Colts | Andrew Luck back in action    Thu Aug 9, 11:18 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) completed six of his nine pass attempts for 64 yards against the Seattle Seahawks in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9.

Footballguys view: Nothing of note happened, which is great news. Luck was able to be effective on high percentage passes and took some hits. Everything is on schedule for him to start Week 1 vs Cincinnati.

Colts | Andrew Luck will play sparingly    Thu Aug 9, 01:33 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is expected to play between two to four series, according to The Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer.

Footballguys view: The team will -- wisely -- be cautious with Luck. Things look good right now, and he doesn't look rusty, so why risk scuttling the season before it's begun with a Luck injury? The offensive line looks improved, he has some good targets and a defense which should keep him in games. He's a top-five talent hovering at 10 overall for quarterback ADP. If Fantasy GMs like what they see over the next few weeks in preseason, he could move up past that.

Colts | Andrew Luck to play in preseason opener    Fri Aug 3, 02:54 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is expected to play with the starters for about a quarter in the preseason opener versus the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Frank Reich.

Footballguys view: This is much better than anyone would have projected when Luck wasn't throwing a regulation football yet in the spring. If he doesn't have any setbacks, Luck should be good to go for Week 1 against Cincinnati and he's looking like a value at his current ADP.

Colts | Andrew Luck delivers in pads    Sun Jul 29, 10:03 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) took part in his first padded practice since 2016, completing 12 of his 14 pass attempts in 11-on-11 drills during training camp Sunday, July 29.

Footballguys view: We can dispose of the worst case scenarios that had Luck's Week 1 status up in the air as long as he doesn't have a setback. We're still hoping for Luck to at least play in the third preseason game to see him in live action, but things have gone well enough to justify the risk at ADP that goes along with the considerable possible reward in Luck's outlook.

Colts | Andrew Luck should play in preseason opener    Wed Jul 25, 04:28 PM

Footballguys view: The Colts don't need to rush it with Luck. If he does play in the first preseason game, we can't imagine him playing more than a series or two.

Colts | Andrew Luck airing it out    Wed Jul 25, 11:41 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has let loose on several throws in practice Wednesday, July 25, and has shown arm strength close to where he was before the injury.

Footballguys view: This news makes Colts fans and Fantasy GMs giddy with excitement. Colts head coach Frank Reich expects Luck to play early in the preseason, so it seems like things are going forward at full steam. If he hadn't been injured, Luck could've been a top-5 fantasy quarterback this year. That makes him a potential great value where he's currently getting drafted (QB12) if healthy. Luck is current coming off the board at the end of the 9th round (9.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Colts | Andrew luck cleared for training camp    Fri Jul 20, 02:25 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck will have no limitations with his surgically repaired shoulder and is 'good to go' for training camp, according to general manager Chris Ballard, who added Luck will take occasional days off but is fully healthy.

Footballguys view: Luck is finally healthy after two years of dealing with this problematic shoulder injury. He'll work with the starters, get some rest days here and there but by avoiding the PUP list it seems like Luck will be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season. The Colts and Fantasy GMs are hopeful we see the Luck of old in 2018.

Colts | Andrew Luck adapting to change    Mon Jun 18, 08:39 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) senses differences in how his shoulder reacts to new things this year. 'The pain is gone, and it's going to stay that way,' Luck said to reporters at minicamp. 'My body doesn't revolt, in a sense, to new things I ask.'

Footballguys view: Luck has to get over the physical nature of his injury, and there's a mental hurdle that can be significant when coming back from this type of situation. He'll need to learn a 'new normal' when it comes to being 100 percent healthy. Luck has begun throwing NFL footballs and is progressing well through his recovery. We should see him limited in the preseason as the Colts want him near full strength for the start of the regular season.

Colts | Andrew Luck on strict program for next six weeks    Sat Jun 16, 08:42 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is under a throwing regimen designed by head coach Frank Reich, a regimen designed to test how far Luck's shoulder has progressed.

Footballguys view: More positive news for Luck's recovery here. He seems to be on the right track both physically and mentally as he returns from this shoulder injury. If Luck passes all the tests, the team anticipates no limitations when training camp opens.

Colts | Andrew Luck makes some progress    Wed Jun 13, 06:49 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) threw 15 to 20 passes during practice Wednesday, June 13, including a 20-yard pass to RB Jordan Wilkins.

Footballguys view: This is what the Colts need to see from Luck as he returns from his shoulder injury. He was throwing a high school football earlier in minicamp, but on Wednesday Luck was throwing an official NFL football during practice. He is not scheduled to participate in practice Thursday, June 14.

