Cardinals | Three signed to practice squad Mon Sep 6, 06:21 PM
The Arizona Cardinals have announced they have signed free-agent WR Tim X. Brown, LB Curtis Gatewood and RB Ian Johnson to their practice squad.
Footballguys view: Ian Johnson is a slashing RB who looked good in limited duty for the Vikings this preseason. He can help out as a runner, receiver out of the backfield, or return man if called up to the active roster. |

Vikings | Six players let go Sat Sep 4, 04:00 PM
The Minnesota Vikings have waived RB Ian Johnson, OT Chris Clark, WRs Freddie Brown and WR Logan Payne, DE Mike Montgomery and OG Adrian Battles, reports Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Vikings | Eight signed to practice squad Sun Sep 6, 04:08 PM
Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings have re-signed free agents S Colt Anderson, QB John David Booty, OT Chris Clark, RB Ian Johnson, DT Tremaine Johnson, TE Garrett Mills, WR Nick Moore and OT Drew Radovich to their practice squad.
Footballguys view: Ian Johnson is an interesting RB to track in dynasty leagues because his prowess on special teams and versatility should allow him to catch on somewhere soon. Nick Moore is the little brother of New Orleans WR Lance Moore (even though he is four or five inches taller than Lance). |

Vikings | Roster cut down Sat Sep 5, 07:22 PM
Judd Zulgad, of The Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings have released DB Colt Anderson, FB Nehemiah Broughton, DE Martail Burnett, OL Chris Clark, OL Brian Daniels, OL Juan Garcia, DE Otis Grigsby, S DeVon Hall, LB Dave Herron, DT Antoine Holmes, RB Ian Johnson, DT Tremaine Johnson, OL Andy Kemp, CB Marcus McCauley, TE Garrett Mills, WR Nick Moore, TE Jake Nordin, WR Vinny Perretta, OL Drew Radovich, DB Marcus Walker and WR Bobby Williams.
Footballguys view: Nick Moore, younger brother of Saints receiver Lance Moore, may find a spot on a practice squad with the Vikings or another team. He's not the player that his brother is, but he is willing to go over the middle of the field, and does a good job of high-pointing passes. Cutting Ian Johnson is a mistake. The mini-slasher has the heart of a lion, and was having a productive preseason. He is also a versatile back, that can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield. |

Vikings | I. Johnson cut Sat Sep 5, 04:49 PM
Steve Wyche, of NFL.com, reports the Minnesota Vikings have cut rookie RB Ian Johnson.
Footballguys view: We think Johnson will surface again. His work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team will eventually get him on a roster. Like fellow NFC North rookie RB Tyrell Sutton, Johnson had flashes of brilliance during the preseason. His heart will keep him around the game as long as possible. |

Vikings | I. Johnson, Perretta agree to terms Sun Apr 26, 10:52 PM
Chadd Cripe, of the IdahoStatesman.com, reports the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with undrafted free-agent RB Ian Johnson (Boise State) and WR Vinny Perretta (Boise State). Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor are firmly entrenched at the top of the depth chart for the Vikings, but Ian Johnson has the ability to beat out Albert Young for that 3rd spot. Johnson's production slipped in his final 2 years at Boise State due to injuries. If healthy, Ian Johnson is a slashing RB with more speed and quickness than defenses expect. He could also be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield. |
