Raiders | Marshawn Lynch open to returning    Wed May 1, 05:30 PM

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch is willing to play for the Oakland Raiders if they want to sign him, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Of course he is. We'd love it if Lynch came back, and the Raiders may want to consider it now that Isaiah Crowell has been lost for the season. They did sign Doug Martin on Wednesday, so Lynch will likely have to wait.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch has decided to retire Wednesday, April 24.

Footballguys view: Again. We'll miss Lynch, who looked like he turned back the clock before getting hurt last year. The Raiders are the favorites to take Alabama back Josh Jacobs with one of their two late first round picks.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch will decide after draft    Mon Mar 25, 04:49 PM

Footballguys view: We'll see if Lynch wants to continue playing for one more year. The Raiders are still in Oakland and that may be tempting for Lynch to stay and give the local fans something to cheer for before the team moves to Las Vegas in 2020.

Raiders | Oakland would welcome Marshawn Lynch    Tue Jan 22, 01:34 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch, an impending free agent this offseason, hasn't announced whether he plans on playing in 2019, but if he does, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said Tuesday, Jan. 22, that 'we'd love to have him back.'

Footballguys view: There have been reports about Lynch wanting to continue playing football. We'll know if that's coming to fruition soon enough. Lynch is not the same player he used to be and could not be counted on as the lead back if he does return -- to the Raiders or anywhere else -- in 2019.

Raiders | More on Marshawn Lynch's injury    Mon Oct 22, 06:09 PM

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (core, groin) was put on the Reserve/Injured list more so because of a core muscle issue than his groin injury.

Footballguys view: He may have had surgery this weekend. If he did then he could return in eight weeks. The Raiders move forward with Doug Martin as their lead back.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch placed on Injured Reserve    Mon Oct 22, 05:55 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 22.

Footballguys view: This move shows the injury was a little more severe than originally thought. Lynch may have surgery to repair the damage. He's eligible to return for the Raiders after eight weeks out of action. The Raiders are already tanking on the season, so Lynch may have played his final game with Oakland. The team moves forward with Doug Martin as their lead back and Jalen Richard should get some more work as a change-of-pace option.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch out at least a month    Fri Oct 19, 03:08 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) is expected to miss at least one month due to a groin injury after undergoing an MRI earlier in the week.

Footballguys view: Doug Martin is a limited ceiling option that is the better pickup in nonPPR leagues, but Jalen Richard could expand on a solid PPR profile fueled by poor play that puts Oakland behind in the second half. Richard is probably the better pickup in .5 PPR leagues too.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch set to undergo MRI    Tue Oct 16, 08:32 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) is expected to undergo MRI to determine the severity of the groin strain he suffered in Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks.   Raiders | Concern for Marshawn Lynch     Tue Oct 16, 04:32 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) could have a long-term issue with his groin ailment, according to head coach Jon Gruden.

Footballguys view: Keep an eye on this situation during the Raiders Week 7 bye. If Lynch has to miss time due to this injury then Doug Martin would step into a larger role. Jalen Richard is snaring quite a few passes as a receiver out of the backfield (31 catches, 253 yards) so far this year.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch rushed 13 times for 45 yards in Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks in London and he added three receptions for 14 yards.

Footballguys view: Lynch is almost impossible to trust in this Raiders offense despite a strong start to the season. He'll be worth carrying through the bye, but more as depth than a dedicated RB2.

Raiders | Week 6 injury report for Oakland    Fri Oct 12, 02:07 PM

Oakland Raiders OL Kelechi Osemele (knee) and DT Frostee Rucker (neck) were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 12, and are listed as doubtful for Week 6 versus the Seattle Seahawks. S Karl Joseph (hamstring) was also limited in practice Friday and is listed as questionable. C Rodney Hudson (ankle), DT Maurice Hurst (shoulder), OG Gabe Jackson (pectoral), LB Emmanuel Lamur (foot), RB Marshawn Lynch (hip) and OT Kolton Miller (knee) were all limited in practice Friday but have been removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: The Raiders are already starting rookies at both tackle positions. Osemele being out will hurt the whole offense and make any Raiders hard to feel good about this week.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is averaging 19.5 touches per game, his most since 2014, and head coach Jon Gruden said Lynch can handle the workload. 'We'll just keep feeding him Skittles and keep sending him out there as long as he can,' Gruden said.

Footballguys view: Lynch's carries have gone up each of the last three weeks and he cracked the century mark for the first time this season with 130 rushing yards against the Browns last week. Against the Chargers, we like recommending Lynch as a RB2 for Fantasy GMs.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) was limited in practice Saturday, Sept. 8, but he has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 1 game with the Los Angeles Rams.

