| Footballguys view: A third-round pick (Washington) in the 2015 NFL draft, Jones was a banger at Florida and that's what he was in the pros. The last time he was in the NFL was when he was trying to make the Eagles 53-man roster in the 2018 preseason. We'll see if some team wants to pick up the big-bodied veteran back. |

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Matt Jones' contract is for two years. Financial terms were not disclosed. WR Dom Williams was waived in a corresponding move.
| Footballguys view: A third-round pick for Washington in 2015, Jones was with the Colts in 2017 and had only five carries for 14 rushing yards on the season. The Eagles have a crowded backfield, and Jones is certainly no lock to make the 53-man roster. He's competing behind guys like Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, DJ Pumphrey and Darren Sproles. |

Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones may continue to be a healthy scratch as the team prefers a back that can perform on special teams, which Jones has not done. 'We're not giving up on Matt,' head coach Jay Gruden said. 'But when you can only dress three running backs, the third one we would like to have some impact on special teams. That's not always going to be the case. Sometimes we may not need our third running back to be on special teams, we can get Matt up.'
