Saints | Jacquizz Rodgers signs with Saints Sat Aug 3, 01:13 PM
Free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers (Buccaneers) signed with the New Orleans Saints Saturday, Aug. 3. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived RB Rob Kelley.
Footballguys view: Kelley lasted about a week with the Saints. Rodgers is there to give the team veteran depth at the position if he makes the 53-man roster. He can add value to the roster because of his ability as a receiver out of the backfield. |

Saints | Rob Kelley signs with Saints Tue Jul 30, 11:23 AM
Free-agent RB Rob Kelley (Redskins) signed an undisclosed deal with the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, July 30.
Footballguys view: The Saints seemed unsettled about their running back depth with multiple workouts of free agents recently. Kelley played his college ball at Tulane and returns to the Big Easy, but he's a longshot to make the final roster. |

Saints | New Orleans tries out three running backs Thu May 23, 03:10 PM
Free-agent RBs Fozzy Whittaker, Rob Kelley and Javorius Allen worked out for the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, May 23.

Redskins | Rob Kelley goes to IR Tue Sep 18, 05:51 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (toe) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Redskins | Samaje Perine expected to be third back Mon Sep 17, 10:45 PM
Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine is expected to be the third active running back on game day while RB Rob Kelley (toe) is sidelined.

Redskins | Rob Kelley slimmed down Thu Aug 2, 10:47 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley said he is playing faster now that his weight is down to 221 pounds this season.
Footballguys view: Kelley is battling Samaje Perine to be the #2 back behind Derrius Guice in the early down offense. If he is faster, he'll likely win the competition, and maybe even make Perine a surprise cut. |

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (illness) left practice early Friday, July 27, because of heat-related symptoms. He is considered day-to-day at this time.
Footballguys view: Kelley is trying to stay above Samaje Perine on the depth chart and maybe even give Washington ideas about releasing Perine, but for now that roster battle is on hold. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley working with first-team offense Wed Jun 27, 08:07 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley has been the first running back to go through individual drills with running backs coach Randy Jordan during the first two weeks of organized team activities. He's also taken a majority of the reps at running back with the first-team offense.
Footballguys view: That's an interesting note for a player perceived to be on the roster bubble. Washington added Derrius Guice out of LSU in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft, and he seems poised to take over as the featured back. Add in change-of-pace back Chris Thompson and two-down banger Samaje Perine and you see Kelley at fourth on the depth chart at best. We'll see this shake out in training camp and the preseason, but expect Guice to emerge. Guice is going off the board at RB19 (4.01) in 12-team PPR leagues at this time. |

Redskins | Kapri Bibbs on the bubble Thu Jun 21, 10:28 PM
Washington Redskins RB Kapri Bibbs will have a 'very hard' time beating out RB Rob Kelley for the final running back spot on the 53-man roster, in the opinion of Rich Tandler of NBCSportsWashington.com.
Footballguys view: Bibbs showed some solid receiving skills late last year and could be one of the first running backs signed to fill a roster spot opened up by an injury if Washington releases him at the end of the preseason. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley officially placed on IR Tue Nov 14, 05:21 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Footballguys view: Kelley's entire 2017 season seemed to be set back by injury. Without him in the lineup, we'll see rookie Samaje Perine take on a larger role as a battering ram between the tackles. No Kelley means we could see Chris Thompson used more as well. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley could go to IR Mon Nov 13, 03:23 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) might be placed on the Reserve/Injured list after suffering a high-ankle sprain and a medial collateral ligament sprain in Week 10. Kelley will at least miss multiple games.
Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to grab rookie RB Samaje Perine off the waiver wire. The big-bodied rookie will serve as the lead back for Washington while Kelley is out. We'll also see plenty of Chris Thompson as per usual. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley facing lengthy absence Mon Nov 13, 12:42 PM
Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) suffered a high ankle sprain and a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee in Week 10.
Footballguys view: The high-ankle sprain alone could force Kelley out for a month. Add in the MCL sprain, and Kelley could miss several weeks. The team will turn to Samaje Perine while Kelley is out, and we could see a few more snaps/carries/targets for explosive change-of-pace back Chris Thompson. |

