Browns | Jennings seeing more playing time Fri Nov 20, 10:14 PM
Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns RB Chris Jennings will see more playing time at the expense of RB Jamal Lewis and RB Jerome Harrison. Jennings saw seven carries in the team's Week 10 game. Lewis had 10 carries and Harrison never touched the ball. Head coach Eric Mangini said, "We wanted to take a look at Chris because I think he's earned a look based on the things that he's done and that was something that we did this past week. If he continues to progress in practice, I think that will continue to be the case." Lewis said Jennings has gotten more reps during practices this week.

Browns | Mangini denies overworking players Sat Nov 14, 10:06 AM
The Associated Press reports Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini defended the way he runs his practices following comments made by RB Jamal Lewis in which he said Mangini overworks his players. Mangini maintains his practices are not any longer or more physical than ones he's conducted in the past. 'I feel good about the way we practice, the time we practice,' Mangini said. 'Two hours of work on the field is a very reasonable time. The only time that practices are extended is if we don't execute something the right way.'

Browns | J. Lewis would like to partially own an NFL team Sat Nov 7, 12:51 AM
Marla Ridenour, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis said he is ready to focus on his trucking company and other business ventures. Lewis also said he would like to be part-owner for an NFL team. Lewis added, "Whichever one of the owners would want to invite me in. I've made multimultimillions, I think it's time to move up to another step. It's about the money, but it's (also) about what you can instill in a team. A lot of the views I have, the teams I've been on, there's a lot of things I would have done different if I were in that position. You would make some decisions that actually matter, when as a player your decisions don't matter."

Browns | J. Lewis wanted to leave on his own terms Sat Nov 7, 12:34 AM
Marla Ridenour, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis said Wednesday, Nov. 4, that he would like to leave on his own terms, much like former Browns RB Jim Brown. Lewis is planning to retire after the 2009 season, even though he has a year left on his contract. Brown walked away from football after nine seasons to make movies. Lewis said, "He left on his own terms . . . and I like that. When I came into this league, I modeled (myself) after Jim Brown and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps in everything he did. One of my main goals was to leave when I wanted to. My plans pretty much worked out the way I planned them 10 years ago."

Browns | J. Lewis unsure of offense's direction Mon Nov 2, 02:22 AM
Marla Ridenour, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis is planning to retire after the 2009 season. Lewis is leading the team's rushing game with 349 yards on the season, but he is averaging only 3.6 yards per carry and has not scored a touchdown. Lewis said he is becoming increasingly baffled about what the team's offense is trying to get done. Lewis said, "At the beginning of training camp, working as hard as we did, buying into everything that's going on, buying into the system, that's what needed to happen. I think that everybody bought in. That's when you did have a real clue as to where we were going and what we were trying to do. But then once things start going, week after week after week after week, it seemed like a blur."

Scott Petrak, of The Medina County Times, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 9, but will be a game-time decision in Week 5.
| Our view: Even if Lewis is completely healthy we like Jerome Harrison more. Once the Browns get behind Lewis is a non-factor because he's not a great receiving option. This means Harrison will be more involved, and he has good ability in open space. |

Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) was limited during the team's practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

CBSSports.com reports Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini said he cautiously optimistic that RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) and PK Phil Dawson (calf) will be able to play in Week 4.

Browns | Lewis ruled out Week 3 Sat Sep 26, 07:18 PM
Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) has been ruled out of the team's Week 3 game.
| Our view: With Lewis out against his former team, the Ravens, we should see more of both Jerome Harrison and rookie James Davis. In this tough matchup against Baltimore we expect the Browns to abandon the running game and try to beat them through the air. Harrison and Davis can be effective weapons as receivers out the backfield, and most of their production should come in the passing game. |

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports that Browns RB Jerome Harrison has been getting first-team reps while Jamal Lewis has been missing practice. Rookie RB James Davis is also fully participating in practice.
| Our view: Harrison is a decent flex play in PPR leagues because he's a good receiver out of the backfield, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him break a long play or two. Harrison has always been productive when he has got touches in the past, he just hasn't gotten many touches. |

Browns | Lewis misses practice Wednesday Wed Sep 23, 04:21 PM
Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 23.
| Our view: Lewis is going up against his former team this week, and would love to run hard against Baltimore. Running room is always hard to find against the Ravens, so we're not expecting a huge week from Lewis if he does play. The Ravens have been vulnerable against the pass, but Brady Quinn is limited as a quarterback and doesn't like to challenge the edges of a defense. |

Browns | J. Lewis has a lot to contribute to offense Mon Sep 7, 01:44 AM
George M. Thomas, of The Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini said he thinks RB Jamal Lewis has 'a lot to contribute' to the team this year. 'I'm looking forward to seeing him as we go throughout the season,' Mangini said. Lewis, as noted here several times, was speculated to be on the bubble, but remains with the team. 'I think one thing that happens during any transitional time in the league is that there's always speculation on a lot of different topics,' Mangini noted about the reports surrounding Lewis' potential release.
| Our view: There was too much smoke around Lewis for there not to be some fire of the team considering his release. The emergence of James Davis has made him the better pick in the double-digit rounds. We hope you avoided Lewis his summer ADP of the 7th-9th round. |

Browns | Jamal Lewis stays on roster Sat Sep 5, 06:22 PM
Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis survived being on the bubble and remains with the Browns after they cut their roster down.
| Our view: We still think that if the talk of Lewis getting cut scared you out of drafting him the last few days, you'll eventually be happy he's not on your team. If you must have a Browns RB on your roster, make sure it's rookie James Davis. He has flashed big time playmaking ability this preseason, and can be effectively used as a receiver out of the backfield. |