Footballguys view: A good sign for the veteran back. His removal from the injury report makes Lynch a nice RB2 or flex play for Fantasy GMs in Week 1. They play the Rams on Monday night and the Raiders should use Lynch early and often...so long as they don't get blown out.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch limited again    Fri Sep 7, 04:15 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 7.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch limited in practice    Thu Sep 6, 07:19 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 6.

Footballguys view: We truly don't know what to expect from Jon Gruden and his Raiders, which makes it a bit dicey top rely on this backfield. Lynch is likely to be the lead back, but we don't think that's going to account for much against a tremendous defense, while the rest of the Oakland offense is forced to keep pace with a Rams offense which can score points early and often.

Seahawks | SEA still paying for Marshawn Lynch    Thu Jun 21, 10:46 AM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will take up more than $5 million on the Seattle Seahawks' salary cap in 2018 from his previous deal before he retired in 2016.

Footballguys view: Ouch. That's a lot of Skittles. Lynch came on strong late in the season, but at 32 it's hard for us to get a ton of enthusiasm for his production this year. Jon Gruden wants to run him a lot though, so he could very well outperform his ADP of 69 overall and No. 31 back off the board.

Raiders | RB competition in Oakland?    Tue May 29, 03:26 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Doug Martin could challenge RB Marshawn Lynch for starting running back duties, in the opinion of The Athletic's Vic Tafur.

Footballguys view: Lynch is the lead back at this time, but this is a potential competition that fantasy owners need to monitor. Reports indicate Martin looks quick and has shown burst at organized team activities so far. Lynch has a current ADP of RB32 (7.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch restructures    Wed Mar 21, 08:32 AM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch restructured his contract Saturday, March 17, and its base value is worth $5.5 million with $4.5 million guaranteed. He can earn up to $9.25 million with incentives.

Footballguys view: The Raiders are going to use a RBBC this year under OC Greg Olson. Doug Martin was brought in this offseason, and he should tag team with Lynch to give the Raiders a steady rushing attack.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch to receive bonus    Sat Mar 17, 05:07 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will receive his $1 million bonus Sunday, March 18, and will remain with the team, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Will they or won't they cut Lynch? That was the question for the veteran back and WR Michael Crabtree when Jon Gruden was hired as the head coach. The team parted ways with Crabtree to make room for Jordy Nelson, but recent reports indicate they'll stick with Lynch in 2018. Stay tuned.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch staying put    Thu Mar 15, 03:46 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will not be released despite the addition of RB Doug Martin.

Footballguys view: Lynch was first rumored to be a release candidate after Jon Gruden was hired as head coach. Then reports said Gruden wanted to keep him, then the Raiders added Martin and now this. After a whirlwind of activity in free agency, it seems like Lynch won't be joining that part.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch, Michael Crabtree not safe    Thu Mar 1, 08:50 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch and WR Michael Crabtree are not guaranteed roster spots next season because the team is uncomfortable with their 2018 salaries, according to sources. Lynch is scheduled to make $4 million in salary next season with the chance to make another $4 million in bonuses. Crabtree is scheduled to make $7 million with a chance for $1.05 million in bonuses.

Footballguys view: Things change quickly around here. When Jon Gruden was hired as the head coach of the Raiders, speculation was rampant that Lynch and Crabtree would be gone. Then, things seemed to take a turn and both were likely to stay. Now, reports are back to indicating how uncomfortable the Raiders are with paying Lynch and Crabtree's salaries. The team may look to restructure the contracts.

Raiders | Jon Gruden wants to work with Marshawn Lynch    Thu Feb 15, 12:39 AM

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said that he doesn't know if RB Marshawn Lynch will be on the roster in the upcoming season, but added that 'right now, he's our leading ball-carrier, he's our back, and we're counting on him.' Gruden also mentioned: 'Hopefully we get an opportunity to work together.'

Footballguys view: Gruden knows he could use a solid run game, and Lynch had moments last year. Still, he's on the wrong end of his career so we expect the Raiders to draft a running back at some point during the 2018 NFL Draft, though if Lynch is back, they won't spend an early pick on the position.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch has met with new coach    Fri Feb 9, 06:22 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch has met with head coach Jon Gruden on several occasions since the team hired Gruden, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Lynch is in the final year of his contract in 2018. He was solid in a comeback season with the Raiders in 2017, but there were concerns about his return when Gruden got the job as the new head coach in Oakland. It looks like Lynch is good to go with Gruden, and he's at least a RB2/flex option for fantasy owners as the Raiders lead back in 2018.

'I'd be doing Marshawn (Lynch) a disservice if I were to comment on what I thought of his play this previous season,' said offensive coordinator Greg Olson. 'Until we sit down, like I said, and do a real thorough evaluation and watching every carry that he's had and every catch opportunity to catch the football or run with the football, I really would not be making an educated comment on something like that right now.'
