Cardinals | Rob Housler likely to be used frequently Wed Jun 19, 09:54 PM
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians likes the pass-catching ability of TE Rob Housler, and his time on the field is likely to be dictated on how much his pass-blocking has improved.
Footballguys view: Housler is an athletic move TE who creates mismatches when he's on the field. With the way that Carson Palmer peppered Brandon Myers with the Raiders last season it could inflate Housler's numbers this year. TEs Jeff King, Jim Dray and D.C. Jefferson are behind him on the depth chart. |

The Arizona Cardinals placed TE Jeff King (quadriceps) on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list to start training camp Tuesday, July 24, due to a quadriceps injury.
Footballguys view: While King will miss time in training camp it opens the door for Rob Housler to get more reps. We like Housler as a developmental prospect at the TE position because of his speed and ability to stretch the deep middle seam of the defense. |

However, he is expected back in the coming weeks. 'The prognosis on him is that he's going to be back at some point during training camp,' tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens said. Cardinals | Kevin Kolb relies on tight ends Tue Sep 13, 01:25 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb said he doesn't mind relying on tight ends if teams try to take WR Larry Fitzgerald out of the equation. Kolb is confident in the team's tight ends, which include TEs Todd Heap, Jeff King, Jim Dray and Rob Housler. 'I've always relied on my tight ends a lot, and when I came here and got with these guys, man, there's a lot of talent there,' Kolb said. 'We're going to continue to use them. They obviously have the playmaking ability, so we'll look forward to putting the ball in their hands a lot more.'
Footballguys view: It will be interesting to see if this trend continues for the Cardinals. At this time we only want Larry Fitzgerald on our fantasy roster. A three headed TEBC isn't that enticing with so many (better) TE options available on the waiver wire. |

Cardinals | Jeff King hurts his old team Sun Sep 11, 10:08 PM

Cardinals | Two tight ends could see a lot of playing time Fri Aug 19, 01:28 AM
Arizona Cardinals TEs Todd Heap and Jeff King are both expected to play quite a bit this year. Sometimes, the team may even open with two tight ends in the starting lineup. With King being the better blocker, he might get some starting nods ahead of Heap, who is known more as a pass receiver.
Footballguys view: King is the team's best blocking TE and his fantasy value is quite low. However, Heap is a quality receiving TE and should quickly become a trusted target of new QB Kevin Kolb. During his time with the Eagles Kolb liked to target the TE early and often. Heap makes a good option if you want to use a TEBC in your fantasy league. |

Cardinals | Deep at tight end Sun Jul 31, 02:53 PM
The addition of TE Todd Heap to the Arizona Cardinals gives the team one of the deepest groups of tight ends the team has had. Heap isn't known to be a great blocker, but that role will fall to newly added TE Jeff King. The team also has TEs Jim Dray, Stephen Spach and third-round draft select Rob Housler on roster. Heap, nicknamed 'The Golden Retriever,' is healthy and spent the offseason working out in Tempe with several Cardinals, including WR Larry Fitzgerald.
Footballguys view: Heap could become the #2 option in the passing game behind Fitzgerald. QB Kevin Kolb favored Brent Celek in the Philly passing game at times, so Heap is a good backup TE for deep leagues or waiver wire name to keep in mind if plan A doesn't work out at TE. |

Panthers | Jeff King, Dante Rosario not priorities Sun Jul 17, 02:02 AM
Carolina Panthers TEs Jeff King and Dante Rosario, both unrestricted free agents, are not expected to return. According to a source, re-signing them is not a priority with TEs Jeremy Shockey and Gary Barnidge under contract through 2011.
Footballguys view: With King and Rosario moving on we could see one or both end up with the Denver Broncos. New head coach John Fox needs better depth at the TE position and could look to his former Panthers for help. |

Broncos | Could add veteran TE in free agency Sat Jul 9, 08:24 PM
Cecil Lammey, NFL Insider for FRSN and senior writer for Footballguys.com, reports via Twitter that the Broncos may bring in a veteran TE in free agency. Possible additions for the team include Dante Rosario, Jeff King, and Bo Scaife.
Footballguys view: Rosario and King make sense because they played under new Broncos head coach John Fox in Carolina. Scaife was a Parade All American high school player in Colorado, and could move back home to continue his pro career. |

Panthers | Barnridge overthrows King as the starting TE? Thu Aug 20, 10:38 AM
David Scott, from the Charlotte Observer, reports TE Gary Barnridge appears to have wrested the starting job from Jeff King. Barnidge, in his second season, gives the Panthers a down-field threat and has excellent hands. He needs to keep working on his blocking skills.
Footballguys view: There is a chance for surprise production coming from the TE position in Carolina, if WR Dwayne Jarrett doesn't develop as a receiving threat in his third year. Coming out of Louisville, Barnridge was known as a player that runs sharp routes, and can make tough catches with a defender on his back. He knows how to sit down in a zone, and could become a reliable target for QB Jake Delhomme. If he does win the starting job for the regular season, fantasy owners could look at him as a bye-week replacement TE with upside. |
