NFL | Bryce Love goes unclaimed    Tue Apr 20, 07:21 PM

Former Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love cleared waivers Tuesday, April 20, and is now a free agent.

Footballguys view: It could be some time before Love gets another shot in the league. He was a beast at Stanford before his knee injury but hasn't been the same in years.

Football Team | Bryce Love let go    Mon Apr 19, 02:48 PM

Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love was waived Monday, April 19, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The story will always read "what might have been" when it comes to Love. He followed up Christian McCaffrey at Stanford and was phenomenal. Then, he injured his knee severely and hasn't been the same since. With Washington moving on from him, Love hits the open market and there may be a team who picks him up based on the potential that is there if he were to ever regain his form. At this point, that seems unlikely.

Football Team | Bryce Love unlikely to play in 2020    Tue Dec 1, 05:29 PM

Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love (knee) hasn't practiced much since he was designated for return from the Reserve/Injured list nearly three weeks ago, and it appears as if he will remain on the Reserve/Injured list as the 21-day window to activate him expires Wednesday, Dec. 2, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.

Footballguys view: Love's pro career is likely to be summed up as 'what might have been.' Before his injury at Stanford, Love was a dangerous playmaker who took over that backfield after Christian McCaffrey left for the pro and looked fantastic. His knee has been a problem ever since. We'll continue to monitor him in crazy deep dynasty formats but that's about it.

Football Team | Bryce Love may return soon    Wed Nov 11, 01:45 PM

Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love (knee) has been designated to return from the Reserve/Injured list and was scheduled to participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 11, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Love could be a big-play back in the NFL if he can ever stay healthy and return to the form he showed in college at Stanford. We'll continue to monitor him in deep dynasty formats.

Football Team | Week 4 injury report for Washington    Fri Oct 2, 02:46 PM

Washington Football Team WR Steven Sims (toe) and DE Chase Young (groin) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens. RB Bryce Love (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and has also been ruled out. LB Cole Holcomb (knee) was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday but has been ruled out as well. WR Terry McLaurin (thigh) and LB Kevin Pierre-Louis (illness) did not practice Friday and are listed as questionable. DE Ryan Anderson (ankle) and OT Morgan Moses (hip) practiced in full Friday and are also listed as questionable. WR Dontrelle Inman (wrist), DE Ryan Kerrigan (non-injury) and OT Saahdiq Charles (thigh) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: McLaurin isn't a sure thing for Week 4, but he should play. Logan Thomas might be set up for a good game with Sims out and the Ravens having a strength at outside corner in their defense.

Football Team | Bryce Love placed on IR    Fri Oct 2, 01:10 PM

Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love (knee) on Friday, Oct. 2, was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a swollen knee. Head coach Ron Rivera said the injury is not expected to be season-ending.

Footballguys view: Love has never gotten back to his standout form in college. Even if he returns this year, it's probably time to move on in dynasty leagues.

The Washington Football Team have declared QB Alex Smith, OT David Sharpe, OT Saahdiq Charles, RB Bryce Love, LB Thomas Davis and CB Kendall Fuller inactive for Week 1.

Footballguys view: Antonio Gibson has less competition for touches with Love out. Fuller is the best player in the Washington secondary and they will miss him if the pass rush doesn't get home.

Football Team | Washington to use committee at RB    Wed Sep 9, 01:51 PM

Washington Football Team RBs Peyton Barber, Antonio Gibson, Bryce Love and J.D. McKissic are all candidates to receive playing time in Week 1 since head coach Ron Rivera said the team will use a committee approach at the position.

Footballguys view: The Football Team has some interesting options in the backfield. Gibson is arguably the best all-around talent and he can work well as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. Love has explosive capability and can make field-flipping plays. Barber is a solid-yet-unspectacular veteran. McKissic is listed as the no.1 back on the depth chart and is a pass-catching back. This RBBC is one Fantasy GMs should avoid early and give it some time to see how it plays out.

Football Team | Bryce Love No. 2 in Washington?    Wed Aug 19, 04:02 PM

Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love worked with the first-team offense Wednesday, Aug. 19, with RB Adrian Peterson out. Love's role as the No. 2 running back in Washington 'seems quite real,' according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

Footballguys view: Love has amazing skill as a runner if healthy. He followed up Christian McCaffrey in college at Stanford and was outstanding when healthy. Love had a redshirt year as a rookie in 2019 as he continued on the road to recovery. He is a player we have been interested in for quite some time and will monitor him in dynasty formats.