Redskins | Samaje Perine is best of the lot Sun Nov 12, 09:12 PM
Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine rushed nine times for a team-high 35 yards in the Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings. RB Chris Thompson ran nine times for 26 yards, and RB Rob Kelley had just 10 yards on four totes.
Footballguys view: There's not much going on in the backfield here, and it's getting split up. We were hoping for more consistency and production now that the line is healthy, but the split is killing what little value each back has. At least Thompson catches the ball a lot and added three catches for 41 yards to his overall total. Perine had a 25 yard catch but only one target while Kelley caught both his targets but for a paltry 4 yards. |

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 3, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.
Footballguys view: On the road against the Seahawks in Week 9, it could be tough sledding for Kelley and the Washington rushing attack. We like him more as a RB3 or flex option since he's a little banged up and facing a swarming defense. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley limited Thu Nov 2, 05:06 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.
Footballguys view: We don't love Kelley this week, and have him rated as a RB4. You can get away with him in a pinch but his upside isn't great. Chris Thompson looks like a better bet, mostly because of his prowess catching passes out of the backfield. We don't expect either back to have much luck on the ground though. |

Redskins | Washington injury report for Friday Fri Oct 27, 04:31 PM
Washington Redskins LB Mason Foster (shoulder), C Spencer Long (knee), OT Ty Nsekhe (core muscle), OG Brandon Scherff (knee, back) and OT Trent Williams (knee) did not practice Friday, Oct. 27. Foster, Long and Nsekhe are out for Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, while Scherff and Williams are listed as questionable. OG Tyler Catalina (concussion), S Deshazor Everett (hamstring), S Stefan McClure (knee, hamstring), CB Fabian Moreau (hamstring), OT Morgan Moses (ankle), CB Josh Norman (ribs) and LB Preston Smith (groin) were each limited in practice. All players are considered questionable, too, as is CB Bashaud Breeland (knee) who practiced in full. Also practicing in full was LB Zach Brown (back), RB Rob Kelley (ankle), S Montae Nicholson (shoulder) and RB Chris Thompson (toe). They were each removed from the injury report.
Footballguys view: Scherff and Williams are two cornerstones of the Washington offensive line and they could be at least limited in effectiveness if not out or playing only a partial game. With Long out that means the line could be with two quality starters against Dallas, and one of those two, Moses, is also questionable after a limited practice. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley takes part in practice Thu Oct 26, 06:17 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 26.
Footballguys view: Kelley is the starter again and faces a better matchup this week against Dallas than he had when he struggled against the Eagles last week. The offensive line issues are still there though, and Chris Thompson gets enough action to be a little less hyped up about Kelley. The back should still be a solid play this weekend, but those two factors hold his production back in our minds, and make him more of a RB3 with some upside. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley listed as questionable Sat Oct 21, 02:41 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ribs) was limited during practice Saturday, Oct. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.
Footballguys view: Kelley should be back in action this week. That will take away most of the opportunity for Samaje Perine. As Kelley has missed time, the rookie Perine has been getting a healthy dose of carries...and doing next to nothing with those touches. Chris Thompson will continue as the most dangerous Washington back...and the most fantasy relevant - especially in PPR leagues. |

Redskins | Rob Kelley fine with committee Fri Oct 20, 09:30 PM
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley said it 'wouldn't be beneficial' for him to receive all the carries, especially with RB Chris Thompson playing so well. 'Whatever Coach needs, I'm there for,' Kelley said. 'If he wants me to run it the whole time, I can run it the whole time. If he wants to split carries, I can do that, too.'
Footballguys view: Kelley is a solid starter when healthy, but Thompson has a big-play ability that none of the other RBs on the roster have. It only makes sense to feature Thompson as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. Kelley needs to stay healthy, so splitting time could help him stay fresh as the season wears on. |

Footballguys view: He suffered an ankle injury in the Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, Oct. 2. Kelley has struggled with the injury bug in 2017, but he's got some time to heal and be the lead back this team needs. Rookie Samaje Perine has power as a runner, but he's struggled to impress while Kelley has been out/limited.
