Falcons | Kerry Meier making run at No. 4 WR job    Tue Jul 31, 12:50 AM

Atlanta Falcons WR Kerry Meier (knee) has been turning heads early in training camp, and he appears to have a leg up for the No. 4 receiver job. He still must be a factor on special teams if he wants to secure a roster spot. 'Kerry's done a great job, he really has,' QB Matt Ryan said Monday, July 30. 'I think last year coming off the knee injury, he came back in and did a good (job) and played in some spot roles for us. I think this year his confidence is back in his leg.'

Footballguys view: Meier is a former quarterback and he would probably be on the same page with Matt Ryan if an injury pushed him into the starting lineup. He's worth an add in deep dynasty leagues.

Falcons | Several WRs in mix for jobs    Mon Jun 18, 11:09 PM

The Atlanta Falcons have WRs Julio Jones and Roddy White as starters, and WR Harry Douglas is likely entrenched as the third receiver. However, after that, the competition for jobs is wide open. WRs Michael Calvin, Kevin Cone, Drew Davis and Kerry Meier are expected to battle for the fourth receiver job, with WRs Marcus Jackson, Cody Pearcy, James Rodgers and Kenny Stafford also in the hunt for a roster spot.

Footballguys view: After Douglas there are a lot of unproven (but talented) WRs on the Falcons roster. We like Meier the best out of the group if he can stay healthy. The converted college QB is a very good route runner and knows how to find the soft spots in the zone. He could be a trusted option for QB Matt Ryan in spread formations.

Falcons | Rotation at WR to replace Julio Jones    Thu Oct 13, 01:05 AM

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said Wednesday, Oct. 12, that WR Harry Douglas won't necessarily be a full-time player in Week 6 despite WR Julio Jones (hamstring) not playing. 'It will be a rotation. (WR Eric Weems) will get snaps. (WR Kerry Meier) will get snaps,' Smith said. 'One man's misfortune, I've said many times, is another guy's opportunity.'

Footballguys view: Tony Gonzalez and Roddy White are the main beneficiaries in terms of targets, but deep dynasty league players should keep an eye on Kerry Meier.

Falcons | Kerry Meier listed as fourth WR    Wed Sep 7, 01:37 AM

Atlanta Falcons WR Kerry Meier is listed as the fourth receiver on the team's first unofficial depth chart of the regular season behind WRs Roddy White, Julio Jones and Harry Douglas.

Footballguys view: If White or Jones miss time, Meier could start since Harry Douglas is strictly a slot receiver. He could be an important waiver wire pickup later this year.

Falcons | WR Meier nearing full heath    Mon Jul 11, 08:51 PM

Jayson Jenks, from the Kansas City Star, reports Falcons second-year WR Kerry Meier is nearing full health as he recovers from a knee injury that cost him all of last year. "Not quite there yet, but I feel like I'm turning the corner, which feels good," Meier said. "It's been a long time coming."

Footballguys view: Meier is a talented player but will have to prove that he can stay healthy if he wants to make the most of his potential. He began his college career as a QB at Kansas but switched to WR and was an effective playmaker. Meier is a big target who can run good routes and displays good concentration when going over the middle.

Falcons | Kerry Meier is way ahead of schedule    Fri Mar 25, 02:38 AM

Atlanta Falcons WR Kerry Meier (knee) is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, reports Pat Yasinkas, of ESPN.com. 'Kerry has done an outstanding job with his rehabilitation,' head coach Mike Smith said. 'When we had our end-of-year physicals, Kerry was way ahead of schedule.'

Footballguys view: Good news for the Falcons here. Dynasty owners can't forget the name Kerry Meier. A former quarterback, Meier knows how to find a soft spot in the zone and can be a very reliable target. Having him on the field will be a much needed upgrade for the Falcons passing game.

Updating a previous item, Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said WR Michael Jenkins (shoulder) would not need surgery for his left shoulder injury, reports D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Smith said, "We are going to rotate our wide receivers. (WR) Harry Douglas (knee) will be coming back. (WR) Brian Finneran and (WR) Eric Weems, they are all experienced players that will really step into his role. Again, Harry, we are bringing him along slowly and in a one-a-day mode. Brian and Eric will probably get the majority of the snaps and we'll get (WR) Kerry Meier in the game Friday (Aug. 13) night."

The Atlanta Falcons have signed fifth-round draft choice WR Kerry Meier to a four-year deal worth $1.947 million, a source told Aaron Wilson, of NationalFootballPost.com. The deal includes a signing bonus of around $157,000.

Footballguys view: Meier has sneaky dynasty value, because although he's not physically flashy, he is reliable and Michael Jenkins is an underwhelming #2 in this pass offense.

Atlanta Falcons WR Kerry Meier, a fifth-round draft pick, is close to agreeing to terms on a contract, reports D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Footballguys view: Meier is a savvy wide receiver who initially went to Kansas as a quarterback. He knows what a QB is looking for and does a good job of coming back to the football, plus is very adept at finding the soft spot in a zone. He could end up being the Falcons slot receiver this year, as he competes for playing time behind Roddy White and Michael Jenkins.

D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons WR Kerry Meier (hamstring) looked good during the team's minicamp practices until he suffered a minor hamstring injury in the fourth practice. Meier was moving around good and running crisp routes.
