Patriots | Cameron Meredith on PUP list    Fri Aug 2, 06:21 PM

New England Patriots WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Friday, Aug. 2.

Footballguys view: Meredith has been a non factor in the NFL for a couple of seasons due to knee problems. He was productive with the Bears in 2016, but Meredith barely played for the Saints in 2018 and was released last month. The Patriots quickly signed Meredith but this move shows how ulra-cautious they are going to be with the veteran.

Patriots | Cameron Meredith headed to New England    Fri Aug 2, 03:18 PM

Free-agent WR Cameron Meredith (Saints) agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the New England Patriots on Friday, Aug. 2.

Footballguys view: The Patriots love picking through other teams scrap heaps. Meredith could be a big slot for them if his knee is sound, although that's the question looming over Meredith's future after the Saints released him so early in camp.

Saints | Cameron Meredith released    Mon Jul 29, 11:22 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith was released Monday, July 29.

Footballguys view: Meredith has clearly lost something from his surgery that he is unlikely to get back. The Saints negotiated a pay cut with him to increase his chances of making the roster, but it isn't going to work out. UDFA Emmanuel Butler has been getting buzz, so he has a better chance of making the roster with this news. Simmie Cobbs has also gotten some praise from beat writers.

Saints | Cameron Meredith's days numbered?    Sun Jun 30, 10:42 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) will need to prove his healthy during training camp if he wants to make the 53-man roster, according to Larry Holder of The Athletic, and Holder believes the Saints 'can't wait' on Meredith much longer.

Footballguys view: Meredith hasn't been able to get back his pre-injury form since his 2017 ACL tear. Ryan Pace and the Bears appear to have made the right move not matching the two year, $9 million restricted free agent contract the Saints gave him last year. He has since taken a deep pay cut on this year's salary to avoid release.

Saints | Cameron Meredith thinking big picture    Thu Jun 13, 10:28 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) said sitting out OTAs and minicamp is 'mostly a matter of being smart' in order to ensure a healthy training camp.

Footballguys view: Meredith's tenure with the Saints is hanging by a string after he took a paycut. Rishard Matthews was signed to give Meredith even more competition for a roster spot at a position that doesn't have any to spare.

  Saints | Cameron Meredith a no-go Tuesday    Tue Jun 11, 02:08 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was at practice but did not participate Tuesday, June 11.

Footballguys view: The reports were already out there that Meredith would not participate in minicamp. His knee injury limited him to just six games in 2018 and has been rather difficult to come back from. Even though he took a $2.1 million pay cut earlier this offseason, Meredith is no lock for the 53-man roster.

Saints | Cameron Meredith still not practicing    Thu May 23, 03:35 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) spent most of the session at organized team activities on the field with a trainer but did not practice Thursday, May 23.'He's on the sideline, but they say probably next week he can do a little bit more. But he looks healthy. He looks good. He looks like he's coming along well,' receivers coach Curtis Johnson said.

Footballguys view: Back in March, Meredith agreed to a $2.1 million pay cut. He appeared in six games with the Saints last year but didn't do much, only getting targeted 10 times. This knee problem has been plaguing Meredith for quite some time. He has the talent, and the opportunity in this high-powered Saints offense, to have a bounce-back season in 2019. We might also see him not make the 53-man roster. It's setting up to be a boom-or-bust type of year for Meredith as he wants to get his career back on track.

Saints | Cameron Meredith expects to be ready for 2019    Mon Dec 31, 02:41 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) believes he will be ready to take part in all offseason work in 2019.

Footballguys view: Meredith signed a two-year deal with the Saints last year but saw his season cut short by another knee problem. He played in six games this year, catching nine passes for 114 yards and one touchdown. Meredith has a $6.8 million cap hit next year with $2.75 million in dead money. He's no lock for the final roster in 2019.

Saints | Cameron Meredith to IR    Thu Nov 8, 08:15 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Nov. 8, as he is having arthroscopic surgery.

Footballguys view: Dez Bryant should take over the slot role with Meredith on injured reserve, but he will have to score touchdowns to be relevant in fantasy leagues. The Bears reluctance to commit money to Meredith in the offseason looks wise in light of this development.

Saints | Cameron Meredith misses practice    Wed Nov 7, 04:56 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Footballguys view: There's a reason why the Saints added Dez Bryant. They don't have much behind Michael Thomas other than rookie Tre'Quan Smith. Meredith has been a disappointment with the Saints this year.