Football Team | Bryce Love one to watch    Mon Aug 10, 09:14 AM

Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love (knee) is looking and feeling well, and he could be a surprise in the backfield, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Love followed up Christian McCaffrey at Stanford and was a fantastic college running back when healthy. A knee injury caused his production to decline and that injury lingered into his first pro season in 2019. Last year served as a redshirt season for Love. Even though they picked him up in the fourth round, Washington wanted to get Love back to full strength. Now, it seems like he's there and has the playmaking ability to be a difference maker in the NFL. Love will compete with guys like Adrian Peterson and Antonio Gibson for playing time in 2020.

Redskins | Some clarity in Washington backfield?    Wed Jun 17, 10:33 PM

Washington Redskins RBs Adrian Peterson and Derrius Guice will likely split carries to begin the season, while RB J.D. McKissic serves as the third-down back, according to Kyle Stackpole of the team's website. Stackpole also expects RB Antonio Gibson to be used 'in all sorts of different plays and formations.' However, he's not sure what kind of role would be left for RB Bryce Love.

Footballguys view: That's a little bit of clarity in a jumbled situation. This is a three-headed RBBC with Antonio Gibson working as a RB/WR to make it four mouths to feed at the position. It's good for Washington but bad for Fantasy GMs trying to navigate this jam-packed room.

Redskins | Adrian Peterson could see reduced workload    Sat May 23, 10:18 AM

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson is likely to see a reduced workload in 2020, due to the offseason acquisitions of RBs Peyton Barber and J.D. McKissic, the selection of RB/WR Antonio Gibson in the draft and the returns of RBs Derrius Guice and Bryce Love from knee injuries. However, there is a possibility that the Redskins could have multiple running backs on the field at the same time, based on early Zoom meetings Peterson has had with the coaching staff.

Footballguys view: Peterson brings plenty of power to the Washington backfield, something most of the other backs listed do not have. This is a talented group of running backs if they're all healthy, and it will be interesting to see who emerges from the cluster. From a fantasy perspective, this Washington RBBC is going to be problematic to predict.

Redskins | Bryce Love eyeing OTAs    Thu Mar 5, 09:28 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) said Thursday, March 5, that his goal is to be participating in OTAs.

Footballguys view: We have some interest in Love when it comes to super deep dynasty formats. We'll see if he can get healthy and regain the form he had during his junior season at Stanford when he was one of the most dangerous backs in college football. Love is trying to earn a spot on the depth chart behind Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson.

Redskins | Bryce Love should be ready to play    Wed Feb 26, 04:52 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) should be ready for the start of the 2020 season, according to vice president of player personnel Kyle Smith.

Footballguys view: Do not forget about Love in deep dynasty formats. Injuries have robbed him of his chance to showcase his skill in the NFL so far as he missed his rookie season last year. Love was incredible in his junior year at Stanford when he followed up Christian McCaffrey as their starter. He's never been able to duplicate that success due to injury. If healthy, he could be a dangerous change-of-pace weapon for Washington.

Redskins | Bryce Love to have role next season?    Sat Feb 8, 09:16 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) could be the third-down back next season, according to John Keim of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Love is an exciting player with the ball in his hands...at least he was at Stanford before injuries started to pile up. Washington selected him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft even though they knew he could end up missing his rookie season (which he did) due to a knee injury suffered in the final game of his college career. We're interested to see what Love looks like hopefully back at full strength. He could end up as more than just a change-of-pace back.

Redskins | Bryce Love to have another surgery    Mon Oct 21, 09:55 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) will have another knee surgery on Tuesday, Oct. 22, a source said.   Redskins | Derrius Guice nearing return?    Wed Oct 16, 03:44 PM

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) could return to practice next week, according to head coach Bill Callahan Wednesday, Oct. 16. RB Bryce Love (knee) will need more time, Callahan said.

Footballguys view: Guice is on Injured Reserve but eligible to return two weeks after he's activated. When the happens, the countdown to his return can begin. Until then, Washington continues with Adrian Peterson as their lead back.

Redskins | Bryce Love to miss start of season    Mon Aug 26, 09:44 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) will start the regular season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Footballguys view: This was expected for the talented but injured rookie. Love needs to get to full strength and get back to where he was a couple of years ago at Stanford when he was one of the best running backs in the country. Washington would have one helluva steal if Love can regain his skill. We'll continue to monitor him in dynasty formats.

Redskins | Bryce Love likely to miss start of season    Wed Jul 31, 07:28 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) likely will not be on the active roster at the start of the regular season, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Love is currently on the Active/Non-Football Injury list. The rookie from Stanford can make plays as a runner or receiver out of the backfield when healthy. He's a weapon who is a fine stash in deep dynasty formats.

