Seahawks | Paxton Lynch OK after game    Mon Aug 19, 01:55 AM

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks QB Paxton Lynch (head) appeared to be fine after leaving with a head injury Sunday, Aug. 18. He was not available to the media, but was seen in the locker room talking to staffers and teammates. 'He felt like he was OK,' head coach Pete Carroll said. 'But he's still got to pass those (concussion protocol) test. So we have to recognize all the process and take care of that.'

Seahawks | Paxton Lynch makes case for No. 2 job    Fri Aug 9, 02:00 AM

Seattle Seahawks QB Paxton Lynch completed 11 of his 15 pass attempts for 109 yards and a touchdown and rushed four times for 38 yards and another score in a 22-14 preseason win over the Denver Broncos Thursday, Aug. 8, and Joe Fann of NBC Sports Northwest believes Lynch's performance made the competition between he and QB Geno Smith for the backup quarterback job 'much more interesting' going forward.

Seahawks | Seattle signs Paxton Lynch    Thu Jan 17, 04:23 PM

Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos) was signed to an undisclosed deal by the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, Jan. 17.

Footballguys view: Lynch was a bust with the Broncos of epic proportions. A first-round pick in 2016, Lynch never could earn the starting job in Denver over backup-caliber QB Trevor Siemian. Lynch was out of football for the 2018 season but did workout for several teams. He'll get a chance to compete for the backup spot to Russell Wilson in 2019.

Titans | Paxton Lynch, Ben Koyack hosted by Titans    Tue Oct 23, 07:51 PM

Free-agents QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos) and TE Ben Koyack (Jaguars) worked out for the Tennessee Titans Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Footballguys view: Lynch has yet to be signed after being released from the Broncos in early September. Quite a few teams have worked him out, yet nobody has taken a chance on the 2016 first-round pick. The Titans are updating their emergency list...and for good reason as Blaine Gabbert is the primary backup to starter Marcus Mariota.

Buccaneers | Tampa will not add Paxton Lynch    Sat Oct 6, 01:04 PM

Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos) worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week, but the team is not expected to offer him a contract.

Footballguys view: Lynch has worked out for several teams now but nobody is yet interested in adding the 2016 first-round pick (Broncos). His reputation seems to proceed him on these stops. Lynch is big, athletic and has a strong arm...but there were plenty of questions about his work ethic during his two years in Denver.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay hosts Paxton Lynch    Wed Oct 3, 01:23 PM

Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos) worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Footballguys view: Several teams have kicked the tires on Lynch, a 2016 first-round pick of the Broncos who was let go before the start of the regular season. Lynch has a reputation of having a questionable work ethic but he does have a strong arm and athleticism. In this QB-needy league, it's surprising nobody has yet to give him a new chance.

Redskins | Washington works out three players    Mon Sep 17, 05:47 PM

Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos), WR Michael Floyd (Saints) and WR Kendall Wright (Vikings) worked out for the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 17.

Footballguys view: Washington has only two quarterbacks on the active roster (Alex Smith, Colt McCoy) and they don't have a third quarterback on the practice squad. Since getting released by the Broncos, 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch has gotten a few teams interested. Indications are that he hasn't impressed during the interview process. We'll see if someone wants to take a chance on the physical attributes (size, arm strength) that Lynch clearly has.

Bills | Buffalo will host Paxton Lynch    Mon Sep 3, 05:56 PM

Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos) will work out for the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, Sept. 4, according to a source.

Footballguys view: This seems like an odd fit for workaholic Sean McDermott. Lynch was a first-round pick for the Broncos in 2016 but he was beat out by seventh-round picks (Trevor Siemian, Chad Kelly) two years in a row. Concerns about his work ethic and ability to run a pro offense surfaced during his time in Denver. Lynch passed through waivers unclaimed but there is some team who should be willing to take a chance on a 6'7" mobile quarterback with a rocket arm.

Broncos | Denver parts ways with Paxton Lynch    Sun Sep 2, 03:25 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch was waived Sunday, Sept. 2.

Footballguys view: And with that, the Broncos 2016 first-rounder is gone. The Cowboys loved him and might give him a chance, although they have three rosterable quarterbacks. Lynch should have another shot somewhere, but it might be his last.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch carves up Cardinals    Fri Aug 31, 02:27 AM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch completed 14 of 15 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, Aug. 30. It won't allow him to overtake QB Chad Kelly, in the opinion of ESPN's Jeff Legwold, but Lynch's performance could keep him on the 53-man roster.

Footballguys view: Lynch at best is on track to be a backup, but it took awhile to show signs of life. His roster spot is still not assured.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch struggles Saturday    Sat Aug 11, 11:35 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch completed six of his 11 passes for 24 yards and an interception against the Minnesota Vikings in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 11.

Footballguys view: Lynch probably isn't good enough to be the backup for the Broncos, or most teams, and Denver will need to ask themselves hard questions about whether they are ready to move on from a first-round pick in his third year. Chad Kelly is pushing to backup Case Keenum this year.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch, Chad Kelly struggling?    Fri Aug 3, 02:14 AM

The Denver Broncos could look into signing a veteran backup if QBs Paxton Lynch and Chad Kelly don't start showing more in training camp, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold.

Footballguys view: Lynch hasn't developed after being a first round pick, and Kelly looks like a Mr. Irrelevant in his first healthy camp. The Broncos aren't the only team in need of an upgrade at backup quarterback.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch staying ready    Sun Jun 17, 10:16 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch said he is 'very comfortable' running offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave's playbook and remains confident that he can lead the offense if called upon.