Saints | Full practice for Cameron Meredith    Thu Oct 18, 05:44 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 18.

Footballguys view: Meredith had his best game of the year in Week 5 when he caught five passes for 71 yards against Washington. Coming off the bye, Meredith could be in line for a larger role in the Saints passing game. Ted Ginn Jr. was put on Injured Reserve and the team will now distribute targets in the passing game differently. That could lead to a bump in looks for Meredith. He's a 'what the heck' flex play in Week 7 against the Ravens.

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was limited in practice Saturday, Oct. 6, but he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 5 game with the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: Meredith is working his way into the rotation for the Saints. He had four targets last week, snaring three passes for 32 yards against the Giants. He's only a super deep 'what the heck' flex for Fantasy GMs in Week 5...even with Ted Ginn (knee) out for Monday's game against Washington.

Saints | Cameron Meredith adjusting well    Tue Aug 28, 09:26 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) is expected to see 'quite a bit of work' in Thursday's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams after being handled conservatively throughout training camp as part of the process to ensure no major setbacks in his preparation for the regular season follow ACL surgery last season.'He's picked it up well. The key is just, he's a little behind just because of the injury. But he's moving around real well. He's a quick learner. He'll get quite a bit of work (Thursday),' head coach Sean Payton said.

Footballguys view: Meredith has zero catches this preseason. That should change after the preseason finale on Thursday night. On paper, it looks like Meredith could be the Saints no2 wide receiver opposite Michael Thomas. In reality, he might have a hard time winning more snaps with rookie WR Tre'Quan Smith tearing it up in August. Stay tuned as both Meredith and Smith should be late round fliers for Fantasy GMs.

Saints | Cameron Meredith struggling in preseason    Tue Aug 28, 06:09 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) has recorded zero catches in 48 preseason snaps, which also includes a dropped pass that turned into an interception. He played mostly with the backups in the team's most recent preseason game Saturday, Aug. 25.

Footballguys view: Meredith is struggling and rookie Tre'Quan Smith has been impressing. Those two are battling for the spot opposite Michael Thomas in the starting lineup. Meredith is the only Saints WR not names Michael Thomas currently getting draft. He's going off the board at WR51 (11.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Saints | Cameron Meredith makes debut    Sat Aug 18, 01:38 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was able to make his preseason debut Friday, Aug. 17, against the Arizona Cardinals. He was only targeted once and failed to catch the pass right at it which was intercepted after it bounced into the air. He wasn't happy with his performance, but felt good as he makes his final steps in his recovery. 'It felt great,' Meredith said. 'Just getting out there, getting in the groove of things.'

Footballguys view: Meredith missed all of the 2017 season due to a torn ACL and a slight MCL tear that he's been rigorously working to come back from. Getting work on the field for the first time in a game (even though it's preseason) is a positive sign for the young receiver. He's competing with rookie Tre-Quan Smith to be the no2 receiver for the Saints opposite of Michael Thomas in 2018.

Saints | Cameron Meredith back at practice    Wed Aug 15, 01:25 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (undisclosed) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 15, but did not participate in team drills.

Footballguys view: Meredith missed all of the 2017 season due to a knee injury. Reports indicate there doesn't seem to be any concern this undisclosed injury is related to his surgically repaired knee. If healthy, Meredith could be a value pick for Fantasy GMs are his current ADP of WR49 (10.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Saints | Cameron Meredith dealing with unknown ailment    Tue Aug 14, 01:31 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (undisclosed) has missed the last several days of practice with an undisclosed injury, although there doesn't seem to be any concern the injury is related to his surgically repaired knee, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Footballguys view: Meredith posted about obstacles and tests on his twitter account, so this could be more than minor, but it is difficult to know. This certainly makes us less enthusiastic to draft Meredith at ADP and could open a path for rookie Tre'Quan Smith to contribute early.

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) worked one-on-one with QB Drew Brees after practice Saturday, Aug. 4, as the quarterback showed Meredith routes in the end zone.

Footballguys view: If healthy, Meredith could be starting opposite Michael Thomas for the high-powered Saints offense. That's a fine fantasy asset if he does end up winning that position. We'll see if he can, but we'll also watch rookie WR Tre'Quan Smith as recent buzz has been very positive about him flashing in camp.

