Packers | Dimitri Nance, James Starks to compete for time Wed Nov 17, 09:22 AM
Green Bay Packers RBs Dimitri Nance and James Starks likely will compete each week to determine which one will be on the active roster for games, reports Lori Nickel, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Head coach Mike McCarthy said the ability to play special teams is a factor when deciding between the two running backs.
Footballguys view: Both rookie runner have parts of their skill sets that are quite admirable. Starks is very fast and difficult to bring down when he gets a head of steam. However, he runs upright and has not played much football in the last year and a half due to various injuries (shoulder, hamstring). Nance is a compact runner who runs with good instincts and balance. He's not terribly fast, but his initial burst is good enough to get to the second level consistently. |

Steelers | Nance being held out during minicamp Sat May 2, 03:55 PM
Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martin Nance (undisclosed) is being held out of the team's minicamp for an undisclosed reason. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the reason should be determined by Monday, May 4.
Footballguys view: Martin Nance was Ben Roethlisberger's favorite target while at Miami of Ohio, but he hasn't been able to catch a break in the NFL. He's bounced around from Buffalo, to Minnesota, and now to Pittsburgh. We'll see if he can maintain a spot on the Practice Squad. |
