NFL | LeSean McCoy to retire with Eagles Thu Sep 30, 01:20 PM
Free agent RB LeSean McCoy will sign a one-day contract with the Philadelphia Eagles to announce his retirement, the team announced Thursday, Sept. 30.
Footballguys view: When McCoy was at his best, he was among the best in the league at his position. He's the Eagles all-time leading rusher and finishing his pro career with 11,102 rushing yards with 518 receptions for 3,898 receiving yards in 12 NFL seasons. McCoy was able to get two Super Bowl rings, back-to-back, with the Chiefs and the Buccaneers when he was a reserve back. |

Buccaneers | LeSean McCoy contemplating retirement Tue Feb 2, 04:02 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeSean McCoy told NJ.com's Darryl Slater that he will consider retiring if the Buccaneers defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. McCoy got a Super Bowl ring last year with the Chiefs but he didn't do anything in the postseason as he was a healthy scratch. We'll see if he can go back-to-back Super Bowl championships with two different teams. McCoy's best days are far behind him and he'll be hanging them up soon whether or not the Bucs win. |

Buccaneers | Week 6 injury report for Tampa Bay Fri Oct 16, 03:59 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (abdomen), DL Khalil Davis (ankle) and RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 16, and are listed as questionable for Week 6 versus the Green Bay Packers. DL Ndamukong Suh (non-injury) and LB Jason Pierre-Paul (knee) did not practice Friday while WRs Mike Evans (ankle), S Jordan Whitehead (knee) and Scott Miller (hip, groin) were limited; all five have been removed from the injury report. LB Lavonte David (knee), WR Chris Godwin (hamstring), TE Rob Gronkowski (shoulder), RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) and WR Justin Watson (chest) practiced in full Friday and also no longer appear on the injury report.
Footballguys view: It doesn't sound like Fournette is 100% yet, so expect Ronald Jones to continue to dominate the work in the backfield. Davis being less than 100% isn't great news as he'll face Davante Adams this week, who isn't on the injury report. |

Buccaneers | LeSean McCoy likely out for a bit Mon Oct 5, 04:45 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain in Week 4 versus the Los Angeles Chargers and will likely be week-to-week, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Footballguys view: McCoy was working as a pass-catching back for the Buccaneers. With Leonard Fournette out, McCoy was working as a backup to Ronald Jones. The Buccaneers play on Thursday against the Bears so McCoy is unlikely to play. That means rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn will step in as the team's no.2 running back. |
LeSean McCoy player page
Buccaneers | LeSean McCoy still in the mix Thu Sep 3, 10:07 AM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeSean McCoy remains an integral part of the team's plans in the passing game and on third down.
Footballguys view: McCoy can catch passes out of the backfield for the Buccaneers if need be. He's not the same as he used to be as a runner but his veteran presence is a good thing for the team...it's just not got a lot of fantasy value. Ronald Jones is the starter, while newly-acquired Leonard Fournette is a nice insurance policy. McCoy is vying for a role behind those two. |

Buccaneers | LeSean McCoy may be part of passing game Wed Aug 5, 03:39 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeSean McCoy probably will have a role in the passing game this season, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
Footballguys view: Arians has already said that Ronald Jones is the starting running back. That means McCoy is working for a change-of-pace role behind Jones. While Jones is a RB3 for Fantasy GMs, McCoy may only work out as a 'what the heck' flex play but only in super deep leagues. |

Buccaneers | LeSean McCoy deal officially done Tue Aug 4, 06:08 PM
Updating previous stories, free-agent RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) officially signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Footballguys view: McCoy may not be the player he used to be but he can still be an important piece in a running back room. He's going to at least give the team veteran depth, but McCoy could push for playing time. The Bucs have rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Ronald Jones at the top of the depth chart and this has the makings of a three-headed RBBC which can be a problem for Fantasy GMs. |

Buccaneers | LeSean McCoy financials Thu Jul 30, 06:06 PM
Updating a previous story, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeSean McCoy's one-year deal is worth just over $1 million, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Thursday, July 30.
Footballguys view: McCoy was not used by the Chiefs down the stretch last year as they made a run at the Super Bowl. Now, he'll get the chance to be a larger part as the Buccaneers are clearly in a Super Bowl window themselves. |

Buccaneers | LeSean McCoy catches on with TB Thu Jul 30, 05:58 PM
Free-agent RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, July 30.
Footballguys view: McCoy gets a chance with another Super Bowl contender. The veteran back was with the Chiefs last year but he was a healthy scratch as that team won a championship. The Buccaneers do not have the talent at the RB position that the Chiefs do. McCoy is going to compete with guys like Ronald Jones and rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn for playing time in 2020. |

