NFL | Deuce McAllister's home on the auction block     Fri Jul 15, 10:54 AM

A house owned by former RB Deuce McAllister is scheduled to be auctioned July 27. The auction could be called off before then, according to the Sheriff's Office. A sheriff's sale of the house originally had been scheduled for June. In the meantime, the two sides have been working toward a settlement. The scheduled sale stems from a writ of seizure resulting from a suit by Whitney National Bank against McAllister. According to the writ, McAllister owes $1.8 million on the mortgage with Whitney. That figure has been inflated by nearly $1 million because of two years' worth of added interest and other penalties while the negotiations were ongoing.

  Saints | McAllister re-signed     Fri Jan 15, 12:36 PM

WDSU.com reports the New Orleans Saints have re-signed RB Deuce McAllister, according to sources. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Sources said McAllister could provide pass protection and blocking as well as some depth at running back.

Footballguys view: The Saints have had injuries plague their RB corps all season long, and now look to Deuce to provide veteran depth in the postseason.

NFL | Duece McAllister sees Rams as the perfect fit    Wed May 27, 08:58 PM

In an interview with ESPN Radio in St. Louis, McAllister said he views the Rams as a perfect fit. McAllister, who spent much of last season standing on the sideline after two major knee injuries, said he still believes he can play. However, he did admit he'd be best suited as a part-time player who can help lighten the load of a featured back.

Footballguys view: The Rams traded away FB Brian Leonard, but still have Antonio Pittman, Kenneth Darby (3RB), Chris Ogbonnaya (3RB), and Sam Gado on the depth chart behind star RB Steven Jackson. McAllister's looming 4-game suspension certainly doesn't help his value in the eyes of NFL teams, and he may have to wait until mid-season to sign.

  Saints | Looking for a 1,000-yard rusher    Tue May 26, 09:20 AM

Les East, of The Advocate, reports the New Orleans Saints have not had a 1,000-yard rusher since former RB Deuce McAllister rushed for 1,057 yards in 2006 as he and RB Reggie Bush combined for 1,622 yards. In the last two seasons, the team's top three rushers have failed to match what McAllister and Bush had in 2006.

Footballguys view: Pierre Thomas has bulked up in the offseason and has to be considered the favorite to lead the Saints in carries.

NFL | Suspended players plan to appeal ruling    Mon May 25, 03:22 PM

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports unrestricted free-agent RB Deuce McAllister (Saints) said the five players who were suspended last season for testing positive for a banned substance plan to appeal a court ruling that upheld the NFL's suspensions.

Footballguys view: The ruling has little chance to be overturned but the players may just be looking to delay their imminent suspensions. In addition the players are considering a civil action against the manufacturer and distributor of StarCaps.

NFL | McAllister would be able to serve suspension as FA    Mon May 25, 03:21 PM

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports if unrestricted free-agent RB Deuce McAllister (Saints) is not on a roster to start the season, he still would be able to serve his four-game suspension when he is a free agent and could play for a team immediately after the suspension.

Footballguys view: We're looking for a silver lining here with Duece. Any team that signs him knows that he'll have to miss the first four games of the season, so they may actually wait until mid season to offer a contract to the veteran. Also, McAllister would lose out on his status as a vested veteran if he's not on an active roster through the first week of the season.

Saints | Grant, Smith, McAllister will serve four game suspensions    Sat May 23, 12:22 PM

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports that Saints DEs Charles Grant and Will Smith, and former Saints RB Deuce McAllister will have to serve their four game suspensions at the beginning of the season after a federal judge threw out their lawsuit on Friday.

Footballguys view: Bobby McCray and Jeff Charleston will have to hold down the fort in September, and newly signed Anthony Hargrove and preseason stud Rob Ninkovich could also contribute. This just increases the chances that early matchups against Philadelphia and Buffalo could turn into shootouts.

Saints | McAllister would not rule out returning to team    Fri May 15, 09:58 PM

Brett Martel, of the Associated Press, reports free-agent RB Deuce McAllister (Saints) said he would not rule out re-signing with the New Orleans Saints. McAllister said returning to New Orleans would be "a dream come true. ... But if it's on a visiting team, then so be it. All that will play itself out."

Footballguys view: The Saints are looking for depth behind Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas. RBs Mike Bell, Lynell Hamilton, P.J. Hill, and Herb Donaldson will all compete for the reserve power back role. Bell is best remembered for his time in Denver and while he's quick and somewhat powerful he is very limited as a runner. Lynell Hamilton burst onto the scene at San Diego State in his freshmen year, but injuries and inconsistencies marred the rest of his college career. P.J. Hill runs like a poor man's LenDale White. He's a big back that doesn't run with the power that he should, plus he's had 2 recent DUI arrests. Herb Donaldson is a big power back that is very swift. He can run through arm tackels and keeps his pads low but is unproven as a receiver.

NFL | D. McAllister hopes to start visiting teams too    Fri May 15, 09:57 PM

Brett Martel, of the Associated Press, reports free-agent RB Deuce McAllister (Saints) said he hopes to begin visiting teams interested in signing him in a few weeks.

Footballguys view: McAllister's best days are behind him but he's working out 5 hours a day at a facility run by Dr. James Andrews. Prospective teams will have to keep in mind that he may have a possible 4 game suspension looming, and that could hurt his chances of signing on. He'll already have a big enough task catching on with a team as a short yardage & goalline back.
