The Miami Dolphins have declared LB Donald Butler, WR Justin Hunter, SS Jordan Lucas, RB Isaiah Pead, C Mike Pouncey, OG Dallas Thomas, RB Damien Williams inactive for Week 2.

Footballguys view: Williams and Pead being inactive is a good sign that Jay Ajayi has earned back his #2 running back role and injury upside if Arian Foster goes down.

The Miami Dolphins have declared QB Brandon Doughty, OT Dallas Thomas, WR DeVante Parker, RB Isaiah Pead, RB Jay Ajayi, C Mike Pouncey, DL Terrence Fede inactive for Week 1.

Footballguys view: As expected, Parker's hamstring issues kept him on the sidelines for this one. Third round pick Leonte Carroo will get looks outside in three-wide sets with Parker out.

Dolphins | Miami's Friday injury report    Fri Sep 9, 05:37 PM

Miami Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (hip) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 9. LB Jelani Jenkins (knee) was limited during practice, while DE Terrence Fede (knee), DT Earl Mitchell (calf), RB Isaiah Pead (hamstring) and OT Laremy Tunsil (knee) fully participated in practice. Pouncey has been ruled out for Week 1, while the other players are listed as questionable.

Footballguys view: Pouncey being ruled out this early in the week means that we can't be sure he'll play next week at New England. Anthony Steen did a passable job filling in for him in the preseason third week. The Dolphins will likely have trouble running the ball with four offensive tackles flanking Steen on the line.

Dolphins | Tuesday practice report for Week 1    Wed Sep 7, 01:51 AM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (hamstring), C Mike Pouncey (hip), RB Isaiah Pead (hamstring), LB Jelani Jenkins (knee) and DE Terrence Fede (knee) did not practice during the portion open to the media on Tuesday, Sept. 6. However, head coach Adam Gase indicated that players that missed practice time this week could still suit up in Week 1.

Footballguys view: Parker is unlikely to play this week. Rookie Leonte Carroo will get the #3 wide receiver snaps, but the matchup against Seattle is not a good one. If Pouncey can't go, the Dolphins will probably be even more frustrated on offense.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake may go on short-term IR    Sun Aug 21, 11:40 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake (hamstring) may be a candidate for the short-term Injured Reserve list if the team wants to keep RBs Isaiah Pead and Damien Williams on the 53-man roster. Drake has missed most of training camp because of a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: Drake was injury-prone at Alabama, and it has carried over in the NFL before he has even had a chance to show his stuff. He might play a role by the end of the season, but it's beginning to look like Drake will be a minimal part of the rotation this year.

Dolphins | Isaiah Pead turning heads    Sat Aug 20, 10:16 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Isaiah Pead was originally just supposed to be a camp body with a small chance of winning a roster spot, but he is doing whatever he can to force head coach Adam Gase into a tough roster decision. He led the team in yards from scrimmage (78) for the second straight preseason game. He even received first-team snaps, which might indicate he is on the right side of the roster bubble. 'Every time he gets in the game, he seems to pop one,' Gase said. 'I've been very impressed with him. When he gets in the game, I'm thinking, 'Let's call plays for him and try to give him a chance to show his skill set'.'

Footballguys view: Pead was a second-round pick for the Rams in 2012, but appeared to lose his zest for football in a slow rookie year. The Dolphins could keep him as a fourth running back if he challenges Damien Williams.

Dolphins | Two Miami RBs sit Thursday    Thu Aug 4, 10:08 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (knee) and RB Isaiah Pead (undisclosed) are out of practice Thursday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: Ajayi is having a disappointing summer. First Arian Foster is signed, in part because of worries about Ajayi's durability and now those concerns seem to be coming to fruition as he deals with a knee bruise. As long as Foster is healthy--and there's no guarantee of that lasting--Ajayi is no more than an RB3 with some upside.

Dolphins | Isaiah Pead nicked up    Mon Aug 1, 10:08 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Isaiah Pead (undisclosed) left practice Monday, Aug. 1, and he's being evaluated by trainers.

Footballguys view: Pead had just been thrust into first-team snaps while Jay Ajayi sat with a bone bruise on his left knee. The comeback attempt could come to a halt if this is a multi-week injury. Another comeback story, Daniel Thomas, could get more run if Pead has to miss time. The backup going into the season, Damien Williams, should be activated from the PUP soon and could establish his claim to stick as a fourth back.

Dolphins | Isaiah Pead working with first-team offense    Sun Jul 31, 09:04 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Isaiah Pead received plenty of repetitions with the first-team offense Sunday, July 31.

Footballguys view: Pead was a bust of a second-round pick for the Rams, at least in part because his rookie year sapped his love of football. Damien Williams' conditioning issue has given Pead an opening to make the team as the #4 running back.

Dolphins | Miami signing Isaiah Pead    Thu Mar 31, 04:45 PM

Free-agent RB Isaiah Pead (Steelers) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Miami Dolphins Thursday, March 31, according to a source.

