Football Team | Cody Latimer let go    Sun Aug 23, 02:33 PM

Washington Football Team WR Cody Latimer was released Sunday, Aug. 23.

Footballguys view: Latimer had offseason legal troubles so it's not surprising that he would be released despite the team being inexperienced at wide receiver. Dontrelle Inman remains on track to start Week 1 opposite Terry McLaurin with Steven Sims in the slot.

Football Team | Cody Latimer placed on Commissioner's list    Mon Jul 27, 03:36 PM

Washington Football Team WR Cody Latimer was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt list Monday, July 27.

Footballguys view: Back in May, Latimer was charged with assault in the second degree, menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, prohibited use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment. The veteran receiver is no lock to make Washington's final roster if/when he's off the list.

Redskins | Cody Latimer deal now official    Tue Apr 7, 04:45 PM

Updating a previous story, free-agent WR Cody Latimer (Giants) officially signed an undisclosed contract with the Washington Redskins Tuesday, April 7.

Footballguys view: Latimer is big and fast, but his game has been inconsistent ever since the Broncos drafted him in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. Washington has Terry McLaurin as their top receiver and Latimer is going to be competing for that No.2 spot on the opposite side. Most likely, Latimer will wind up as a No.3 or No.4 receiver for Washington in 2020.

Redskins | Washington adding Cody Latimer    Wed Mar 25, 08:56 PM

Free-agent WR Cody Latimer (Giants) agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins Wednesday, March 25, according to sources. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Latimer has bounced around the league to a few teams now and has yet to play up to the potential he showed as a second-round pick (Broncos) out of Indiana in the 2014 NFL draft. He's got size and can make plays 'above the rim' but Latimer is going to be battling for a backup spot in Washington. The depth chart is wide open behind Terry McLaurin, so Latimer might work his way further up than some think.

Giants | NY Giants' Week 3 injury report    Fri Sep 20, 03:39 PM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer (concussion) was unable to practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 3 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. WR Bennie Fowler (hamstring) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday, Sept. 20, and is listed as questionable. CB Grant Haley (illness), OG Kevin Zeitler (shoulder), TE Garrett Dickerson (quad), WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) and WR Darius Slayton (hamstring) were able to fully participate in practice Friday and removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: The Giants are getting Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton back this week, but they are also giving their quarterback his first NFL start against a hot defense. It probably won't be a good day for the Giants passing game in Tampa.

Giants | Cody Latimer returning to Big Blue    Mon Mar 18, 12:25 AM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer announced on his official Instagram account on Sunday, March 17 that he is returning to the team on a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Latimer is an excellent gunner on special teams but he has done little as a receiver during stops with the Broncos and the Giants. A second-round pick out of Indiana in 2014, Latimer had a hamstring injury last season that limited him to just six games. He'll compete with Corey Coleman for snaps/targets in the WR corps behind starters Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard.

Giants | Cody Latimer back on roster    Wed Dec 19, 09:58 PM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer (hamstring) was officially activated from the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Footballguys view: Latimer's return is good news for the Giants WR corps. He's mostly a special teams player but Latimer could do more as a receiver, especially with both Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard a bit banged up. We're not expecting much from Latimer even if he does play and get some targets thrown his way. The status for Beckham in Week 16 is up in the air and many Giants fans just want him shut down for the season.

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer (hamstring) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Footballguys view: If Latimer can't play Sunday, the Giants will have to play Russell Shepard at wide receiver. They'll already be without Evan Engram, so Rhett Ellison could get a lot of targets as the starting tight end and a top four target in what should be a high-scoring game.

Giants | 'Not a doubt' Cody Latimer is No. 3 WR    Thu Aug 23, 06:26 PM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer will be the team's No. 3 wide receiver going into the season and there's 'not a doubt' in that declaration, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: There are so many mouths to feed here, we don't expect Latimer to make a splash. He's a big dude with a nice catch radius but he's behind fellow wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr and Sterling Shepard, as well as tight end Evan Engram and rookie running back Saquon Barkley. There's just too much in front of him which is why he's going undrafted in fantasy drafts, and rightfully so.

Giants | Cody Latimer takes part in drills    Wed Aug 1, 03:08 PM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer (quadriceps) was able to participate in individual drills at training camp Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Footballguys view: Latimer has physical potential but he never produced much as a receiver with the Broncos. Now with a new team, Latimer needs to stay healthy to showcase what he could do opposite Odell Beckham Jr. in the Giants offense.

Giants | Cody Latimer used as No. 3 receiver    Thu Jul 26, 05:42 PM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer worked as the No. 3 receiver during practice Thursday, July 26.

Footballguys view: The Giants have also been working Evan Engram at outside receiver at times, so the #3 receiver role in the Giants offense will be small. Latimer's main competition is Roger Lewis, but he should make the roster in any event because of his special teams value.

Giants | Cody Latimer to shine in bigger role?    Fri Jun 29, 11:14 PM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer never played more than 34 percent of the offensive snaps while with the Denver Broncos, and Lance Medow of Giants.com believes Latimer could produce if given an expanded role.

Footballguys view: Latimer has always flashed potential, mostly in training camp with the Broncos, but he's failed on the field for the most part during games that count. He didn't mesh well with QB Peyton Manning and couldn't produce for the Broncos after Manning retired. Latimer is strong, fast and physical...plus he's capable of making crazy catches in the air or near the sideline. He has yet to produce at the expected level, but call us crazy...we'll still monitor his progress with the Giants in deep dynasty leagues.

Giants | Cody Latimer pushing to start    Sat Jun 9, 11:50 PM

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer could emerge as the No. 3 receiver and the kick returner this year, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

Footballguys view: Latimer has always been a 'what if' player in the NFL. A second-round pick out of Indiana in 2014, Latimer failed to build strong chemistry with QB Peyton Manning early in his days with the Broncos. Injuries plagued his game along with inconsistency even after Manning retired. With a fresh start in 2018, Latimer is out to prove he can play up to the potential he displayed for the Hoosiers in college. We'll see if he can connect with Eli Manning to win the no.3 job for the Giants behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard.

Giants | Roger Lewis the No. 3 receiver?    Thu May 17, 10:37 PM

New York Giants WR Roger Lewis could emerge as the No. 3 receiver this year ahead of WR Cody Latimer, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Footballguys view: That would probably put him fourth in the pecking order at least behind Odell Beckham jr., Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram, as well as potentially rookie Saquon Barkley.

Giants | Cody Latimer signs with Giants    Mon Mar 19, 02:54 PM

Free-agent WR Cody Latimer (Broncos) signed with the New York Giants Monday, March 19. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: A second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Latimer never produced much as a receiver with the Broncos. He did become a great special teams player in Denver, and that's at least what he'll be for the Giants. Latimer is big, strong and a fine run blocker. He can make crazy catches in practice but has never been able to transition practice success over to the playing field.

Broncos | Cody Latimer ruled out    Sat Dec 23, 05:20 PM

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer (thigh) did not travel with the team for their Week 16 game and has been ruled out.

Footballguys view: Latimer missed time earlier this year with a slight knee injury. It's unfortunate for the young WR as he was coming on a bit with Brock Osweiler at quarterback. Latimer is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2018, but there is buzz about the Broncos locking him up before he hits the open market.
