Bengals | Ochocinco scores Week 2 Sun Sep 20, 07:22 PM
The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco caught four passes for 91 yards with a touchdown during the team's Week 2 game.
| Our view: Ochocinco cherry picked the two Bengal fans with seats near the end zone for his Lambeau Leap. Ochocinco continues to play like the consistently strong 2005 version rather than the mercurial, distracted player he was in 2007 and 2008. |

Bengals | Ochocinco showing signs of resurgence Wed Sep 2, 08:21 PM
Alex Marvez, of FOXSports.com, reports that Cincinnati WR Chad Ochocinco is showing signs of a career resurgence. According to Ochocinco, the "old Chad" is back "10 times more than before."
| Our view: We would still be wary of drafting Chad before the mid-to-late third round, if not later, because Chris Henry has also emerged this offseason, and Laveranues Coles was also added to catch the short and intermediate routes that TJ Houshmandzadeh was so good at during his time with the Bengals. The Bengals offensive line could also let Carson Palmer down and not give him time to find Ochocinco on deep routes. |

The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco kicked an extra point Thursday, Aug. 20, because head coach Marvin Lewis is being cautious with PK Shayne Graham (groin). Ochocinco also kicked off to start the second half.

Bengals | Ochocinco explosive, tough to single cover Sun Aug 2, 06:52 PM
James Walker, of ESPN.com, reports that Cincinnati WR Chad Ochocinco has been explosive and tough to guard in single coverage in training camp after adhering to a strict offseason workout regimen in Los Angeles.
| Our view: We can put to rest any worries that Ochocinco is going through the motions again. The real worries about his fantasy value this year, and reasons we can't put him in the top 10-12 where he used to reside, mainly have to do with the Bengals offensive line giving Carson Palmer time to find Ochocinco deep, and the possible emergence of Chris Henry as one of Palmer's favorite targets. |

Bengals | Denzel Washington's tough love helped Ochocinco Sat Jul 25, 04:04 PM
Michael Silver, from Yahoo Sports, reports when Cincinnati Bengals wideout Chad Ochocinco met Denzel Washington at a Los Angeles Lakers game this past spring, it wasn't the mutual fawning session you might expect. Rather than compliment the receiver formerly known as Johnson for his athletic excellence, Washington called him out, portraying Ochocinco's lost 2008 season as a self-inflicted nightmare. "He got on me about the way I handled myself last offseason," Ochocinco recalled in a phone conversation last week. "He wasn't being gentle. He said, 'You know what? You need to straighten up and stop fussin' about something you have no control over. Make it fun again because it sure looks better when you do it that way.' That's all I needed to hear, especially from somebody like him."
| Our view: We picture Denzel going off on Ochocinco like he did Ethan Hawke at the end of Training Day. |

Bengals | Ochocinco determined and in great shape Thu Jul 23, 06:02 PM
Joe Reedy, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports that Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco "did come into OTAs and minicamp in great shape. He looks determined to return to prior form which means over 90 catches, 1,000 yards and 7-9 touchdowns."
| Our view: Our staff is over the place on Ochocinco. The average ranking is 16th, which means you'll probably have to take him as one of the first WR2s off the board to get him. If Cincinnati's offensive line can give Carson Palmer time to throw deep, Ochocinco could hit the numbers Reedy projects for him. |

Bengals | Ochocinco plans to tweet during games despite NFL rule Wed Jul 15, 07:50 PM
Shutdown Corner, a Yahoo! Sports blog, reports that WR Chad Ochocinco said he was planning to defy an NFL rule against updating twitter accounts during games during an interview on SportsFanLive. He said, "there's a lot of things they don't want me to do. I do it anyway. They know that. I don't know why they even fussing about it. ... When I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it, regardless of what they say."
| Our view: Good luck with that, Ochocinco. He probably has a hundred thousand set aside for fines during the season anyway, so he won't notice the inevitable fine that will come if he keeps his word. |

Bengals | Ochocinco to use Twitter during games Tue Jul 7, 11:55 AM
SportsRadioInterviews.com reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said during a Houston radio interview that he plans to use Twitter during games this season. 'It's big for me and I'm taking it a step further,' Ochocinco said of Twitter. 'I have my own application coming out where people will be able to interact and follow me. You know more than through just the keyboard and reading my messages - you'll actually be able to follow me and when the season starts, it's going to get even worse. I'm going to really make it fun. I'm using Twitter during games, during halftime, after the games. I'm going to be taking it to the next level.'
| Our view: We think Ochocinco may be getting a little carried away with his Twittering. The NFL is likely to ban any cell phones or devices from the sidelines where he could "tweet" from, so this could be a non-issue by the time the preseason rolls around. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello stated the league is looking into this matter. |

