NFL | Rashad Jennings has talked with multiple teams    Wed Aug 2, 02:19 PM

Free-agent RB Rashad Jennings (Giants) told Sirius XM NFL Radio almost two weeks ago he's had 'simple conversations' with the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins.

Footballguys view: Jennings is a hard worker but aside from a solid 863 season with the Giants in 2015, has never really taken off the way we'd hoped he would. He's a backup with any of the listed teams and nothing more than that in fantasy if he lands on them.

NFL | Rashad Jennings expects to sign with club    Mon Jul 10, 11:59 PM

Free-agent RB Rashad Jennings (Giants) said he expects to sign with a team before the season begins. He mentioned how he's in the best shape of his life and that's what he's 'known for across the league.'

Footballguys view: Jennings should be somewhere for training camp. He's a good all-purpose back, but it's a young man's position so that's why he's a free agent right now. Once injuries hit in camp, Jennings should get some interest.

NFL | Rashad Jennings hoping to find a home    Sun Jul 9, 08:22 PM

Free-agent RB Rashad Jennings (Giants) said he has maintained a strict workout regimen and is in the best shape of his life, and he is hoping to sign with a team before the start of the season.

Footballguys view: Jennings is fresh off of a stint on Dancing with the Stars. His pass blocking and receiving should get him a look as we get closer to the beginning of the season and teams assess the readiness of their younger backs to handle passing down work.

NFL | Rashad Jennings has chip on shoulder    Thu Feb 23, 04:50 PM

Free-agent RB Rashad Jennings (Giants) said he has a chip on his shoulder after being released by the New York Giants. Jennings believes he still has a strong work ethic and plenty of gas left in the tank, not to mention that he's healthy.

Footballguys view: Jennings is a good all-purpose back and he should get some interest on the open market. He's unlikely to land a clear starting job, but he could be put in a position to compete for one in the right situation.

Giants | Rashad Jennings let go    Mon Feb 13, 02:11 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings was released Monday, Feb. 13. Jennings would have counted over $3 million against the salary cap. The release will save the Giants $2.5 million.

Footballguys view: Jennings is a good all-purpose back who could help a team looking for veteran depth. He made it through 13 games in 2016, compiling 593 rushing yards, 201 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Giants | Giants to move on from Rashad Jennings?    Thu Feb 9, 07:40 PM

The New York Giants may be moving on from RB Rashad Jennings, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Jennings is a great guy and a hard worker, but he never hit the level of play the team wanted from him when they brought him in. With Paul Perkins playing well, the team can use that roster spot - and money - on something like the offensive line. Jennings could be a solid change of pace back or role player elsewhere.

Giants | Rashad Jennings expects to return    Tue Jan 31, 09:29 AM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings said he expects to return to the team in 2017. Jennings has one year left on his deal, and his release would save the club $2.5 million.

Footballguys view: Jennings yielded more and more to fifth-round pick Paul Perkins as the year went on, and we should expect the second-year back to be the lead back when camp opens whether Jennings is with the Giants or not. At the point, Jennings is probably best suited to being a third-down and no huddle running back because of his blocking prowess and versatility.

Giants | Paul Perkins splits it up    Mon Dec 12, 09:23 AM

New York Giants RB Paul Perkins and RB Rashad Jennings each rushed 15 times for 45 yards Sunday, Dec. 11, against the Dallas Cowboys.

Footballguys view: With Shane Vereen down with a concussion, Perkins was able to do more. The rookie from UCLA has a dash of Jamaal Charles to his game. We'll be watching his development in dynasty leagues, but he's nothing more than a desperation 'what the heck' flex for redraft owners.

Giants | Rashad Jennings taking over NYG backfield    Mon Nov 21, 12:29 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings played 47-of-67 snaps in a Week 11 victory over the Chicago Bears, while Paul Perkins saw 20 snaps.

Footballguys view: This could be a repeat of what we saw last year when Jennings had over 100 all-purpose yards each week of the fantasy playoffs. His RB1 potential makes him at least a RB2/flex option for fantasy owners. So long as he's getting this workload and staying healthy, Jennings should produce as a runner and receiver out of the backfield.

