The Minnesota Vikings waived RB Caleb King Tuesday, May 1.
| Footballguys view: King was a Supplemental Draft pick last year for the Vikings and showed up to camp out of shape. He recently got in trouble with the law for allegedly fracturing a man's skull after a recent party. King was released from custody without charges. |

Minnesota Vikings RB Caleb King was arrested Saturday, April 28, on suspicion of assaulting another man. King allegedly assaulted a man and caused skull and facial fractures as well as cuts that needed 50 stitches.

It is unclear whether the Minnesota Vikings will dress only two halfbacks, RBs Toby Gerhart and Lorenzo Booker, for the Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears. They might promote RB Caleb King from the practice squad. 'You never know when it's your time,' King said Friday, Dec. 30. 'Luckily, I did follow (the veterans). I know the playbook, so if they throw me in, I'm going to be ready.' RB Jordan Todman was signed this week off the practice squad of the San Diego Chargers, but it's unlikely he'll be up to speed with the team's playbook to contribute.
| Footballguys view: King was with the team during training camp and should have a better grasp on the playbook than Todman. Even if he is active we're not expecting him to get many touches on Sunday. |

| Footballguys view: King declared for the supplemental draft but went undrafted. The Vikings added him after that but decided to put him on the practice squad after training camp. We're not expecting much from him if he does play in week 17. |

| Footballguys view: King entered the Supplemental Draft but was not selected. The Vikings picked him up as a free agent and he showed them enough to stick around on the PS. King is a swift runner who doesn't shy away from contact. However, he runs a bit upright and has never played up to his physical potential. |

| Footballguys view: King never lived up to the hype when he was at Georgia after being a highly touted high school recruit. He can get to top speed in a hurry and is not afraid to run between the tackles. King is also a decent receiving option out of the backfield. However, he runs too upright and is not a quick twitch athlete. |

| Footballguys view: King is a north-south runner with good size and balance. He never played up to his potential at Georgia despite multiple chances. King has decent lateral agility, but is a back that doesn't have one elite quality. Good-but-not-great makes you okay in college, but it makes you a dime a dozen in the NFL. |

Former University of Georgia RB Caleb King said Tuesday, July 12, that he is entering the NFL's supplemental draft. King would have been a senior, but he was declared academically ineligible for the 2011 season Friday, July 8.
| Footballguys view: We don't expect any team to give up more than seventh-rounder for the Georgia runner. He failed to live up to expectations in college and some felt he lacked proper work ethic. King was never able to climb past #2 on the depth chart during his time at Georgia but some may see him as a camp body who can catch passes out of the backfield. |