NFL | Ochocinco, Merriman trash talking via Twitter Thu Jun 25, 12:49 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco and San Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merriman have been trading barbs via Twitter about who will win the match up between the Bengals and Merriman this season. Ochocinco said he is confident that the Bengals will win the matchup, which prompted Merriman to respond 'Are you serious?' Ochocinco then challenged the Chargers offensive line to a boxing match and then talked about Merriman trying to stop him. 'Shawne Merriman tryin to stop Ocho Cinco, CHILD PLEASE, better chance at finding Osama!,' Ochocinco said.
| Our view: Trash talking on twitter!?! Should we call it Twash talking, or a battle of Twits? Seems like Ochocinco is back to his old (tired) routine. It sounds like he wants to box anyone that talks bad about him. He must have been watching too much pro wrestling in the offseason. Never say never, but at this point we like the Chargers just a little bit more in that matchup. |

Bengals | Palmer says Ochocinco will be go-to receiver Mon Jun 22, 11:23 AM
The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer reiterated that WR Chad Ochocinco remains his top target within the team's offense. 'He's going to play (the lead role) because he deserves to play there,' Palmer said. 'He's been one of the best receivers in this league for a long time. He's still able to play at that level, and still capable of making big plays and carrying the load offensively at the receiver spot, so he will.'
| Our view: It's all rainbows and lollipops with Palmer and Ochocinco, when just a couple of weeks ago it seemed like the QB was sick of his once favorite receiver. Since Ochocinco has returned to Cincinnati things have been "all good" between the pair. Palmer's health is the key to the Bengals offense, and even though T.J. Houshmandzadeh is now in Seattle, the team has Laveranues Coles, Chris Henry, and Andre Caldwell to help pick up the slack. |

Bengals | Ochocinco says team will make playoffs Thu Jun 18, 02:03 PM
James Walker, of ESPN.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said the Bengals will make the playoffs this season. 'It's going to be a great year; we're going to the playoffs. We're going...We're making progress. I mean, I see it, and I can come out on a limb and say what we're going to do,' Ochocinco said.
| Our view: Oh boy, slow down here Chad. A healthy Carson Palmer and an improved defense will help the Bengals be better in 2009, but the AFC North is a brutal division to play in. The Steelers and Ravens should battle for the division title and the one that doesn't win has to be a favorite to make it into the dance as a wildcard. With the AFC East and the AFC South also having great competition it's doubtful that 2 Wildcard teams would come from the AFC North. Both the Ravens and Steelers are built for championship runs, while the Bengals would have a successful year if they finish 8-8. |

Bengals | Ochocinco to stay with Palmer's family Tue Jun 16, 08:57 AM
The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said during HBO's 'Joe Buck Live' he plans to stay with QB Carson Palmer's family in July to make up for the lost time of the pair not working together much during the offseason. 'For the time that I missed with Carson throughout the offseason, I'm going to make it up in July,' Ochocinco said.
| Our view: "We do argue all the time like a married couple," Ochocinco said. "I think that's why we've been so successful together, because we have that type of relationship we can get on one another." Palmer and his flamboyant wideout have an interesting relationship to say the least. After criticizing Ochocinco earlier in the offseason for not being with the team, Palmer is now trying to make the most out of the current situation. This could be Ochocinco's last year with the Bengals, but it's shaping up to be an interesting one. |

Bengals | Ochocinco reports Tue Jun 9, 01:25 PM
ESPN.com reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco reported to organized team activities Tuesday, June 9, and is expected to be on the practice field.
| Our view: If Ochocinco practices it will be the first time he and Carson Palmer have worked together since Palmer's elbow injury last season. Chad knows that he needs a fresh start in Cincy, so we'll see if the talented receiver can get his career back on track in 2009. |

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco thinks the 2009 version of the team is better on paper than the 2005 team that captured the AFC North.
| Our view: 'The defense is sick now they're so good and we'll be better on offense because I'll be better,' Ochocinco said. 'I'm in unbelievable shape. I can run the Boston Marathon without stopping.' |

Bengals | Ochocinco didn't do any work last offseason Fri Jun 5, 07:28 PM
During an interview with the NFL Network, Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said he did not run any routes or lift a single weight in the offseason last year.

