Steelers | Jawan Jamison signed    Fri Aug 1, 11:46 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed free-agent RB Jawan Jamison (Redskins). Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived RB Alvester Alexander.

Footballguys view: Alexander was a decent all-purpose back who could play on special teams. Jamison has a small stature, but he's compact and runs with good balance. Too bad his feet are slow and his overall quickness won't make him standout.

Redskins | Three cut    Tue Mar 4, 04:13 PM

The Washington Redskins released TE Richard Quinn and RBs Jawan Jamison and Davin Meggett Tuesday, March 4.

Footballguys view: Jamison showed up out of shape last year, and he was only valuable as a good fit for the Shanahan running game.

Redskins | Jawan Jamison showed up out of shape    Thu Feb 6, 12:11 AM

Washington Redskins RB Jawan Jamison showed up to camp out of shape as a rookie, which got him off on the wrong foot with the team. According to beat writer John Keim, unless he shows something during the offseason, he might be destined for a spot on the practice squad due to depth at the position. He is signed through the 2017 season.

Footballguys view: Jamison was not that impressive on film. He's slow footed and fails to change directions smoothly. Dynasty owners should not consider Jamison a gem on their bench.

Redskins | Promote Jawan Jamison to the active roster    Tue Dec 10, 04:19 PM

The Washington Redskins promoted RB Jawan Jamison from the practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Footballguys view: Jamison is a small running back with a low center of gravity and good balance. He's a bit slow footed and struggles to change direction cleanly. He's activated because of the injury to Roy Helu (ankle).

Redskins | 15 players released    Sat Aug 31, 12:14 PM

The Washington Redskins have released RB Keiland Williams, RB Jawan Jamison, WR Skye Dawson, WR Nick X. Williams, WR Lance Lewis, TE Emmanuel Ogbuehi, OT Tony Pashos, OT Xavier Nixon, OL Tevita Stevens, DL Chigbo Anunoby, DL Dominique Hamilton, DT Ron Brace, LB Vic So'oto, CB Chase Minnifield and SS DeJon Gomes.

Footballguys view: Williams lost out to Evan Royster for a spot in the backfield behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu. He can line up at running back or fullback and could latch on with another team in the near future. He can also contribute on special teams.

Redskins | Chris Thompson, Jawan Jamison to see preseason action    Thu Aug 15, 06:13 PM

Washington Redskins RBs Chris Thompson and Jawan Jamison have a good shot to see action with the second-team offense in the team's second preseason game. They had both previously been limited to work with the third-string offense.

Footballguys view: Thompson is competing with Roy Helu to be a change of pace back behind Alfred Morris. The rookie from Florida State is an explosive playmaker who is dangerous in space. He's worked his way back from a knee injury that cut his final season in college short.

Redskins | Rookie RBs could be third down options    Sat Jul 13, 11:17 AM

Washington Redskins RBs Chris Thompson and Jawan Jamison could be candidates for the third down running back role during training camp.

Footballguys view: If Thompson is healthy then he's the player to keep an eye on here. He's currently recovering from knee surgery but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. Thompson has incredible speed, burst, and can change direction without losing much speed.

Redskins | RB notes    Fri Jul 12, 12:47 PM

The Washington Redskins are sorting out their RB depth chart. Roy Helu seems like the best fit for changeup work, and he has improved in his pass protection. Evan Royster will have to be beaten out for his roster spot. Rookie Chris Thompson (knee) would be a solid fit for triple-option reads and third-down plays, as well, but he needs to heal following a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Plus, he needs to gain experience in picking up blitzes. Jawan Jamison, another first-year player, looks to be more in the mold of Royster.

Footballguys view: If he can stay healthy we'll likely see Helu win the backup job behind Alfred Morris. Royster is a bigger back who lacks the footwork to be more than a short yardage guy. Thompson is an exciting rookie from Florida State who can absolutely fly and change direction smoothly without losing much speed. If healthy he could make for a nice big play back.

Redskins | Four RBs likely to compete for roster spots    Sun May 19, 03:18 PM

Washington Redskins RBs Roy Helu, Evan Royster, Chris Thompson and Jawan Jamison are expected to compete for two roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp. Helu and Thompson are expected to compete for one spot while Royster and Jamison are expected to compete for the other roster spot.

Footballguys view: Helu is a good all-around back but injuries have prevented him from playing up to his potential. Thompson is a big play back who can score anytime he touches the ball. He has to prove he's back his knee surgery and is expected to be ready for contact by the start of training camp. Royster is the biggest back here, but lacks the balance and short area quicks of Jamison.

Redskins | Jawan Jamison signs    Thu May 16, 10:37 AM

The Washington Redskins signed seventh-round pick RB Jawan Jamison to a four-year deal.

Footballguys view: Just like with Chris Thompson, their fifth-round pick, any RB under the guidance of Mike Shanahan is one fantasy owners need to keep an eye on. Jamison is built low to the ground, runs with good balance, and does a good job driving his legs after contact. He can be used effectively on screen passes or draw plays to get him in space. Jamison doesn't have the speed to make the edge at the pro level.

Bills | Have met with Jawan Jamison    Sat Feb 23, 05:11 PM

Rutgers RB Jawan Jamison said he has met with the Buffalo Bills at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: Jamison reminds some in the scouting community of a poor man's Ray Rice. He's built low to the ground and can grind between the tackles even though he's not the biggest back.

NFL | Jawan Jamison to enter draft     Sat Jan 5, 01:25 PM

Rutgers RB Jawan Jamison will forgo his final two years of eligibility and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Jamison is expected to be a second- or third-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. He reminds some in the scouting community of former Rutgers RB and current Ravens RB Ray Rice. Jamison is a compact player who can effectively run between the tackles and has good burst in the open field.
