Giants | Ramses Barden re-signs Thu May 23, 01:17 PM
The New York Giants re-signed WR Ramses Barden to an undisclosed deal Thursday, May 23.
| Footballguys view: Barden found a cold free agent market so comes back to the Giants to compete for a spot on the depth chart. He's never developed his raw skill set but has good size and a wingspan to be a quality redzone target. |

Giants | Rueben Randle No. 3 Thu May 23, 09:53 AM
New York Giants WR Rueben Randle is listed as the No. 3 receiver on the depth chart over WR Louis Murphy.
| Footballguys view: No surprise here. Randle is a phenomenal talent who can fly down the field and track the ball on deep passes. We'll see if he can develop his raw talent and become the player the Giants envisioned when they selected him in the second-round of the 2012 NFL draft. |

Giants | Increased reps for other WRs Wed May 22, 10:09 PM
New York Giants WRs Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks were missing at organized team activities Wednesday, May 22, over contract disputes, so QB Eli Manning was working with WRs Jerrel Jernigan, Louis Murphy and Rueben Randle during the session.
| Footballguys view: It's good for the young WRs like Jernigan and Randle to get more experience catching passes from Manning. Murphy traveled with Manning to Duke University earlier this year to work out and catch passes. |

Giants | Louis Murphy agrees to terms Sat Mar 16, 03:25 PM
Updating a previous report, the New York Giants have agreed to terms with free-agent WR Louis Murphy (Panthers) on a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
| Footballguys view: Murphy gives the team veteran depth at the WR position. Durability has been an issue with Murphy during his time in the league. If he can stay healthy we don't see a huge role for him with the Giants. Murphy could help out in the return game as well if needed. |

Panthers | Louis Murphy could become No. 2 WR Wed Dec 12, 02:28 PM
Carolina Panthers WR Louis Murphy could be the No. 2 wide receiver because of the injury to WR Brandon LaFell (toe). Murphy has been working with QB Cam Newton after practices this season and was standing on the sidelines with Newton looking at pictures of the coverages during the game in Week 14.
| Footballguys view: Murphy started last week in place of an injured LaFell. He's not much of a fantasy option even with the expanded role. We'll see more targets for TE Greg Olsen with LaFell out. |

Carolina Panthers WR Armanti Edwards had just one catch in Week 9 against the Washington Redskins, but it was good for an 82-yard gain to lead the team in receiving yardage for the game. TE Greg Olsen checked in with a team-high five catches for 48 yards, while TE Gary Barnidge managed a 13-yard reception. Panthers | Brandon LaFell injury update Fri Nov 2, 08:31 PM
Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said the team was hoping WR Brandon LaFell (concussion) could go through some work Friday, Nov. 2, but he didn't work out as the team had hoped. LaFell is listed as doubtful for Week 9 against the Washington Redskins. 'It doesn't (look good for LaFell),' Rivera said. 'We'll see how he is tomorrow, and then we'll go from there.'
| Footballguys view: Without LaFell in the lineup it will mean more targets for WR Steve Smith and TE Greg Olsen. Could be a big day for the Panthers passing game against the 32nd rank Redskins pass defense. |

Panthers | Brandon LaFell leads WRs in Week 5 Sun Oct 7, 09:07 PM
Carolina Panthers WR Brandon LaFell was the best of the lot for the team's wide receivers in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks, and that's not saying much. He had three grabs for a team-high 44 yards. WR Steve Smith was held to 40 yards on just four receptions, and WR Louis Murphy was stopped just short of the goal line on his only catch of the day, a 5-yard reception. That was it for the wide receivers in the 16-12 loss.

Panthers | Make or break year for Armanti Edwards Wed Aug 1, 10:41 PM
Carolina Panthers WR Armanti Edwards is trying to stick with the team for a third season, and this training camp might be a make-or-break situation. It was telling when QB Cam Newton mentioned the No. 2 receiver battle, he did not mention Edwards. 'It's an intriguing competition at that (No. 2) position. We're expecting a lot from (WR Brandon LaFell), (WR Seyi Ajirotutu), (WR Kealoha Pilares), in addition to (WR Louis Murphy).'

Panthers | Louis Murphy impressive early on Wed Aug 1, 10:40 PM
Carolina Panthers WR Louis Murphy has been impressive in the early days of training camp since coming over from the Oakland Raiders via trade.

Raiders | Young WRs led to Louis Murphy trade Thu Jul 26, 11:12 AM
The emergence of Oakland Raiders WRs Juron Criner and Rod Streater enabled the team to trade WR Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers. The move also opens up a roster spot and cap space.
| Footballguys view: Criner could push Darrius Heyward-Bey if Heyward-Bey reverts to his shaky pre-2011 form. Streater was underused at Temple, but he shined in the spring and should be considered the favorite to win the number five wide receiver job. |

Panthers | Louis Murphy may not be ready for camp Wed Jul 25, 12:13 PM
Carolina Panthers WR Louis Murphy (hamstring) may not be ready for the start of training camp because he tweaked his hamstring last week.
| Footballguys view: Injuries and inconsistencies have held back Murphy during his career, and that trend has carried over to the Panthers. Murphy gives the team veteran depth, but even if he makes the roster we don't see him having much fantasy value in 2012. |

The Oakland Raiders have traded WR Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers. It is not known what the Raiders will receive in the trade.

Panthers | Louis Murphy acquired Mon Jul 23, 01:18 PM
The Carolina Panthers have acquired WR Louis Murphy from the Oakland Raiders. It is not known what the Raiders will receive in the trade.
| Footballguys view: Murphy gives veteran depth to the Panthers thin WR corps. We can't imagine him getting much playing time if guys like Brandon LaFell and David Gettis stay healthy. Murphy has briefly flashed talent during his pro career but has been held back by injuries. |

Raiders | Louis Murphy on the bubble Thu Jul 5, 08:29 AM
Oakland Raiders WR Louis Murphy could be fighting for a roster spot in training camp due to the performances of rookie WRs Juron Criner and Rod Streater this offseason.
| Footballguys view: Criner reminds scouts of the Saints WR Marques Colston, and could have a bigger impact his rookie season than some people think. Streater is the small school prospect with big ability. We like the way he attacks the football in the air, and his run after the catch ability. Murphy is talented, but injuries and inconsistencies have prevented him from playing up to his potential as a pro. |

Oakland Raiders WR Louis Murphy (hamstring) missed the first two weeks of organized team activities (OTAs), but he was a full go last week, and he figured to remain as such for this week's mandatory mini-camp. 'It's important, it's important for me to go out there and help the team win,' Murphy said. 'Whatever the coaches see best for me, that's where I am going to be at.