Bengals | Ochocinco says he's motivated Wed Jun 3, 09:14 AM
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said he is once again motivated to have a strong season, something he claims to have been lacking for the last decade.
| Our view: 'From 1997-99, I was hungry. Since then it got a little too easy for me,' Ochocinco said. 'I wouldn't say I stopped working hard but that hunger wasn't like it used to be. Right now it's back. It's back 10 times worse than what it was before I got to the league.' Ochocinco is certainly motivated to prove that he's more than just a punchline in the NFL. |

Bengals | Ochocinco to attend minicamp Wed Jun 3, 09:09 AM
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said he will be at the team's mandatory minicamp when it begins June 18.
| Our view: 'Of course, why not go and show off the product?' said Ochocinco of the upcoming minicamp. 'Why not leave my coaches mouths wide open? I'm sure all the people in Cincinnati think I'm really not doing that much but you'll see the results with the work I'm putting in right now.' It's all lip service until we see it on the field. |

Bengals | Ochocinco is on a mission Mon Jun 1, 09:20 PM
Drew Rosenhaus tweets Chad OchoCinco is really on a mission. He has truly dedicated himself this offseason. He will be tougher then ever to cover this year.

Bengals | Palmer says team needs Ochocinco Sat May 30, 09:22 PM
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer has been vocal about the team's wide receivers that are working out with the team and of WR Chad Ochocinco not being there. However, Palmer was quick to point out the team still needs Ochocinco.
| Our view: 'He's a damn good receiver - that's obviously, everybody knows that,' Palmer said. 'I never once said anything about not wanting him here and not needing him. ... We would love to have him when he comes here, but he's not here right now.' |

Bengals | Ochocinco working with former junior college coach Thu May 21, 07:16 PM
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco has been working out with Charles Collins, his former junior college coach. Collins said that Ochocinco has been working out in Los Angeles for the past three weeks. He added Ochocinco is ready to return to the form he was at three or four seasons ago. 'He and I know he didn't play well (last year),' Collins said. 'We've been getting back to things that he did in the beginning. His focus is good and he is separating and getting out of his breaks well.'
| Our view: Collins noted Ochocinco's shoulder is doing well and he has been doing a lot of lifting. Chad played junior college ball with Stevon Smith (Carolina's Steve Smith) and has been close to coach Collins since then. It could be the end of the road for Ochocinco in Cincy this year so he could basically be auditioning for another team in 2009. |

Bengals | Palmer criticizes Ochocinco's absence Thu May 21, 12:19 AM
Joe Reedy, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer criticized WR Chad Ochocinco's absence from the team's offseason workouts during an interview with SIRIUS NFL Radio. Palmer admitted the team's receiver corps has a new look with WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh signing with the Seattle Seahawks and Ochocinco sitting out workouts. Palmer said, "T.J.'s (Houshmandzadeh) gone and Chad's pretty much gone, he hasn't been here, so we've got guys that want those two spots, guys that compete day in and day out, when we're out there on the field, running, conditioning and in the weight room lifting. They're guys that want to take over for those two spots. They look every bit capable of doing what we're going to ask them to do."
| Our view: Ochocinco is reportedly training in Los Angeles, but he is expected to attend the team's mandatory minicamp in June. Palmer's statements are in line with the reputation that Ochocinco now has. Carson is building chemistry with his new WR Laveranues Coles and he's talking like Chris Henry will take over for Ochocinco. |

Bengals | Ochocinco's jersey to say "Ochocinco" Thu May 14, 07:48 PM
The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco's jersey will say "Ochocinco" because that is how he wrote it when he legally submitted his name-change form last August in Florida. He said last year that he wanted his name to be "Ocho Cinco."
| Our view: Because you guys need to know. Also - has anyone told Chad that Ocho Cinco translates to eight five and not eighty five? Ochente Cinco is the correct translation. |
Bengals | Ochocinco in great shape Mon May 11, 10:02 AM
The agent for Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco, Drew Rosenhaus, reports on his Twitter page that Ochocinco has been working overtime this offseason with his training. Rosenhaus added Ochocinco is in the best shape of his career and very motivated.
| Our view: Ochocinco came to the realization that he would be with the Bengals in 2009 when no team showed real interest in trading for him. His antics have become tired across the league, but if he can get the focus back on his play then maybe teams will take notice. |

Bengals | Listening for offers for Ochocinco Thu Apr 23, 02:03 PM
ESPNews reports the Cincinnati Bengals are listening to offers for WR Chad Ochocinco but likely will not trade him.
| Our view: They should have taken the offer of 2 first rounders from the Redskins last year. It seems doubtful that other NFL teams will give up much for Ocho Cinco. His act has grown tired around the league and he more than likely will be stuck in Cincy. |
Bengals | Lewis said Johnson will not be traded Tue Apr 21, 03:19 PM
Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said the team is not trading WR Chad Johnson. 'I don't know why people continue with the speculation of moving Chad,' Lewis said. 'Many times we've reiterated, I don't know if we're keeping count on this, Chad's not getting moved.'
| Our view: Is Chad Johnson the Rodney Dangerfield of NFL WRs? While players like Anquan Boldin and Braylon Edwards may be on the move there has been little to no response from teams wanting Ocho Cinco. It seems as though his act has grown tired around the league so he might as well get used to the idea that he'll still be in Cincinnati for 2009. |
