Giants are trying to raise Nassib's trade value, or it could be they like him but don't want to risk the season with an unproven commodity if Manning gets hurt. If Nassib does get traded, it's likely in the next week as we head to the draft.

Giants | Ryan Nassib to get chance    Mon Mar 24, 09:14 PM

The New York Giants have interest in adding a veteran quarterback during the offseason, but they are committed to giving QB Ryan Nassib a chance to win the primary backup job behind QB Eli Manning.

Footballguys view: Nassib was highly thought of by some in the scouting community last year when he came out of Syracuse. He'll get a chance to compete with someone--likely a veteran free agent--for the primary backup job.
