NFL | Terrance Knighton retiring    Wed Apr 12, 07:28 PM

Free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Patriots) has decided to retire from professional football.

Footballguys view: Affectionately known as "Potroast" we'll see Knighton finish his pro career after spending 2016 out of football. A big-bodied run stuffer (to say the least), Knighton is going to pursue a career in coaching.

Patriots | Terrance Knighton cut by Pats    Mon Aug 29, 08:47 AM

New England Patriots DT Terrance Knighton was released by the team Monday, Aug. 29.

Footballguys view: The big veteran did not play in the Patriots third preseason game, so the writing was on the wall. Some team in need of a big-bodied run-stuffer could be interested in Knighton.

Patriots | Terrance Knighton unsure about future    Sat Aug 27, 08:11 AM

New England Patriots DT Terrance Knighton said he is concerned about his future with the team after he did not receive any playing time during the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Friday, Aug. 26.

Footballguys view: That's not a good sign for 'Potroast' and his future with the Patriots. He's a seasoned pro, but he's bounced around since the Broncos decided to let him go. The Patriots may not want Knighton to get hurt before they release him...if that's what they want to do.

Patriots | Two players officially sign    Mon Apr 4, 05:52 PM

New England Patriots DT Terrance Knighton and TE Clay Harbor officially signed with the Patriots Monday, April 4.

Footballguys view: Knighton is going to plug up the middle and play as a poor man's version of Vince Wilfork. Harbor is a reserve TE who has always teased with upside but never played up to his potential.

Footballguys view: A great add for the Patriots if this actually comes to fruition. They needed some weight up front and Knighton will help solidify the middle of the defense.

Free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Redskins) is leaning towards signing with the New England Patriots, according to a source. Knighton has visited the Patriots and the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: Knighton is an immovable object who would play a role on early downs in the Patriots defense.

Redskins | Terrance Knighton visiting    Tue Mar 29, 04:24 PM

Free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Redskins) is visiting the Washington Redskins Tuesday, March 29, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Knighton didn't get a contract with the Patriots done, so he's looking to see if Washington wants to bring him back. The big man can naturally stuff the middle, and he'll surprisingly get some interior pressure on the QB from time to time.

Redskins | Want Terrance Knighton back    Mon Mar 28, 04:55 PM

The Washington Redskins would like to re-sign DT Terrance Knighton, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Redskins) will visit the New England Patriots Monday, March 28.

Footballguys view: Knighton has always reminded us of former Pats NT Vince Wilfork. The move to add "PotRoast" would make a lot of sense. He can play as a rotational player up front and help stuff the run.

Redskins | Terrance Knighton agrees to deal    Thu Mar 12, 07:16 PM

Updating previous reports, free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Broncos) agreed to a one-year deal worth $4 million Thursday, March 12.

Footballguys view: We'll see Knighton man the middle for Washington. He's a mountain of a man who is tough to move. Knighton is a good run-defender, but he's also able to get some interior push on opposing quarterbacks. His market price was much lower than most (likely including him) expected.

Redskins | Terrance Knighton has good visit    Thu Mar 12, 03:56 PM

Free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Broncos) had a good visit with the Washington Redskins Wednesday, March 11, but he continues to mull his options. The Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers all have some interest in him, as well.

Footballguys view: Good enough to sign? We'll see soon. He could help the Washington defensive line, but price will be important.

Packers | Interested in Terrance Knighton?    Tue Mar 10, 09:58 PM

Free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Broncos) has been the subject of "a few discussions" for the Green Bay Packers management, according to a source. However, nothing appears imminent.

Footballguys view: Leave it to Ted Thompson. Knighton has had several teams interested in his services, but he must have priced himself a bit out of the market as nobody has committed. The Packers have waited patiently for the right time to strike. They are coming to the party late, but they might be the team that lands Knighton.

Raiders | Unlikely to land Terrance Knighton    Tue Mar 10, 04:43 PM

Free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Broncos) is highly unlikely to sign with the Oakland Raiders. However, there remains plenty of interest in Knighton on the open market, but the Denver Broncos aren't involved in talks to re-sign him.