Saints | Cameron Meredith doesn't practice    Fri Aug 3, 11:41 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was held out of practice Friday, Aug. 3.

Footballguys view: This was his second straight missed practice. We'll monitor this as there was some speculation about the condition of his injured knee after the Bears gave him an abnormally low restricted free agent tender considering his production in 2016.

Saints | Cameron Meredith in line to start    Tue Jul 24, 12:34 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith is the best bet to be the team's No. 2 receiver, according to Josh Katzenstein of The Times-Picayune.

Footballguys view: Meredith could line up outside opposite Michael Thomas and give Drew Brees yet another quality target to throw to. That leaves Ted Ginn Jr. manning the slot, a position where he can thrive. Meredith has a current ADP of WR51 (11.09) in 12-team PPR leagues. If he's healthy (Meredith missed all of last year with the Bears due to a knee injury), Meredith could easily outperform that draft position.

Saints | Cameron Meredith hopeful for training camp    Tue Jul 17, 03:32 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) said that while he is still recovering from his knee injury and has been limited in team activities thus far, he is hopeful to be given the 'all clear' for training camp. 'On a scale of '1 to 10,' it's almost a 10... I haven't had a setback along the recovery process,' Meredith said of his injury. 'I'm gaining strength day by day, month by month. I'm excited to see how soon I can get back, but the main objective for me is to do as much as I can with the trainers to get ready for the season. My goal is to try and get back to training camp. As long as there aren't any setbacks or anything like that, it shouldn't be a problem.'

Footballguys view: Meredith missed all of the 2017 season due to a torn ACL and a slight MCL tear that he's been rigorously working to come back from. A restricted free agent earlier this year, the Saints were able to sign him away from the Bears and he could be in for a career year catching passes from Drew Brees for the first time...if he's healthy. Fantasy owners know the talent and love the situation, but this injury brings about some caution when it comes to Meredith's average draft position. He has a current ADP of WR52 (11.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Saints | Cameron Meredith getting some work in     Fri May 25, 12:17 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) participated in some individual drills during OTAs on Thursday, May 24.

Footballguys view: This matches what Saints head coach Sean Payton has been saying about Meredith behind ahead of schedule. Meredith suffered an ACL injury in the third preseason game last year and missed the entire 2017 season. There's no need for the Saints to push him much until training camp gets here.

Saints | Cameron Meredith ahead of schedule    Thu May 24, 01:32 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) is way ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton added that the Saints have a 'clear vision' on how they want to use their new receiver.

Footballguys view: Meredith will likely be featured in three-wide sets, which in the New Orleans offense could produce some decent numbers and make him a reasonable bye week filler with upside. He's got a current ADP of WR44 (10.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Saints | Cameron Meredith says he'll be 100 percent    Wed Apr 11, 11:47 PM

Updating a previous report, New Orleans WR Cameron Meredith's (knee) offer sheet was not matched by the Chicago Bears 'reportedly' due to concerns over the health of his knee. However, Meredith said that he sees himself 'being 100 percent for at least the season,' with training camp being his goal. The Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts also expressed interest in the wide receiver.

Footballguys view: The Bears may be right about his knee. but right now their main receivers are Allen Robinson and an unreliable and oft-injured Kevin White. Second-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky needs the weapons, so expect the team to go after a wide receiver sometime on day two.

Chicago Bears restricted free-agent WR Cameron Meredith's two-year, $10 million offer sheet from the New Orleans Saints will not be matched by the Bears, according to a source. Meredith is officially a Saint.

Footballguys view: Meredith missed all of last year with a knee injury, but he gets a boost in fantasy potential with a move to the Saints. He'll now be catching passes from Drew Brees as the Saints no.3 WR behind Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn.

Bears | Chicago not matching Cameron Meredith    Wed Apr 11, 03:17 PM

Chicago Bears restricted free-agent WR Cameron Meredith's two-year, $10 million offer sheet from the New Orleans Saints will not be matched by the Bears, according to a source. Meredith is officially a Saint.

Footballguys view: The Bears chose not to match the offer the Saints had for Meredith. 'Medical reasons' may have been the deciding factor for the Bears as Meredith is coming off 2017 ACL and PCL injuries that cost him the entire season. As an original round tender as an undrafted free agent, the Bears receive no compensation for declining to match Meredith's offer.