Rams | Isaiah Pead could be dumped by Rams    Sun Feb 8, 08:18 PM

The St. Louis Rams might consider releasing RB Isaiah Pead this offseason. The move would create just under $941,000 of additional cap space. The club has RBs Tre Mason, Benny Cunningham, Zac Stacy and Trey Watts on the roster, and Pead hasn't had much impact since being drafted in the second round in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: We're surprised Pead has made it this long with the Rams. That might have to do with him being a second-round pick a few years ago. Pead lacks the ability to make much of an impact as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. This free agent and draft class is incredibly strong at running back. If on the open market, we can't imagine Pead drawing a lot of attention.

Rams | Isaiah Pead to IR    Thu Aug 21, 05:08 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead (knee) has cleared waivers and was placed on Reserve/Injured Thursday, Aug. 2.

Rams | Isaiah Pead waived    Wed Aug 20, 04:23 PM

The St. Louis Rams waived RB Isaiah Pead (knee) with a waived/injured designation Wednesday, Aug. 20. Pead will revert back to the roster if he clears waivers.

Footballguys view: Pead was a second-round pick just a few years ago. If he clears waivers, he'll stay with the Rams organization and potentially play a small role in the future, but his dynasty light is just about out.

Rams | Isaiah Pead out for season    Sun Aug 17, 06:00 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead (knee) is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He'll undergo surgery this week.

Footballguys view: Pead's career has been in a tailspin pretty much from the moment he was drafted in the second round two years ago. He has failed to make a mark in a Rams backfield full of opportunity. He can be dropped in even the deepest of dynasty leagues.

Rams | Fear Isaiah Pead tore ACL    Sat Aug 16, 07:26 PM

Updating earlier reports, St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead (knee) is feared to have torn his left anterior cruciate ligament, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Footballguys view: We'll know more about the injury in the near future. Pead has been a disappointment since the Rams picked him up as a second-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft. If he's out, then the team could look at camp cuts or veteran free agents available to help fill out the RB position. It also creates a better opportunity for Chase Reynolds to make the final roster.

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead (undisclosed) missed practice Tuesday, July 29, and appeared to be wearing a cast on his right hand, according to ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner.

Footballguys view: Pead has been a disappointment as a pro. The former second-round pick is just trying to hang around on the roster as a fourth-string back. He's now competing with Chase Reynolds to be the final back on the depth chart.

Rams | RB competition being pushed by OC    Wed Jun 18, 02:16 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy isn't officially the team's starting running back. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer reiterated that RBs Benny Cunningham, Tre Mason and Isaiah Pead will all compete with Stacy for starter status. Schottenheimer added that each running back has a different skill set that will be used 'throughout the course of the year.'

Footballguys view: No matter how you cut it, this is not what you want to hear about a second-round fantasy pick in June. Look for Stacy's ADP to fall and Mason's to rise, as this situation appears to be more unstable than expected, even after the Rams took Mason in the third round.

The St. Louis Rams will likely use RBs Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason in the first three slots on the depth chart. In the fourth spot it could be a competition between RBs Isaiah Pead, Chase Reynolds, Kadeem Jones and Trey Watts.

Footballguys view: Pead is not a lock for this spot. He's been a huge disappointment after the Rams selected him in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft. Reynolds is a hard-nosed player to keep an eye on here.

Rams | Zac Stacy questionable    Fri Nov 1, 03:07 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Footballguys view: It's good that he's practicing, though it'd be better if he was "full go." Stacy was hurt on the second to last drive against Seattle last Monday but hopefully will be able to play through the injury as he should do well against Tennessee. Of course, he doesn't get touchdowns because the Rams don't seem to like to run at the goal line. How else can you explain the odd choice to have Kellen Clemons loft a pass into the end zone on fourth down instead of have Stacy run the ball? Anyone?

Rams | Zac Stacy to receive his turn?    Thu Oct 3, 12:33 PM

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said the team will probably go with a committee approach at running back in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and RB Zac Stacy could receive his chance after RBs Daryl Richardson, Isaiah Pead and Benny Cunningham haven't been very productive. 'I think Zac's done a really good job since he's been here,' QB Sam Bradford said. 'He's a very talented runner. He's a powerful guy. He's got great vision. He makes cuts in the hole that are quick and decisive, so I'm excited to see him out there.' Stacy has only one carry for four yards on the season against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. He was inactive in Weeks 2 and 3. The rest of the team's running backs haven't been good in pass protection through four weeks, and although he hasn't proven himself in the NFL yet, Stacy had a reputation as a good pass blocker coming out of college.

Footballguys view: We liked Stacy's skill set coming out of Vanderbilt. He's built low to the ground, runs with good balance, and has more speed than some think. Pead is not the answer, and the team could choose to let Stacy show what he can do.
