Giants | Daniel Jones on track for opener    Sun Feb 11, 02:50 PM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 regular season, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Footballguys view: Good news for Jones, but the Giants may add a quarterback to compete with him for the starting job. Reports have surfaced indicating the Giants may add a veteran in free agency to push Jones. There are also rumblings they could instead try to get another quarterback for the roster in the 2024 NFL draft.

Giants | Daniel Jones may be ready for camp    Sat Feb 3, 10:06 AM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (knee) is making good progress in his recovery and hopefully will be available for the start of training camp, according to general manager Joe Schoen.

Footballguys view: That could happen, but we need to get further into the offseason before having too much optimism. He went down in Week 9, and there was no further damage to his knee when Jones went in for ACL surgery. Giants GM Joe Schoen said Jones is expected to be the team's starting quarterback once healthy. We'll see him limited in OTAs and minicamp, but the plan should be to ramp things up in training camp.

Giants | Daniel Jones the guy    Mon Nov 27, 11:01 AM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (knee) will be the team's starting quarterback when he is healthy, according to general manager Joe Schoen.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Jones reached a four-year, $160 million extension with the Giants in March. He's got a cap number of $47.1 million in 2024, and there is still a whopping $69.3 million left in dead money. There is an out in his contract after the 2024 season, so the Giants may look at drafting a quarterback to be developed behind Jones. With his knee surgery and the 10-month recovery, Jones should be ready for action at some time in training camp.

Giants | Daniel Jones has surgery    Wed Nov 22, 12:42 PM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (knee) underwent successful surgery Wednesday, Nov. 22, to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Footballguys view: Now, the road to recovery begins for the Giants quarterback. It usually takes a year for this injury to be fully healed, so even by the start of the 2024 season, Jones may not be ready for action. We'll know more about his status next year in training camp.

Giants | Daniel Jones' fate confirmed    Mon Nov 6, 11:43 AM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (knee) had an MRI confirm a torn anterior cruciate ligament Monday, Nov. 6, and he'll miss the rest of the season.

Footballguys view: Just terrible news for the Giants as Jones just came back from his neck injury this week only to be lost for the season with a knee injury. Signed to a four-year, $160 million extension this offseason, Jones now won't be back in action until 2024 training camp at the earliest. The Giants move forward with QB Tommy DeVito as their starter with veteran QB Matt Barkley also on the roster.

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (knee) left the Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders due to an apparent knee injury. He left for the blue medical tent, before emerging and walking slowly to the locker room. He was replaced by QB Tommy Devito.

Giants | Daniel Jones out for Week 8    Fri Oct 27, 11:29 AM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (neck) will not play against the New York Jets in Week 8, according to sources Friday. Oct. 27.

Footballguys view: Tyrod Taylor will start again vs. the Jets, but the matchup is tough enough that he's not a preferred QB2/Superflex option despite the strong result last week against the Commanders. It's not clear when Jones will return to the lineup as he hasn't been cleared for contact yet.

New York Giants OT Matt Peart (shoulder), C John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) and OT Andrew Thomas (hamstring) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 7 versus the Washington Commanders. OT Evan Neal (ankle) did not practice on Friday, Oct. 20, and is listed as questionable. CB Adoree' Jackson (neck) and QB Daniel Jones (neck) were limited in practice all week and are also listed as questionable. RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) and PK Graham Gano (knee) were also limited in practice all week but no longer appear on the injury report. Davidson (knee) and CB Tre Hawkins III (knee) practiced in full on Friday and have also been removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: Tyrod Taylor will almost certainly start with Jones not yet cleared for contact. The offense might actually function better (for now) with Taylor, and the matchup is good against Washington, so consider starting Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton in deeper leagues, and Taylor in 2QB/Superflex.

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (neck) has been cleared to practice but not for contact, head coach Brian Daboll said on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Footballguys view: There is no quarterback competition with the Giants even though Jones has struggled this year and Tyrod Taylor looked good last week against the Bills. Neck injuries are nothing to mess around with, so the team will continue to be cautious with him as he recovers during the week.

Giants | No QB controversy in New York    Wed Oct 18, 01:20 AM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (neck) will return to his starting job when healthy and won't be replaced by QB Tyrod Taylor, head coach Brian Daboll said on Monday, Oct. 16.

Footballguys view: So, is there a controversy because they're saying there is no controversy? Jones has not looked as good as he did last year, and the offense played better than some expected when Taylor played against the Bills. For now, the Giants are not moving on from Jones - nor should they. Let's see if Jones can get healthy, stay healthy, and start performing like he did last year for HC Brian Daboll.

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones completed 22 of 32 passes for 137 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, Sept. 21. He also ran twice for five yards.

Footballguys view: This was one a real stinker for fantasy coming off of a week-winning second half vs. Arizona, but we shouldn't change our view of Jones as a fantasy commodity as much as we should consider the 49ers defense an avoid (Arizona faces them next week) and respect what the Rams were able to do against them last week. Jones will be a boom/bust QB1 against the Seahawks next week.