Footballguys view: Lynch has looked better this offseason and may have finally figured out what it takes to be a pro. A first-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Lynch has failed to beat out Trevor Siemian for two years. Now, Siemian is gone to the Vikings and Lynch now has no shot of being the starter so long as free agent addition Case Keenum is healthy. The team hasn't given up on Lynch just yet...and they may be the only people that have faith in Lynch to 'get it' and play up to his potential.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch improving    Sat Jun 2, 11:17 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch has been the best quarterback on the roster at making 'smart decisions' with the ball during OTAs, according to offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave.

Footballguys view: Lynch has looked better than ever before...in practice...with no pads on. The team (read; John Elway) may still believe in Lynch, but the 2016 first-round pick has failed to win the starting job in two years. This season, Lynch is no way in contention for the top spot. He's not relaxing per head coach Vance Joseph, but Lynch has always flashed with no/little pressure. Put him in pads when the tackling is live and then we'll see what kind of improvement he's really made.

Broncos | Chad Kelly may be No. 2 QB    Fri May 25, 08:31 PM

Denver Broncos QB Chad Kelly will compete with QB Paxton Lynch for the No. 2 quarterback job during training camp, according to general manager John Elway. Kelly and Lynch has been splitting snaps evenly with the second-team offense during offseason workouts.

Footballguys view: Somebody get our guy Cecil Lammey smelling salts, because he probably about fainted hearing the Broncos might get a little outlaw country under center this year. Kelly has all the tools you might want, but injury concerns as well as attitude and off field issues killed his value in the 2017 NFL Draft. But if he has his head on straight, he could end up being the long term answer for the Broncos at quarterback.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch is No. 2 QB for now    Fri Mar 16, 04:30 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch is the backup to QB Case Keenum, head coach Vance Joseph said Friday, March 16, although the team continues to look at top quarterback prospects in the 2018 NFL Draft. 'Paxton is still young,' president of football operations John Elway said. 'We still have high hopes for Paxton. He's a young guy that is talented. He's been here for two years and had a tough year last year with the injuries and everything, but we still have high hopes for Paxton to come in here and compete and continue to grow as a quarterback. That is the expectation for Paxton.'

Broncos | Paxton Lynch not fully healthy    Fri Dec 29, 12:34 AM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) is still bothered by his ankle, and the injury will be a 'factor' in Week 17, according to offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave.

Footballguys view: That probably means the team will run Lynch less by design and lower his fantasy ceiling. The Broncos offense is unreliable in Week 17 with Lynch at the helm.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch fully practices    Thu Dec 28, 06:38 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Footballguys view: Lynch would be going up against a tough Kansas City defense this week, so we're not really excited by his prospects. Don't drop him in your lineup.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch practices in full    Wed Dec 27, 06:34 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) was able to practice in full Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Footballguys view: Lynch is going to start in Week 17 against the Chiefs. There's no telling how he's going to perform because he has not impressed behind the scenes enough to win the job with multiple opportunities in two seasons. The 2016 first-round pick is looking like a bust, but the Broncos want to take one final look to see if there's any availability there.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch likely to start Week 17    Tue Dec 26, 12:18 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch is tentatively expected to start at home Week 17 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, according to head coach Vance Joseph.

Footballguys view: Good luck with that. Lynch, a first-round pick in 2016, has failed to win the starting job each of the last two years. He's only started three games in his short pro career, and Lynch has struggled in each of those games. The team needs to get a longer look at him, but even if he plays well against the Chiefs on Sunday we see the Broncos moving on. They're already scouting the top quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL draft and could make a big push for a veteran quarterback like Kirk Cousins.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch to play in Week 17    Mon Dec 25, 04:45 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) will receive playing time in Week 17, according to head coach Vance Joseph.

Footballguys view: He'll play and he should start for the Broncos in their season finale against the Chiefs. Lynch has not earned the opportunity to start for the Broncos in two seasons. His work ethic and desire are in question, in addition to a couple of injuries (shoulder, ankle) that have prevented him from being full strength. Even if Lynch plays well in Week 17, we doubt he is an option for the Broncos to start in 2018. Expect the team to make a strong move for a quarterback (either through the draft or free agency) this offseason.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch questionable    Fri Dec 22, 07:25 PM

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 22, but is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Footballguys view: If you're starting Demaryius Thomas or the Denver defense, you want Brock Osweiler to get the start at Washington this week. The team wants to get a longer look at Lynch, but if he isn't fully healthy, then what they observe might not be very telling.

Denver Broncos DT Domata Peko (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 21. Meanwhile, QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) was a limited participant.

Footballguys view: Lynch would have a better shot to start if his ankle was in better shape. The team wants to see him play before the end of the season, but his condition may prevent that from happening. The Broncos offense will be better off if Lynch sits.

Broncos | Denver's start will be decided later     Tue Dec 19, 02:26 PM

Denver Broncos QBs Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch (ankle) won't know who is starting Week 16 until the end of the week, according to general manager John Elway.

Footballguys view: Lynch should be the starter if the team feels he's done the work (and is healthy enough) to get on the field. Elway and the Broncos want to see how Lynch fares in practice before making a decision. They need to see Lynch as much as possible as the 2016 first-round pick has only made three starts in two seasons.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch to start?    Mon Dec 18, 11:39 AM

Footballguys view: Broncos head coach Vance Joseph was non-committal when asked if Lynch would start against Washington in Week 16. If Lynch starts, fantasy owners should consider Broncos skill position players even riskier starters during what should be your fantasy championship.
