Free-agent QB Josh Johnson (Redskins) and RB Justin Stockton (Lions) signed with the Detroit Lions Saturday, Aug. 10. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also placed WR Jermaine Kearse (leg) and DT Darius Kilgo (undisclosed) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Free-agent WR Jermaine Kearse (Jets) agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions Thursday, June 6, according to a source. Kearse received a one-year, $1.35 million deal with $350,000 guaranteed. The deal has a maximum value of $2.3 million.

Footballguys view: The Lions get a solid veteran who part of their new staff knows well. Kearse spent five seasons with new Lions OC Darrell Bevell during their time in Seattle. He gives the team better depth behind Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola.

Free-agent WR Jermaine Kearse (Jets) worked out for the Detroit Lions this week, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.

Footballguys view: The Lions could be updating their emergency list here. Kearse had a down 2018 season with the Jets and has not had that much interest on the open market. He does have previous experience playing under Lions OC Darrell Bevell from their days working together in Seattle.

Free-agent WR Jermaine Kearse (Jets) said in a radio interview Wednesday, March 20 that he is interested in a return to the Seattle Seahawks. 'I have not personally talked to (General Manager John Schneider) or (head coach Pete Carroll),' he said, while adding he is pretty sure his agent talked to Carroll. 'Look, I would love to play back in Seattle. Obviously, thing would have to work out.'

Footballguys view: Kearse was originally expected to be out this week, but he has a small chance to play. If he's out Quincy Enunwa becomes a better play and Terrelle Pryor will get a better chance to acquit himself after he came into camp still hurting from a second ankle injury.

Footballguys view: Kearse was already feeling like the odd man out in the Jets lackluster passing offense, and so we weren't very excited by him to begin with. Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa will see the most work, but a rookie quarterback and a solid Detroit defense have our expectations pretty low. We would avoid the Jets this week, and certainly for the near future until this offense shows us something.

Updating previous reports, New York Jets WR Jermaine Kearse (abdomen) is feared to be out for Week 1 after a medical procedure on his abdominal injury.

Footballguys view: Terrelle Pryor is getting healthy and now will get some snaps in Week 1 against the Lions. Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson will be the primary receivers, with Darius Slay locking down one side of the field, but the other a soft spot for Sam Darnold to rely on when it's time to complete a key third down pass.