Giants | Rashad Jennings finds end zone    Sun Oct 23, 12:57 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings rushed for 25 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7. He also caught two passes for 24 yards during the game.

Footballguys view: Jennings is bye/injury/emergency filler at running back at best. The team did feed him on goal-to-go downs, but sooner or later they will want to take a longer look at rookie Paul Perkins.

Giants | Rashad Jennings not on injury report    Fri Oct 21, 07:14 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 7. The Giants did not practice Friday, so this is an estimation.

Footballguys view: Jennings thumb might not be limiting him, but the Giants stalled out running game makes it a moot point. The team should give rookie Paul Perkins a long look sooner or later.

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) put in a full practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was active in Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens, but he managed just nine rushes for 15 yards. He also had four receptions for 20 yards.

Footballguys view: Jennings has nothing left in the tank as a runner and the Giants run blocking isn't helping anyone anyway. He's not worth carrying in typical leagues.

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is listed as questionable for Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens but told reporters Thursday, Oct. 13, that 'we're rocking this week' after missing the last three games.

Footballguys view: Jennings is still only a desperation play with the Ravens tough run defense and Bobby Rainey handling a lot of the passing game work.

Giants | Limited participation for Rashad Jennings     Thu Oct 13, 03:43 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Footballguys view: It's not a great matchup to come back to for Jennings, but the ground game has been bad enough to where we know he'll get volume. We predict RB3 numbers from him this week against Baltimore.

Giants | Rashad Jennings expects to play    Thu Oct 13, 02:19 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) said he expects to play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.

Footballguys view: The run game has been brutal for the Giants, so Jennings will get a chance to perform if he's ready to go. We could see RB3 numbers from him even in a tough matchup against Baltimore.

Giants | Rashad Jennings limited again    Wed Oct 12, 03:05 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Giants | Rashad Jennings unlikely to play    Sun Oct 9, 10:20 AM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is not expected to play in Week 5's game against the Green Bay Packers.

Giants | Rashad Jennings limited on Friday    Fri Oct 7, 04:12 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was limited again at practice Friday, Oct. 7.

Giants | Rashad Jennings limited again    Thu Oct 6, 04:10 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Footballguys view: We'll see if he goes either Friday or Saturday, though the matchup against the Packers isn't great. Orleans Darkwa is the primary back otherwise and only nets you RB3 production. Jennings won't be much better and has the disadvantage of a healing thumb looming over him.

Giants | Rashad Jennings to sit out MNF    Mon Oct 3, 12:13 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) has been ruled out Week 4 versus the Minnesota Vikings.

Footballguys view: It's the Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey show tonight. Against a tough Vikings defense, we can't recommend either back as anything more than a 'what the heck' flex.

Giants | Rashad Jennings could have small role    Sun Oct 2, 01:02 AM

Updating previous reports, New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) could be active Monday, Oct. 3, against the Minnesota Vikings but is unlikely to play a significant role, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. Jennings is limited in both blocking and catching passes due to his injury.

Footballguys view: Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey should get more work in the backfield Monday night, but neither is more than a desperation play against the stout Vikings defense.

Giants | Rashad Jennings questionable    Sat Oct 1, 03:09 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was limited during practice Saturday, Oct. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Footballguys view: Jennings is going to be a game-time decision, and we don't think he plays against a tough Vikings defense on Monday night. Even if he does play, the matchup is tough and fantasy owners have much better options.

Giants | Rashad Jennings limited again    Fri Sep 30, 04:37 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 30.

Footballguys view: Jennings looks unlikely to play based on early week reports, but he hasn't been ruled out. If he does play Monday night, he is unlikely to play in the passing game. There's no good Giants running back play this week no matter who starts against the Vikings.

Giants | Rashad Jennings likely to sit    Thu Sep 29, 09:07 AM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is likely to miss the Week 4 game Monday, Oct. 3, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: If we were facing the Vikings' defensive front behind this offensive line, we'd sit too. Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey will split the load, but we want no part of this.

