Footballguys view: Jolly's story is a fantastic one, as he had been out of football because of drug issues (and jail time) but came back and performed well for a guy who had been off the field so long. We'll see if his story continues this year when the teams hit OTAs and mini camps.

Footballguys view: Jolly had a nice season for a guy who was out of football for a few years due to drugs and jail. We hope he gets a chance to continue the story this season.

Green Bay Packers DL Johnny Jolly has applied for reinstatement into the NFL from an indefinite suspension. 'I know that the NFL doesn't need me,' said Jolly. 'I need it way more than it needs me. I really want to be a part of it and I am hoping to go back and show that I am a good reliable citizen that the league and others can depend on and trust.'

Footballguys view: Jolly hasn't played since 2009. He's been arrested multiple times for illegal possession of codeine. According to the veteran DL, he's been sober for eight months and is in good shape.

A judge Monday, March 28, rejected Jolly's request for bond in the case, which means he'll remain in jail, a court spokeswoman said. Jolly is expected to come with a new lawyer to his court appearance, or the court will appoint a lawyer, the court spokeswoman said. Houston police arrested Jolly Friday, March 25, after allegedly finding 600 grams of codeine in his Cadillac Escalade.

Green Bay Packers DL Johnny Jolly was arrested Friday, March 25, for possession of codeine, which is a felony charge, according to Anna-Megan Raley and Gavin Spittle, of CBSHoustonTX.com. Jolly was pulled over for a traffic violation but gave the police a state identification card instead of a driver's license. The police found out that Jolly's license is suspended and is not eligible for renewal. The police found 600 grams of codeine as well as an unidentified substance.

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers DT Johnny Jolly will have to serve 160 hours of community service, which includes 10 speaking engagements in the Houston area about avoiding drug use over a year-long period, report Greg A. Berard and Ken Fountain, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Jolly will not be allowed to consume drugs or alcohol and stay away from establishments that serve alcohol.

Footballguys view: Several guidelines and rules for Jolly to follow here. Jolly will have to report to his probation officer once a month, and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. A doctor must contact the court if Jolly needs to be prescribed any medicine. Finally, Jolly may also face additional punishment from the NFL now that his court case has been resolved.