Footballguys view: Things change pretty quickly around here. The Raiders were frontrunners earlier in the day, and now they're going to move in a different direction. We'll see if the Colts lead the charge for Knighton now.

Bears | To make push for Terrance Knighton?    Mon Mar 9, 01:34 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton is expected to be pursued heavily by the Chicago Bears. ESPN's Josina Anderson reported that the Bears have 'serious interest' in Knighton to be the anchor of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's 3-4 front.

Footballguys view: Knighton played the last two years for new Bears head coach John Fox in Denver. Knighton is regarded as one of the better run stoppers in the league.

Dolphins | Terrance Knighton might be too costly    Sun Mar 1, 08:05 PM

The Miami Dolphins are interested in impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Broncos), but he might be far more costly than some of their other targets and it is unclear if they can compete financially for him.

Footballguys view: Knighton has stated several times that he wants to stay in Denver. The Broncos would like to keep him around, but Knighton might be out of their price range.

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton is unlikely to be back with the team in 2015, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. Klis believes the only chance Denver has of re-signing Knighton is if the market for his services is unexpectedly weak.

Broncos | Several players not expected to return    Mon Feb 23, 06:15 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton, OG Orlando Franklin and FS Rahim Moore are not expected to return to the team next season.

Footballguys view: Knighton could move on to the Oakland Raiders where he'd be reunited with Jack Del Rio for a third time in his career. Franklin probably will get some looks at tackle again, and Moore might be a bit too pricey for the Broncos to keep around.

Broncos | Terrance Knighton wants to stay in Denver    Thu Feb 19, 12:00 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton has made it clear that he wants to stay in Denver even though he's scheduled to hit the open market in March. He said he'd even be willing to take 'somewhat of a hometown discount,' but Knighton doesn't feel that the interest in mutual on the Broncos' part at this point. Head coach Gary Kubiak said the Broncos hope to retain as many of their free agents as possible, including Knighton.

Footballguys view: It's hard to imagine the Broncos without "Pot Roast" in a Broncos jersey, but they have some potentially expensive free agents - the most noteworthy of which are Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas -- which might suck in a lot of the available cash if the Broncos wish to hold onto them. Losing Knighton would leave Denver with just Marvin Austin at nose tackle and that could be a significant downgrade.

Broncos | Terrance Knighton frustrated by Denver    Wed Feb 18, 10:04 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton said Wednesday, Feb. 18, that he is frustration with the lack of communication from the Broncos.

Footballguys view: Knighton is frustrated for good reason. He's stated multiple times that he wants to stay in Denver, but the Broncos have had zero communication with him. Knighton is likely to get a big deal in free agency, and we think the Raiders are most likely to pick him up.

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton will likely receive offers that Denver will be 'hard-pressed' to match if Knighton reaches the open market next month, according to Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post.

Footballguys view: We believe Knighton could follow former Broncos defensive coordinator (and current Raiders head coach) Jack Del Rio to Oakland. Knighton is in line to get a contract that pays him around $6-8 million annually.

Raiders | Expected to show interest in Terrance Knighton    Sun Feb 15, 02:08 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton is expected to receive interest from the Oakland Raiders if he hits the free-agent market.

Footballguys view: Knighton worked well under Jack Del Rio (new Raiders head coach, former Broncos defensive coordinator) over the last two seasons. This comes as no surprise because Knighton was drafted by the Jaguars when Del Rio was the head coach in Jacksonville. Behind Ndamukong Suh, Knighton is arguably the best defensive tackle on the open market.

Broncos | No talks with Terrance Knighton     Sun Feb 15, 02:06 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton has not had any contract talks with the Broncos at this point.

Footballguys view: The Broncos have a need at the nose tackle position as they've switched to a 3-4 defense for this season under new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Knighton has said he would take less money in order to remain with the Broncos.

Broncos | Terrance Knighton confident    Tue Jun 17, 02:06 PM

Denver Broncos DT Terrance Knighton is extremely confident heading into his second season with the team. 'I think the game has slowed down so much for me,' he said. 'Right now, I think I'm in the prime of my career. I honestly don't feel like there's a center that can block me. I'll just keep working at it. I've watched film from last year, and I've watched future opponents. Right now, I'm just trying to go out there and dominate and continue where I left off.'