Redskins | Bryce Love unlikely to be ready for opener    Fri Jun 28, 02:21 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) is not expected to be ready for the start of the season as he continues to recover from surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Footballguys view: Chris Thompson should open the season as the passing down back and he has turned that into consistent fantasy value in the past. He can't stay healthy for too long, but Thompson's best ball and late round PPR appeal are intact on this news.

Redskins | PUP list likely for Bryce Love    Sat Jun 15, 06:33 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) likely will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Footballguys view: Love fell to the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft due to concerns that his knee injury could cause him to miss his rookie season. The latest reports out of Washington speculate that Love could be ready in mid-training camp...but that might be overly optimistic. We just hope he gets healthy. Love at full strength could be a dynamic player as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. We'll monitor him in deep dynasty formats.

Redskins | Bryce Love taking his time    Sun Jun 2, 10:06 PM

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) said his main focus is on individual drills during spring workouts as he recovers from knee surgery. 'With what I've got, you've got to kind of be slow with it,' Love said. 'Make sure you do it right, make sure you're 100 percent before you're ready to go.'

Footballguys view: We are waiting anxiously to see if Love can return to form. Two years ago at Stanford, Love looked like a lock to be a first-round pick. Then a knee injury knocked his career off track and Washington was able to scoop him up in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. He's a dynamic runner who can make defenders look silly in the open field. Love is buried on the depth chart at this time, but we love taking a chance on that natural talent in dynasty formats.

Redskins | Washington signs eight from draft class    Thu May 9, 05:18 PM

Washington Redskins first-round QB Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State), fourth-round RB Bryce Love (Stanford), fourth-round OG Wes Martin (Indiana), fifth-round C Ross Pierschbacher (Alabama), fifth-round LB Cole Holcomb (North Carolina), sixth-round WR Kelvin Harmon (North Carolina State), seventh-round CB Jimmy Moreland (James Madison) and DE/LB Jordan Brailford (Oklahoma State) to four-year contracts Thursday, May 9. Financial terms of the deals were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys view: Haskins is the quarterback of the future in Washington. Only Case Keenum is in front of him on the depth chart, and he should be able to surpass him in training camp. Love is a dynamic playmaker who didn't look the same last year coming back from a knee injury. Put on the 2017 Stanford tape and you'll see one of the most exciting backs in college football. We'll see if Love can push a guy like Chris Thompson for playing time when it comes to being a change-of-pace back behind Adrian Peterson.

NFL | Bryce Love's knee health a concern    Fri Apr 19, 01:28 PM

Former Stanford RB and 2019 NFL Draft prospect Bryce Love's stiff knee is a concern for NFL teams as they worry about Love being able to regain the movement and explosiveness he showed before undergoing ACL reconstruction in the 2018 season.

Footballguys view: Love has talent but his injury history might scare off some teams. If healthy, Love could prove to be a value pick...likely near the end of the draft.

NFL | Bryce Love could sit in 2019    Tue Apr 9, 02:29 AM

Stanford RB Bryce Love (knee) is hoping to be back on the field this summer for training camp after undergoing surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament Dec. 18, but Field Level Media's Rob Rang suggests it is a possibility Love could be given a 'redshirt rookie year' to give him plenty of time to complete his recovery.

Footballguys view: Right now, Love is only four months post surgery. It's a bit optimistic to believe that he'll be at full strength at the beginning of the regular season. Some team could find him as a value pick in the last round of the draft. If Love is healthy, he's explosive and can make big plays as a runner or receiver out of the backfield.

Stanford RB Bryce Love (knee) tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against California on Dec. 1 but is currently in rehab and on the 'path to recovery for the 2019 NFL Draft after undergoing surgery on Dec. 18 with Dr. James Andrews.

Footballguys view: He chose to come back to Stanford for the 2018 season but ended up injured. Love is expected to make a full recovery but will not participate in the NFL Combine in late February. Love battled injuries for most of 2018 and it hurt his draft stock.

NCAA | Bryce Love staying for senior year    Tue Jan 16, 09:24 AM

Stanford RB Bryce Love, a Heisman Trophy runner-up, will return for his senior season in 2018. His 8.1 yards per rush last season was the best in FBS history.

Footballguys view: Love was fantastic for Standford this year, and he's looking to duplicate or exceed his numbers from 2017 next season. He was second in the FBS in 2017 with 2,118 rushing yards and got 19 rushing touchdowns as well. Love was sixth in the FBS with 52 carries that went for 10 yards or more. Losing him in this draft class is a bummer, but this is still a great crop of RBs entering the league in 2018.
