Dallas Cowboys QB Jerrod Johnson was released Saturday, Sept. 3.
Footballguys view: That didn't last long. Johnson was added as a reserve QB for the preseason finale. With the addition of Mark Sanchez, the Cowboys no longer need Johnson. |

Free-agent QB Jerrod Johnson (Ravens) signed with the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Sept. 1. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Good ole 'Double Clutch!' Johnson is a big QB with a rocket arm, but he hesitates to throw under pressure -- and even when he does get rid of the ball he has 'say it don't spray it' accuracy. This doesn't solve anything for the Cowboys, and Johnson is no lock to make the 53-man roster. |

Baltimore Ravens WR Dobson Collins, WR Chuck Jacobs, QB Jerrod Johnson and WR Darius X. White were cut Monday, Aug. 29.
Footballguys view: Johnson is a big-armed QB who can't throw it into the ocean standing on the beach. He's bounced around a bit and is running out of chances to make it in the NFL. |

The Chicago Bears have released DE Israel Idonije and QB Jerrod Johnson.
Footballguys view: Good ole "Double Clutch" will have to latch on as a camp arm somewhere else. When the team added free agent Jimmy Clausen, the quarterback spot became cramped. We'll see if Clausen can beat out rookie David Fales for a spot on the depth chart. We should see Jordan Palmer be the primary backup to Jay Cutler. |

Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman said QB Jordan Palmer will receive the first chance to win the No. 2 quarterback job during training camp and the preseason. Palmer will be competing with QB Jerrod Johnson and David Fales for the job.
Footballguys view: Palmer is a seasoned veteran, and he works well with Trestman. "Double clutch" Jerrod Johnson is just a camp arm. Fales is an intriguing rookie with great anticipation and accuracy. We're expecting Fales to be the third-string developmental QB in 2014. |
