Bills | Shaq Lawson moving around    Fri Aug 3, 05:19 PM

Buffalo Bills DE Shaq Lawson has been lining up at defensive end during offseason workouts but has also worked as a defensive tackle on third-down situations.

Footballguys view: The Bills are hoping to harvest some of the first-round investment they made in Lawson back in 2016. If the team is competitive this year, the defense will have to be the unit that keeps them in games.

Bills | GM says Shaq Lawson has disappointed    Wed Jun 27, 04:48 PM

Buffalo Bills DE Shaq Lawson has not lived up to expectations since entering the league and training camp will be an important time for him, according to general manager Brandon Beane. Beane said Lawson performed well during offseason workouts.

Footballguys view: A first-round pick of the Rex Ryan regime back in 2016, Lawson has only six sacks in 21 career games. Reports earlier this year indicate that Lawson has lost 12 pounds and is dedicated himself to getting into better shape. It's a make-or-break year for Lawson, and some who cover the Bills believe he's not only competing for a spot in the rotation but also his spot on the 53-man roster.

Bills | Shaq Lawson uncertain for roster?    Wed Jun 20, 05:12 PM

Buffalo Bills DE Shaq Lawson is expected to compete for a rotational spot during training camp and could be on the roster bubble if other players outperform him.

Footballguys view: A first-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Lawson has only played 21 games over the last two seasons. During that time, Lawson has looked like an odd fit and only has 6.0 sacks with the Bills. The team may also consider trading Lawson if he does not make the 53-man roster.

Bills | Shaq Lawson at lowest playing weight    Thu May 31, 06:52 PM

Buffalo Bills LB Shaq Lawson said he lost 12 pounds this offseason in an effort to get in better shape and avoid injury, after missing 12 games, including the club's lone postseason contest, over the last two years. He's at 263 pounds now -- the 'lightest' he's ever been -- and at 17 percent body fat. Lawson mentioned his goal entering the upcoming campaign is to be at 260 with 15 percent body fat.

Footballguys view: Lawson, a first-round pick in 2016, has never played a full 16-game season. Injuries have held him to just 21 games in two seasons with the Bills. There is no question that 2018 is a make-or-break year for Lawson. He's under contract through 2020 (a club option in the final year) and needs to start playing up to his potential.

Bills | Shaq Lawson impressive    Tue Jul 18, 11:02 PM

Buffalo Bills DE Shaq Lawson has looked 'fantastic with his hand in the ground coming off the edge so far,' according to fellow defensive end Jerry Hughes.

Footballguys view: A 4-3 defensive end in college at Clemson, Lawson was drafted in the first round last year and played outside linebacker for Rex Ryan. With Ryan gone and Sean McDermott taking over, Lawson will go back to his more natural position.

Bills | Shaq Lawson comfortable with defense    Mon Jul 10, 06:57 PM

Buffalo Bills DE Shaq Lawson said he is comfortable with the defense that head coach Sean McDermott is bringing to the team because it is the same scheme he played at Clemson.

Footballguys view: He was a 4-3 defensive end in college but Rex Ryan wanted him to play outside linebacker in the Bills 3-4 last season. That just didn't fit his game and Lawson struggled through injuries as a rookie. More comfortable and in a better fit, Lawson can thrive as an edge-setting defensive end.