Giants | Rashad Jennings could be back Week 4    Mon Sep 26, 02:32 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb), who missed Week 3 with a sprained thumb, could be ready to return against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Footballguys view: The Giants held Jennings out against Washington even though he felt he could have played. With Shane Vereen out for the season, the Giants could certainly benefit from Jennings being out there. Behind Jennings, guys like Bobby Rainey and rookie Paul Perkins will compete for snaps.

Giants | Rashad Jennings expected back in Week 4    Sun Sep 25, 08:36 PM

Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) said Sunday, Sept. 25, that he understood head coach Ben McAdoo's decision to keep him out. He said his thumb feels better and he is hopeful of returning in Week 4.

Footballguys view: Shane Vereen and Orleans Darkwa split the work in the backfield and both scored against Washington this week. Next week brings the stout Vikings defense, so we will probably stay away from the Giants backfield no matter who starts.

Giants | Rashad Jennings unlikely to play    Sun Sep 25, 09:14 AM

Contrary to a previous report, New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is not expected to be active for Week 3's game against the Washington Redskins. RB Shane Vereen is expected to see the bulk of the snaps in his place.

Footballguys view: Orleans Darkwa is Jennings backup between the tackles and he could get goal line work. Washington is a favorable rushing matchup, so Vereen moves into RB2 consideration, especially in PPR leagues.

Giants | Rashad Jennings likely to play Week 3    Sat Sep 24, 12:18 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (hand) is continuing to work through his sprained left thumb and done enough to make offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan believe he'll be able to play through the injury in Week 3 versus the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: Jennings should play..and he should be the lead back for the Giants. However, fantasy owners should consider him no more than a RB3/flex option against Washington.

Giants | Rashad Jennings listed as questionable    Fri Sep 23, 03:36 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) is being listed as questionable for the team's Week 3 game Sunday, September 26, against the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: Jennings should play in a good matchup, but his left thumb injury could affect his usage as a receiver, and the Giants went to Shane Vereen over Jennings in the red zone last week. Even in a good matchup, Jennings is just a what the heck flex against Washington this week.

Giants | Rashad Jennings limited     Thu Sep 22, 04:44 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Footballguys view: Jennings also lost red zone carries to Shane Vereen and isn't used much in the passing game right now--so we're not bullish on him even healthy. He's a borderline RB3/RB4, depending on how the injury hampers him.

Giants | Rashad Jennings on track for Week 3    Tue Sep 20, 04:14 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) had a cast on his right thumb Tuesday, Sept. 20, but he said it will be removed before the Week 3 game against the Washington Redskins Sunday, Sept. 25. Jennings is confident he will play Sunday, and he also noted he could play with the cast on, if needed.

Footballguys view: Jennings is confident, but fantasy owners should not be confident in him. The team is going to split time between Jennings and Shane Vereen -- plus the offense is built more on the passing game. Both Jennings and Vereen are RB3/flex options (and not exciting ones at that) for fantasy owners.

Giants | Rashad Jennings should play    Mon Sep 19, 06:58 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (hand) should be on the field in some capacity in Week 3, according to ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan.

Footballguys view: Jennings may be out there, but fantasy owners can find better options. The Giants are at home against a Washington defense that is soft against the run. Jennings is splitting time with Shane Vereen, and we can't recommend either more than 'what the heck' flex-level plays.

Giants | Rashad Jennings the lead back    Tue Aug 2, 02:22 PM

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings is the No. 1 running back this year, according to running backs coach Craig Johnson. Johnson dispelled any notion that the Giants would implement a four-running back committee again this season.

Footballguys view: That's good news for fantasy players, and Jennings current ADP (RB37) may rise a bit with this report. Jennings can do it all as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. His fantasy stock is cool because of his injury history and because the Giants could use Shane Vereen and/or rookie Paul Perkins as a change-of-pace back. If healthy, Jennings could easily perform like a low-end RB2.
