49ers | WR Williams in danger of being cut? Tue May 8, 03:32 PM
Matt Maiocco, from CSNBayArea.com, reports via Twitter that he believes WR Kyle Williams will face stiff competition for a roster spot.
Footballguys view: The 49ers have added multiple weapons to the WR corps this offseason. In free agency they added both Randy Moss and Mario Manningham. Then they surprised some by selecting WR A.J. Jenkins in the first-round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Williams mistake filled NFC Championship game certainly put his roster spot in danger. |

Giants | WR depth chart subject to change Thu Sep 10, 03:52 PM
Mike Garafolo, from the Newark Star-Ledger, reports the belief was the Giants would use the preseason games and training camp to sort out their wide-receiver depth chart, figure out who can play where and then head toward the regular season with a sorted list of players who will contribute at the position But frankly, the juggling isn't over. The process will continue into the regular season. "Definitely," offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said on Thursday. "Certainly, a lot of questions have been answered in our minds. Please understand I don't want to necessarily acknowledge it to them exactly what we're doing and who's going to be where, but some things have clarified themselves and some things are definitely still ongoing. Quite candidly, I think some guys are in a position to play more this Sunday, but as the year goes on, maybe other guys will become more and more an integral part of what we're doing. At least that's kind of what I think is going to happen."
Footballguys view: Hakeem Nicks is currently the fourth-string wide receiver, but if he continues to progress like he did in the preseason, he could quickly rise up the depth chart. The Giants will have an average passing game, so even if Nicks was the starter his potential would be limited on a run-heavy team. |
