Cardinals | Arizona set to talk with Mike Kafka Mon Jan 30, 03:17 PM
New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is scheduled to interview with the Arizona Cardinals regarding their head coaching vacancy Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Footballguys view: Kafka has been praised a lot by football media for the improvement in the Giants offense and losing him would be a blow to a team that is generating momentum. He is originally from the Andy Reid coaching tree, spending all of his NFL coaching career with the Chiefs, and originally being drafted by Reid back in 2010. |

Texans | Mike Kafka gets second interview with Houston Tue Jan 24, 01:06 PM
New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka interviewed for a second time with the Houston Texans for their head coaching vacancy Tuesday, Jan. 24, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Kafka is a noted quarterback guru, not only because he played in the league at the position but also because of his relationship with Patrick Mahomes (who he used to coach with the Chiefs). He worked great with Mahomes, and then Kafka worked wonders with Giants QB Daniel Jones in 2022. It's no wonder teams are interested in him being a head coach, and Houston may be at the top of the list. |

Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Mike Kafka is expected to be named as the new offensive coordinator for the New York Giants in the near future, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: Mike Kafka has worked closely with QB Patrick Mahomes as he's ascended to superstar status in the NFL. Mahomes speaks highly of Kafka, and now it looks like we'll see if he can get the most out of QB Daniel Jones. With Kafka's experience working with Mahomes, and new Giants HC Brian Daboll's experience working with QB Josh Allen, it is most certainly a make-or-break year for Jones in 2022. |

Additionally, Jay Valai and David Girardi were hired as quality control coaches. Special projects coach Tommy Brasher will retire, while linebackers coach Gary Gibbs will not return.

Vikings | Mike Kafka cut Tue Sep 1, 10:22 AM
Minnesota Vikings QB Mike Kafka (undisclosed) was waived-injured Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Footballguys view: We knew this was coming, as the team seems to like undrafted rookie Taylor Heinicke and Shaun Hill is a proven veteran to take over if Teddy Bridgewater gets hurt. We see Bridgewater as a decent QB2 this season, with some upside, but that doesn't mean Hill, Heinicke or someone else stepping in would immediately put up those same numbers. |

Jaguars | Mike Kafka will be second QB in game Thu Aug 22, 02:17 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said QB Mike Kafka will be the second quarterback in during the team's third preseason game. Kafka is competing with QB Matt Scott for the No. 3 quarterback job.
Footballguys view: Scott is the ultra-athletic rookie from Arizona who has a rocket arm. He's an incredible runner and can toy with defenders in the open field. Scott has a strong throwing arm but his footwork and arm mechanics need work. This should help to greatly improve his poor accuracy. Scott is an interesting prospect to monitor in super deep dynasty leagues and could be bound for the practice squad if he doesn't make the active roster. |

Jaguars | Mike Kafka appears to be favorite for No. 3 QB job Sat Aug 10, 11:13 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Mike Kafka was the third quarterback to enter the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 9, and appears to have an edge over Matt Scott for the No. 3 quarterback job.
Footballguys view: Blaine Gabbert didn't look very good against the Miami Dolphins and while Chad Henne looked better, that's not exactly calling him Mark Brunell. Given Gabbert's struggles and injury history and Henne's track record, the No. 3 quarterback spot in Jacksonville might have some value down the road. |

Jaguars | Expected to keep three QBs Sun Jul 21, 11:15 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to keep three quarterbacks on their final roster this season after keeping only two quarterbacks last season. QBs Mike Kafka and Matt Scott are expected to compete for the No. 3 quarterback job.
Footballguys view: Scott has high fantasy upside as a running quarterback, but he'll have to beat out a quarterback in Kafka who has been around the league for a few years. If Scott can win the #3 job, or even make the team's practice squad, keep tabs on his development. |

Jaguars | Mike Kafka could compete for QB job Wed Jun 26, 02:31 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QBs Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne are expected to compete for the starting quarterback job during training camp, but QB Mike Kafka could enter the competition during camp.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars took advantage of their high waiver priority to snag Kafka when the Patriots let him go to sign Tim Tebow. Any Cecil Shorts or Justin Blackmon owners should be rooting for Henne to win this job, as they were top 10 wide receivers on a PPR basis while Henne was starting last year. |

Jaguars | GM fine with taking five QBs to camp Sat Jun 15, 12:44 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said he has no problem with taking five quarterbacks at training camp. QBs Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Mike Kafka, Jordan Rodgers and Matt Scott are currently on the roster.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars have a poor collection of QBs and more competition is nothing but a good thing. Gabbert and Henne are the most likely to start this season. Scott is an interesting UDFA to consider in super deep dynasty leagues. He's incredibly athletic and has a strong arm. However, he struggles with decision making and his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. |

Jaguars | Mike Kafka has chance to win QB job Thu Jun 13, 06:40 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said Mike Kafka has 'just as good an opportunity' to win the starting QB jon as Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne or undrafted rookie Matt Scott. Caldwell had considered signing Kafka earlier in the offseason. The New England Patriots signed him but cut Kafka when they signed Tim Tebow.
Footballguys view: That tells you a lot about the state of the QBs in Jacksonville. Gabbert is in a make or break year yet all we're hearing is about how bad he looks at OTAs. We'll see how this QB competition plays out in training camp. We won't be surprised to see Chad Henne open the year as the starter for the Jaguars. |

Jaguars | Claim Mike Kafka Tue Jun 11, 04:23 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed QB Mike Kafka (Patriots) off waivers Tuesday, June 11.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars love former Patriots players. They added DL Kyle Love and Brandon Deaderick earlier this year after they were let go by the Patriots. Kafka may not even crack the 53-man roster. He'll compete with UDFAs Matt Scott (Arizona) and Jordan Rodgers (Vanderbilt) to be the QB3 behind Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. |

Reports have linked the Green Bay Packers and free-agent QB Mike Kafka (Eagles), although if Kafka is added he is not expected to supplant QB Graham Harrell as the primary backup to QB Aaron Rodgers.
Footballguys view: The Packers have one of the worst backup QB situations in the league. Yes, Harrell looked okay in the team's fourth preseason game but we're not confident he would carry that over if pressed into regular season action. Green Bay will continue to look for a better backup behind Aaron Rodgers. |