NFL | LeSean McCoy talking with teams Fri Jul 24, 02:20 PM
Free agent RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) said Friday, July 24, that he's had recent discussions with a 'few' unnamed teams as he seeks to continue his career. 'But I think the biggest thing is to find the right fit,' McCoy said on NFL Network. 'Find the right fit for me. I think at the point in my career, not just playing football. I want to play for the right team. I want to be able to contribute. I want to be able to win another championship. You can't go from playing with the Chiefs with all that talent and winning a championship to now just trying to play. I'm the type of guy, I want to come in a room, challenge the running backs get them better. Be a veteran leader. All the type of things I want to bring to a team. So, just got to find the right fit for me.'
Footballguys view: The Eagles come to mind immediately as a possible destination considering his history with the team and their desire to add a veteran back. McCoy hurt the ADP of Damien Williams when he signed with the Chiefs after Buffalo released him right before the season, but by the end of the season, McCoy was a healthy scratch, so don't let him affect ADP too much wherever he lands. |

Philadelphia Eagles OT Lane Johnson and WR DeSean Jackson said in an Instagram show Friday, May 29, they're hoping to see free-agent RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) signed by management. 'I want to see it,' Johnson said about a McCoy reunion.
Footballguys view: McCoy has plenty of experience with the team and would be a good fit. The Eagles are looking for a veteran back behind Miles Sanders and McCoy is on their list. |

Eagles | No offer yet for LeSean McCoy Thu May 28, 08:21 PM
Free-agent RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) hasn't yet received an offer from the Philadelphia Eagles, despite interest from the team in bringing him back.
Footballguys view: There's no rush to bring McCoy in right now. The offseason is still in the 'virtual' mode with facilities just opening up around the league. McCoy is a seasoned veteran who knows the team, knows the offense and won't take much time to get up to speed. We'll see if the team brings him in as a veteran backup to Miles Sanders when training camp gets here. |

Eagles | Philadelphia looking at three RBs Thu May 21, 04:30 PM
Free-agent RB Devonta Freeman (Falcons), RB Carlos Hyde (Texans) and RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) are the three running backs the Philadelphia Eagles are currently considering signing, according to sources.
Footballguys view: The Eagles are looking for veteran depth behind Miles Sanders. It would be easy to bring back McCoy to the Eagles, and he knows what to do in that offense. He might be the cheaper of all the options listed. We should see all three of these backs sign somewhere before the start of training camp. |

Raiders | Vegas had interest in LeSean McCoy Thu May 14, 05:22 PM
Free-agent RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) received interest from the Las Vegas Raiders before the Raiders decided to sign RB Devontae Booker.
Footballguys view: McCoy says he wants to play for a contender and most feel he will land back with the Eagles. Booker over McCoy kind of says where McCoy is at in his pro career. He's not the same player he used to be but could give some team valuable veteran depth in 2020. McCoy looked good in flashes for the Chiefs but was a healthy scratch once they began their playoff run to the Super Bowl last year. |

Eagles | Philly a potential landing spot for LeSean McCoy? Wed May 13, 01:46 PM
Free-agent RB LeSean McCoy (Chiefs) is not in a hurry to sign with a new NFL team, but he is listening to offers. He plans to play for a 12th season in the league and would like to close out his NFL career the right way and to put a stamp on his career. While he is keeping his options open, McCoy said he could see himself returning to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he started his career. 'That's home, so you never know,' McCoy said. He believes he could provide veteran leadership to the team's existing backs and help RB Miles Sanders in his development.
Footballguys view: McCoy said he wants to sign with a contender earlier this offseason and the Eagles would qualify as that. He knows the team, they know him and they could use a veteran presence behind starter Miles Sanders. McCoy is not the same player he used to be but showed he's got something left in the tank with his 4.6 yards-per-carry average in 2019. |

Lions | LeSean McCoy sought by Detroit? Thu Mar 5, 05:28 PM
Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent RB LeSean McCoy is a sleeper pick free-agent target of the Detroit Lions, according to Chris Burke of The Athletic Thursday, March 5.
Footballguys view: McCoy might be added as a mentor to Kerryon Johnson. While he's not the same player he used to be (and needs to hang onto the rock), McCoy can still work well as veteran depth and a receiver out of the backfield. |

Chiefs | LeSean McCoy likely to walk Thu Mar 5, 11:40 AM
Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent RB LeSean McCoy is not expected to return to the Chiefs in 2020. The Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers are two potential landing spots.
Footballguys view: McCoy had some of his best years with the Eagles and could give them veteran depth behind Miles Sanders. The Chargers could use a veteran behind Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson as they move on from Melvin Gordon. There are also rumblings that the Lions would be interested in McCoy to serve as a mentor to Kerryon Johnson. |
