Houston Texans WRs Keshawn Martin and DeVier Posey, two undrafted free agents, are among several receivers battling for roster spots. WRs Trindon Holliday, Juaquin Iglesias, Jerrell Jackson, Mario Louis and Jeff Maehl are also in the mix, and the team is expected to sign a couple more veteran receivers to compete. 'I like this group,' head coach Gary Kubiak said. 'I like their ability. They've come a long way (in six OTAs).'

CBSSports.com reports Bears second-year WR Juaquin Iglesias thinks he can go the Earl Bennett route (or Robert Meachem route) by making an impact after not catching a pass as a rookie. Iglesias has shown flashes in offseason practices and hopes to make more of an impact in 2010. "I am just ready, man," he said. "I feel like I was ready last year and I just didn't get the opportunity."

Larry Mayer, from ChicagoBears.com, reports the Bears are confident in ascending young receivers Devin Hester, Devin Aromashodu, Earl Bennett and Johnny Knox. But that doesn't mean that Juaquin Iglesias won't have a chance to earn some playing time. "He's going to have an opportunity to be right there fighting for one of those spots," WR coach Darryl Drake said. "That's what happens in this league. He continues to get better, and we'll see what happens. He's improved in all areas, just understanding the pro game and the things you have to do as far as how to work, how to run routes and just being consistent day-in and day-out. I think he's improved in all facets of the game--mentally and physically--and that's what you have to do."
| Footballguys view: Iglesias was the Bears leading receiver in the preseason last year, but was lost in the shuffle and didn't hit the field in the regular season until the end of the year. Devin Hester will be the big play receiver, tight end Greg Olsen will work the middle of the field, with Bennett and Knox finding the soft spots in the coverage from the outside and slot respectively. Offensive coordinator Ron Turner made sure to point out that Bennett's improvement and newfound maturity started before the team acquired his college teammate, Jay Cutler. The Arlington Heights Daily Herald reports that since wide receiver is considered a Bears weakness, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Iglesias will have a chance to contribute immediately, unlike last year's third-round pick, wide receiver Earl Bennett, who failed to catch a pass all season.

Jeff Dickerson, of ESPN.com, reports Chicago Bears TE Desmond Clark said he believes WR Juaquin Iglesias is a perfect fit for the team's offensive scheme. 'He is the perfect type of receiver for our offense. Obviously, we were looking for a little help at receiver, and I think this guy can make an impact immediately,' Clark said.

He doesn't have the straight line speed to get deep, and he'll have to make his way in the NFL as a complimentary receiver. Sooners WR's have failed to get off to fast starts in the NFL. Mark Clayton, Mark Bradley, Brandon Jones all struggled early in their careers. We'll see if Desmond Clark is right and if Iglesias can break the trend for Sooners receivers his rookie year. |

Brad Biggs, of The Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo hasn't ruled out signing a veteran wide receiver. However, because of his comments during a radio show on Mulley and Hanley on 670-AM, it seems unlikely. The Bears drafted three receivers - Juaquin Iglesias (third round), Johnny Knox (fifth) and Derek Kinder (seventh) - and Angelo is counting on WR Earl Bennett to emerge. Angelo said he told head coach Lovie Smith he feels good about the three rookies and doesn't feel near the need to go out and add a receiver post-draft as he did before it.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Minnesota Vikings are showing considerable interest in University of Oklahoma WR Juaquin Iglesias. The team attended his Pro Day and he had a pre-draft visit scheduled for April 8.