Colts | Andrew Luck resumes throwing    Tue Jun 12, 01:38 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) threw a football for the first time since October of 2017 on Tuesday, June 12. Luck reportedly threw about 10 passes at Tuesday's mandatory minicamp, none for more than 10 yards. The Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer reports he'll ramp up his regimen over the next six weeks.

Footballguys view: Luck is making progress as he was throwing a high school ball in minicamp on Tuesday. After practice, Luck said that he had been throwing an NFL ball "The Duke" but is working back up to that in a formal setting. Colts owner Jim Irsay swears up and down that Luck is going to be a 'full go' for training camp, but we'll take a wait-and-see approach. This is good news, but it's far from over for the Colts franchise quarterback.

Colts | Andrew Luck close to throwing    Thu Jun 7, 02:42 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is 'real close' to finally throwing a football again, according to head coach Frank Reich. Luck will essentially decide when he does start throwing.

Footballguys view: It's really hard to believe this, as it's something we have heard a bunch and yet it hasn't happened. Even when we see it, he still will need to show confidence in his arm and taking a hit. Add in the continuing issues on offense and Luck is a hard guy to pin down. Right now, he has an ADP of 108 and is the 13 quarterback coming off the board. If you could grab him there, especially as a QB2, you could strike gold if he's healthy, while mitigating risk if he isn't.

Colts | Andrew Luck may not throw for a while    Wed May 23, 10:05 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) did not throw during organized team activities Wednesday, May 23, and head coach Frank Reich said he is not sure if Luck will throw before the end of June minicamp but is confident that Luck will ramp things up in time for training camp.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners are incredibly nervous about this situation and for good reason. The nerves can be calmed down if/when Luck starts throwing and shows no setbacks. He's QB14 (10.05) at this time in 12-team PPR leagues.

Colts | Teams looked to acquire Andrew Luck    Sat Apr 28, 05:47 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck was a trade target for a few teams, but the Colts did not consider any trade offers, according to owner Jim Irsay.

Footballguys view: What you can take away from this is multiple teams think Luck plays again, and probably this year. Which is good news for the Colts and Luck's fantasy owners.

Colts | Andrew Luck not throwing    Wed Apr 25, 11:46 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is participating in every part of minicamp except throwing, according to head coach Frank Reich.

Footballguys view: There has been some signs of optimism coming from the Colts regarding Luck, but we won't pencil him to be something resembling his old self in 2018 until he can throw.

Colts | Andrew Luck not throwing at minicamp    Tue Apr 24, 01:28 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was present for the start of the team's veteran minicamp Tuesday, April 24, but he will not throw a football at any point - just as general manager Chris Ballard suggested would be the case a few days earlier.

Footballguys view: Luck has not thrown a regulation sized football as he continues to recover from this major shoulder injury. The hope is that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season, and we'll be monitoring this situation closely as training camp draws near in late July.

Colts | Andrew Luck has not thrown football yet    Mon Apr 9, 02:09 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) said he has not thrown a regular football at this point because he does not want to skip any steps in his rehab. He said he trusts the process he is going through with his recovery.

Footballguys view: It's an alarming headline to be sure, but for now we'll trust the process as well. So long as there are no setbacks, Luck is scheduled to be ready for the start of training camp. That being said, expect the Colts to ease him back into action once they can.

Colts | Andrew Luck throwing    Tue Mar 27, 08:08 AM

Updating an ongoing story, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has begun throwing a football, according to head coach Frank Reich.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has 'turned the corner,' according to owner Jim Irsay, who added that 'all indicators are (the) healing is going really well and we feel really optimistic.' The 'expectation' is that Luck will be on hand when the team begins their offseason conditioning program April 9.

Footballguys view: This is the best possible news we could hear at this time. Luck may be there for OTAs but the Colts will wisely keep him limited. Even when we get to training camp and the preseason, Luck may not be taking on a full workload.

Updating an ongoing story, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is on track to join the team's offseason program April 2, head coach Frank Reich said Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: This is the best news Colts fans could get...and fantasy owners should be pretty happy too. Reich said Luck 'checked every box.' It doesn't mean he's a lock for Week 1, but it certainly looks like Luck is on the right track.

Colts | Indy hopes to have Andrew Luck at OTAs    Tue Feb 20, 06:24 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is still rehabilitating his throwing shoulder, but head coach Frank Reich hopes his star quarterback is healthy enough to participate in organized team activities.

Footballguys view: Reich can hope all he wants, but we'd be shocked if Luck did much of anything in OTAs during the spring. Luck just started throwing again, and the Colts need to be wise with him for the rest of the recovery time that is needed.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck and company will implement a strong element of no huddle into their offensive game plans, according to new head coach Frank Reich. 'We want to impose our will on the opponent,' Reich said.

