Cowboys | Allen Hurns to be limited    Tue Jun 11, 07:16 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle) will participate in individual drills during minicamp this week.

Footballguys view: It's a good sign for Hurns as he recovers from the ankle injury that knocked him out of the Wild Card Round last year. We should see him out there as a full participant at some time during training camp.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns likely back during camp    Sun May 26, 05:09 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle, leg) should return to the practice field at some point during training camp. Head coach Jason Garrett said Hurns has made good progress in his rehab.

Footballguys view: Hurns was injured in the Cowboys Wild Card Round victory over the Seahawks back in January. He's been on the road to recovery ever since and has been held out of OTAs as expected and planned. We'll see Hurns compete with free agent addition Randall Cobb for the No. 3 WR spot during training camp.

Cowboys | Several players to miss workouts    Fri May 24, 07:52 PM

Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder), CB Byron Jones (hip), DE Christian Covington (calf), DE Taco Charlton (ankle, shoulder) and WR Allen Hurns (ankle) will not participate in the offseason workouts because of injuries.

Footballguys view: Of these, Charlton is probably the most worrisome, as the team has gotten little contributions from him in the first two years of his rookie deal after going in the first round in 2017. Hurns could fall behind Randall Cobb for slot duties while he is out if Cobb develops early chemistry with Dak Prescott.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns falling out of favor?    Fri Mar 22, 09:37 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns will likely see fewer opportunities next season after the signing of WR Randall Cobb, in the opinion of Kate Hairopoulos of The Dallas Morning News.

Footballguys view: Hurns may not even make the team since he comes with a somewhat pricy four million dollar salary. Hurns best fit was in the slot, and now Cobb provides a better player, albeit one that has as much trouble staying healthy (or more) than Hurns.

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns, OL Joe Looney and LB Joe X. Thomas had their 2019 options exercised Friday, March 8.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns could play in slot     Tue Feb 26, 03:05 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns could take over as the slot receiver if impending free-agent WR Cole Beasley is not re-signed. Jones iterated that the Cowboys would like to retain Beasley.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys should have a lot of options even if they can't afford Beasley, but it makes sense to look on the roster first. Some have said that Hurns is better in the slot, so this could end up helping the team get more value out of his signing.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns lands on IR    Wed Jan 9, 12:20 AM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Jan. 8. In a corresponding move, WR Lance Lenoir was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

Footballguys view: Hurns suffered a gruesome injury in the Wild Card Game against the Seahawks. He underwent surgery as the game was going on and is expected to be able to return to football at some point in the summer. With a $6.2 million cap hit in 2019 (and only $1.25 million in dead money), Hurns is likely to be on the open market as soon as possible.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns recovering from surgery    Sun Jan 6, 10:31 AM

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (ankle) has already undergone surgery on his dislocated ankle, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Great news for Hurns here. Assuming there are no setbacks with his recovery, he is expected to be able to return to football by August. That being said, he may not be returning to the Cowboys. He has a cap hit of $6.2 million in 2019 with only $1.25 million in dead money. There's a good chance the Cowboys get out of his contract after only one season in Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (leg) is having surgery Saturday, Jan. 5, following his injury against the Seattle Seahawks in the wild-card round, according to owner Jerry Jones.

Footballguys view: Hurns suffered a gruesome injury in the game on Saturday and went under the knife as soon as possible. He has a cap hit of $6.2 million in 2019 with only $1.25 million in dead money. There's a good chance the Cowboys get out of his contract after only one season in Dallas.   Cowboys | Allen Hurns not seeing the field    Fri Nov 16, 09:50 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns has played less than 20 snaps in back-to-back games, but he said he is staying patient. 'Just wait for the opportunity and control what I can,' Hurns said.

Footballguys view: The trade for Amari Cooper just pushed Hurns further down the pecking order. Cooper, Michael Gallup and Cole Beasley are the top three receivers for the Cowboys. Fantasy GMs should have moved on from Hurns already.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns wants the ball    Thu Sep 27, 09:43 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns said he is becoming 'frustrated' by his lack of involvement in the passing game. 'The majority of the snaps, I feel like I can get separation,' Hurns said.

Footballguys view: Hurns is overpaid and miscast as a starting receiver on a team without a true #1 or quarterback who can consistently make tight window throws. He's not worth carrying in any format right now.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns to do individual drills    Sat Aug 4, 03:12 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns (groin) said Saturday, Aug. 4, that he will do individual drills in practice.

Footballguys view: This is not great news for the Cowboys. They have moved on from Dez Bryant and are trying to establish a new pecking order at the WR position. Hurns could be the lead guy with rookie Michael Gallup playing a large role as well. We'll see when Hurns can get back to full participation as he has been dealing with some groin issues early in training camp.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns motivated    Mon May 28, 05:16 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns is using two disappointing seasons in a row and grief from pundits about Dallas having the worst receiving corps in the league as motivation for 2018. 'Our room, we have a lot of guys who have a lot to prove. I like being in a room like that,' Hurns said. 'Each and every day we're going to go out there and push each other.'

Footballguys view: Hurns signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Cowboys and they need him to come through in a big way. They've moved on from Dez Bryant, and Hurns could be the top pass catcher for Dallas in 2018. He'll compete for targets with guys like Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley. Rookie Michael Gallup could also get some playing time this season. Hurns has a current ADP of WR50 (11.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns financial numbers    Fri Mar 23, 01:30 PM

Updating a previous report, impending Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns' two-year contract with the team is expected to be worth $12 million.

