Updating previous reports, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in addition to his torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to sources.
Footballguys view: It's fair to drop Miller in shallow bench dynasty leagues without IR spots. He'll be a free agent past his prime and coming off of a serious knee injury next year. |

Updating previous reports, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) indeed suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, confirmed by an MRI, according to a source. He will miss the entire 2019 season.

Updating previous reports, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) may have also suffered a torn medial collateral ligament, in addition to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, during the preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys Saturday, Aug. 24.

Houston Texans RB Duke Johnson will take over as the starting running back in the wake of RB Lamar Miller's (knee) knee injury, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, and McClain believes Johnson will 'get all the playing time he can handle.'
Footballguys view: Johnson is worth as high as a fifth-round pick in PPR leagues now. The Texans will try to improve the situation behind him through an addition after final cuts, but with a big hole at offensive tackle and having already spent a fourth that could become a third on Johnson, they are unlikely to throw more draft picks at the position via trade. |

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) may have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys Saturday, Aug. 24, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Bad news for Miller and the Texans here. Duke Johnson is the next in line on the depth chart but the team might want to keep him more as a change-of-pace back. We'll see if they make a move for a free agent back or perhaps trade with another team to add depth at the position. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (leg) was carted off the field after suffering an apparent leg injury during the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24.
Footballguys view: This looks like a season-ending injury but of course we'll have to wait for confirmation. Duke Johnson is on the roster but the team might want to keep him as a satellite back. Damarea Crockett has talent and natural fluidity as a runner, but the team may not want to hand things over to the undrafted rookie from Missouri. The Texans could look at free agents or potentially a trade to add talent to the backfield. Stay tuned. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller is still the lead back, head coach Bill O'Brien said Sunday, July 28.
Footballguys view: D'Onta Foreman could spell him on running downs and Josh Ferguson on passing downs, but it looks like he'll be the lead back again to start the season. Foreman could close the gap on early downs with good performances in September. Miller is a high floor/low ceiling option at current ADP, but is a solid pick for teams that only take one running back in their first five picks. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller said that he has been concentrating on running routes on the outside of the backfield this offseason to improve as a pass catcher.
Footballguys view: Miller is a viable pass catcher out of the backfield, but not a true mismatch creator in the passing game. If D'Onta Foreman regains form from his 2017 achilles tear, Miller's pass catching could keep him relevant in fantasy leagues. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller has maintained his conditioning regimen and healthier diet from the 2018 offseason and is said to look even fitter and leaner this offseason. 'I'm feeling better this offseason,' Miller said. 'I think what I did in the offseason last year helped me be more explosive last year. So, I'm going to try and continue doing what I did last year and just try to help this team win any way possible.'
Footballguys view: We've gone this road with Miller before, and he did have a very strong mid-season tear to help fantasy teams. D'Onta Foreman will get a chance to cut into Miller's workload, but Miller could hold him off for at least the first month or two of the season with good play. His ADP is very reasonable for a starting running back. |

Houston Texans general manager Brian Gaine said he sees RB Lamar Miller as the team's starting running back next season.

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller has only $1 million of guaranteed money left on his contract, and the team could elect to release him, according to Spotrac. The move would save more than $6 million in cap room.
Footballguys view: The move would not be a surprising one given Miller's cap hit, age and injury history. The Texans could choose to move on from Miller and find another starting running back through the draft. They also have D'Onta Foreman waiting in the wings for a larger opportunity (if he stays healthy). |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed for 56 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17.
Footballguys view: Miller and the Texans running game continued to tread water heading into the playoffs. They could look to sign or draft a big name at the position next year. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said Thursday, Dec. 27, he is feeling 'way better' about his sprained ankle.
Footballguys view: Miller could play this week, but his recent injury and the tough matchup make him a risky Week 17 choice. |
Lamar Miller player page

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 26.
Footballguys view: It looks like Miller is set to get back in action after missing last week with this ankle injury. The team might choose to limit him against the Jaguars on Sunday with an eye on a larger workload forthcoming in the playoffs. We might see D'Onta Foreman get more work if Miller is limited. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is 'trending upwards' and has 'a chance' to play in Week 17 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.
Footballguys view: Miller doesn't need to shake off the rust before the Texans make a postseason run. They might decide to give him another week of rest. That means Alfred Blue and D'Onta Foreman could get more action if Miller sits out the regular season finale. |
Lamar Miller player page

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) will not travel with the team for their Week 16 game and has been ruled out.
Footballguys view: The Texans have the goal of a deep postseason run, so giving Miller some rest is a good idea. They'll shut him down this week but he could return in Week 17 just to shake off some rust before the playoffs. While Miller is out, the Texans turn to Alfred Blue as the lead back. We could see D'Onta Foreman get some work too. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited in practice for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 21 and he is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Footballguys view: Miller isn't trustworthy coming off of a game that he left early and getting in no full practices this week. It is still possible that he is inactive and Alfred Blue gets the start, but Blue has a low ceiling as a runner. |

Houston Texans S Mike Tyson (concussion) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 16 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.
Footballguys view: It looks like Miller is going to return after missing most of Week 15. He's still a very risky start with the possibility of a re-injury and a history of not playing well through injuries. |
Lamar Miller player page

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said Thursday, Dec. 20, that he's day to day as he recovers from his Week 15 ankle injury and added that the injury could've been worse.
Footballguys view: We could see the Texans activate D'Onta Foreman this week. Miller might be able to play in Week 16 but the team may choose to limit his role with the playoffs coming up. He doesn't have a high ankle sprain, and that's good news but the number of touches Miller gets this week is a bit of a mystery. Look at him as a low-end RB2 against the Eagles on Sunday. |

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller's (ankle) ankle injury is not considered serious, and he may be able to play in the Week 16 game, according to a source. Miller should be ready for the start of the playoffs in case he misses any regular season games.

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) did not come back after leaving early with an ankle injury against the New York Jets Saturday, Dec. 15.
Footballguys view: Miller might have cost fantasy teams a chance to play for the title. He seemed more durable this year until the most important week to date. He'll be a risky RB2/Flex if he goes against the Eagles next week. |

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) went to the locker room in the second quarter of the Week 15 game against the New York Jets on Saturday, Dec. 15. Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed for 103 yards on 19 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 13.
Footballguys view: Miller is running like a younger version of himself right now. The Texans defense has been helping them have favorable game scripts for the running game and keeping Miller among the RB2 ranks. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller had 12 carries for 162 yards, including a 97-yard touchdown, and caught one pass for five yards in a 34-17 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 12.

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller registered 20 carries for 86 yards in the Week 11 game against the Washington Redskins and he added three receptions for 22 yards with five targets.
Footballguys view: Keke Coutee's return helped the running game and Miller looked fresher coming off of the bye. He'll be a low ceiling RB2/Flex against the Titans next week. |
Lamar Miller player page

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller faces the Washington Redskins in Week 11, and the Redskins have allowed the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game this season.
Footballguys view: The season-long data for Washington doesn't give a clear picture of what's going on now. Over the last two games, Washington has given up 103 yards on the ground to the Bucs and 154 yards to the Falcons rushing attack. Miller and the Texans rushing attack is inconsistent, and Fantasy GMs have already nerfed expectations for the veteran back. We see Miller as a low-end RB2 or RB3/flex option in Week 11. |

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7.
Footballguys view: Miller got on track for the first time in a while when the Jaguars lost their nerve in this one. The Texans should want to foster a stronger running game to take pressure of Deshaun Watson, but Miller is still only bye/injury/emergency material unless this positive trend continues. |