Footballguys view: Reich knows all about the up-tempo offense. Dating back to his days backing up Jim Kelly in the Bills K-Gun offense, Reich has been innovative as a designer of offense. Provided that Andrew Luck is healthy, we're excited about the Colts offense with Reich leading the way.

Colts | GM says no Andrew Luck surgery    Wed Feb 7, 11:28 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) doesn't require more surgery, according to general manager Chris Ballard. 'He doesn't need surgery,' Ballard said. 'I've not gotten than from the two doctors. He's not throwing a football yet and is working on arm speed. He's not going to skip a step.'

Footballguys view: It would help a lot of the buzz around Luck if he could start throwing again. All in due time according to Ballard. The team seems optimistic Luck will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Colts | Concern Andrew Luck may need more surgery?    Tue Feb 6, 09:34 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) may not out of the woods yet regarding his right shoulder, as ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported 'there still are doctors who have concerns about Luck's shoulder and whether he could wind up needing additional surgery.'

Footballguys view: There have been rumors about this for some time. Luck has been in Europe recovering from his shoulder problem, and when Josh McDaniels backed out of the head coaching gig more rumors about Luck's shoulder problem began to surface.

Colts | Andrew Luck close to throwing again    Tue Jan 30, 12:04 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is doing functional work - such as working on his motion and arm speed - to get strength back in the shoulder and is reportedly 'very close' to throwing again, according to a source. He is also reportedly headed out to the Los Angeles area in the near future to work with noted throwing mechanics and strength gurus Tom House and Adam Dedeaux.

Footballguys view: We will be watching this closely, but won't be penciling in Luck for the 2018 season until we see him on the practice field after last year's debacle. This news is good, but Luck is far away from being out of the woods, and we won't know if he'll be his old self again until he plays at least a handful of games.

Colts | Andrew Luck will be back next year    Mon Jan 1, 04:55 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will be back 'with a fierce fire in his eyes' in 2018, according to team owner Jim Irsay.

Footballguys view: Luck has been in Europe rehabbing his injured shoulder. There were earlier concerns that Luck would need another procedure on the injury, but those have subsided in recent weeks. We like that Irsay is positive but we'd like to see Luck look like his old self before proclaiming any sort of 'fire' when it comes to his game. He hasn't looked like himself when he was healthy as the constant beating he's taken with the Colts has changed his mechanics. We hope Luck can get back to looking like the generational quarterback he was coming out of Stanford.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) said he believes that he will be ready for the start of offseason workouts.

Footballguys view: Hope is not a strategy, but that's what we're left with in the case of Luck. He's been in Europe rehabbing this injury and there was buzz about him needing another surgery. At this time, the Colts plan on having Luck ready at the beginning of the 2018 season. We shall see....so stay tuned.

He could undergo a corrective surgery in January if he does continue to feel pain but is optimistic that he will avoid surgery. He would be sidelined three to six months if he has another surgery.

Colts | Rift brewing with Irsay and Andrew Luck?    Tue Nov 7, 10:29 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) could have a rift brewing with owner Jim Irsay, in the opinion of WTHR.com's Bob Kravitz. Former Colts head coach Tony Dungy told Dan Patrick during a commercial cut-in of his radio show that Irsay told him what he believes holding Luck back is more mental than it is physical. Dungy followed up with Irsay told him six weeks ago that the injury is in Luck's head now. Patrick brought up the fact that Irsay expected Luck back at the start of the season or early in the season, Dungy replied: 'They obviously believed it because they did nothing to prepare for him not being there.'

Footballguys view: It seems like there's always something brewing between the Irsay family and Colts quarterbacks (see John Elway and Peyton Manning). Luck should have been back by now, but a setback to the shoulder injury caused him to be shut down for the year. If Luck is right post-injury, he can still be a top-10 quarterback in the NFL and for fantasy owners. Whether or not he's staying with the Colts makes for great sports talk radio.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's (shoulder) surgically repaired right shoulder 'stopped getting better' about a week and a half ago, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL.com, and Luck was advised by doctors to stop throwing for a few months.

Footballguys view: The questions about Luck's future are real now with this confirmation.   Colts | Andrew Luck seeking additional opinions    Wed Nov 1, 02:05 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is seeking more opinions to determine why his surgically repaired right shoulder hasn't healed as expected, according to a team source.

Footballguys view: Luck was supposed to be back by now, and things are trending towards him not even suiting up for one game in 2017. The Colts just need to get this right as Luck is one of the best young QBs in the league and they don't want to ruin his career.