Footballguys view: He was due seven million from the Jaguars this year, so it doesn't sound like Hurns took a big pay cut, and he could have a chance to be the team's #1 receiver if they part ways with Dez Bryant.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns agrees to terms with Dallas    Fri Mar 23, 12:49 PM

Free-agent WR Allen Hurns (Jaguars) told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Friday, March 23, he plans on signing with the Dallas Cowboys. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports it will be a two-year deal. Financial terms of the contract have yet to be disclosed.

Footballguys view: Hurns is an instant upgrade from Terrance Williams. The deal is reportedly cheap enough that the team will be able to retain Dez Bryant too. Health has been a problem for Hurns more than ability, so he should be on our late-round radar.

NFL | Two AFC North teams pursuing Allen Hurns    Thu Mar 22, 03:46 PM

Free-agent WR Allen Hurns (Jaguars) is receiving interest from the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns set to meet with Dallas    Tue Mar 20, 08:52 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Allen Hurns (Jaguars) will meet with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, March 21. Hurns had planned on visiting the New York Jets on Wednesday but changed his mind with a snowstorm expected to hit New York.

Footballguys view: That didn't take long. Hurns is a quality no2 WR who could fit in nicely with the Cowboys. If added, he'd be in line to start opposite Dez Bryant. Hurns would give Dak Prescott another quality weapon to throw to.

Free-agent WR Allen Hurns (Jaguars) said he has received interest from the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders and Carolina Panthers.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Hurns is a quality wide receiver and can be a reliable target for any quarterback that gets to throw to him.

Jets | Allen Hurns will visit Jets    Tue Mar 20, 06:38 PM

Free-agent WR Allen Hurns (Jaguars) has a visit scheduled with the New York Jets Wednesday, March 21, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Jets have 13 wide receivers on the roster right now, but hardly any have the experience level of Hurns. He'd bring more than a veteran presence as Hurns would likely start for the Jets if added to the jam-packed WR corps.

Jaguars | Lots more cap space for Jaguars    Tue Mar 20, 02:46 PM

The release of free-agents WR Allen Hurns (Jaguars) and TE Marcedes Lewis (Jaguars) gave the Jacksonville Jaguars $10.5 million more in salary cap space.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars had their plans change in free agency. It was a surprise they picked up the option for Lewis in February then are letting him go in March. That happened because they acquired Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul. These moves save money, but the biggest wave of free agency is done. They currently have $12.5 million in cap space according to OverTheCap.com.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns released    Tue Mar 20, 10:32 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns will be released Tuesday, March 20, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Once the Jaguars signed Donte Moncrief in free agency, the clock was ticking on Hurns. The move saves $7 million against the cap for the Jaguars. Hurns is a solid no2 WR who should have plenty of suitors on the open market. The Jaguars will roll forward with Moncrief, Marqise Lee, Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole as their top wide receivers.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns on the chopping block?    Fri Mar 9, 09:57 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns could be cut this offseason, according to James Koh of the NFL Network.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Hurns signed a five-year, $41 million deal back in 2016 and has failed to produce at a high level since then. Injuries have knocked his career off path as he's been out 11 games over the last two years. The Jaguars would get $7 million in cap space by releasing Hurns.

Jaguars | Marqise Lee on his way out?    Wed Jan 24, 01:48 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars impending free-agent WR Marqise Lee is not expected to be re-signed, in the opinion of Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. Halloran posits that the mostly likely case for Lee being re-signed is if WR Allen Robinson is not retained. Another possibility is that WR Allen Hurns could be released in order to create $7 million more in salary cap space. Lee could also be asked to take a pay cut. However, with WRs Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole contributing well, Lee may be the odd man out.

Footballguys view: Basically what this article is saying is that all things are possible when it comes to Lee and his future with the Jaguars. In a nutshell, if the Jaguars find a way to keep Robinson then Lee is the odd man out. If Robinson moves on, then the team could be more likely to keep Lee...or just move on from him with younger guys like Westbrook or Cole.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns posts six receptions    Sun Jan 21, 06:44 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns finished with six receptions and 80 yards in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Jan. 21.

Footballguys view: Hurns had his best game in months as the Jaguars will have to decide whether to keep him on an overpriced seven million dollar price tag for 2018.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns doesn't show up    Sun Jan 14, 07:11 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns posted just one reception for 12 yards on two targets in the AFC Divisional Round playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Jan. 14.

Footballguys view: Hurns has been mostly a non-factor for the Jaguars despite Allen Robinson going down for the year in Week 1. He might be a cap casualty if the team brings Robinson back this offseason.

Jaguars | Three Jaguars WRs not involved    Sun Jan 7, 04:29 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WRs Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns and Keelan Cole were each targeted one time against the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card playoff game Sunday, Jan. 7, but all three finished with zero receptions. Lee did have one carry for five yards during the game.

Footballguys view: The wind was about 20 MPH in Jacksonville, so QB Blake Bortles had a difficult time connecting on even the simplest passes. They'll need more from Bortles and these WRs in the Divisional Round against the Steelers.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (ankle) was able to practice in limited fashion all week and is listed as questionable for Week 16 versus the San Francisco 49ers. Hurns has not played since Week 10.

Footballguys view: Hurns is probably not worth trusting this week because of his long layoff and admission that he's not 100%, but if he is active, then that takes some of the shine off of Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook as Week 16 sleepers. We'll be following this one right up until game time.
