Footballguys view: Both Cameron Brate and Antony Auclair are banged up right now and may miss Week 10. If Howard can start against the Cardinals on Sunday he would be a TE2 for Fantasy GMs based on his potential and the fact that Arizona's defense gives it up to the tight end position.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard will not be traded at the deadline, according to a source. The organization can also have him under control for two to three more years depending on franchise or transition tags, too.

Footballguys view: Howard is barely rosterable right now, but it is at least encouraging to hear the offensive coordinator say something optimistic about his outlook. He might be on your waiver wire but is only worth adding if you have nothing at tight end.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard will eventually see more targets, according to head coach Bruce Arians, who suggested Tuesday, Sept. 17, that the defense dictates who gets the ball more often than the offense.

Footballguys view: We shall see about that. Arians has never used the tight end much in his offense, but he's never had a tight end like Howard. Right now, Fantasy GMs are in wait-and-see mode.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard drops a goose egg    Fri Sep 13, 12:24 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard was held without a target Thursday, Sept. 12, against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.

Footballguys view: Howard is being kept in to block too often to make any kind of fantasy impact. It is understandable to bench him despite the great matchup against the Giants next week. He might be droppable soon at this rate.

  Buccaneers | O.J. Howard a popular target    Sat Jun 8, 10:31 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard has been targeted by QB Jameis Winston 'on seemingly every possession' during spring practices, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Howard impressed Bruce Arians early in his tenure at Tampa, and he appears to be ready for a breakout season after finishing last year injured. With DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries gone, there are a lot of targets up for grabs, and Howard could get enough of them to knock on the door of "the big three" at tight end.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard has fan in new OC    Sun May 5, 12:51 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (ankle) has a big fan in new offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. 'Man, I've never seen guys like that,' Leftwich said Thursday, May 2, at one of the team's offseason workouts. 'It's hard to be around guys that can do what O.J. can do. He's very - there's not a lot of those human beings walking around on earth. Trust me, because everybody is looking for him. Everybody is looking for the next O.J. Howard. He's a young guy in this process, but what he can do being that big, being able to run it's a matchup nightmare for defenses.'

Footballguys view: Howard was a top-10 fantasy tight end last year, snaring 34 passes for 565 yards and five touchdowns. This season his production could continue to grow. In Arizona, head coach Bruce Arians didn't utilize his tight ends that much. We should see that change in 2019 now that Arians is with the Bucs. First, the game is going to the middle of the field. Second, Howard is a damn good tight end who can move the chains and be a presence in the red zone. His current ADP is TE15 (13.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Buccaneers | Optimism high for O.J. Howard    Fri Apr 12, 03:34 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard is primed to make the Pro Bowl this season, based on recent comments made by teammate Jameis Winston and Chris Godwin.'The sky's the limit really, not even the sky - probably the moon, Why limit him there? This guy, he's incredible. ... I know he's going to have a great season and Lord willing, he's going to stay healthy and make it to the Pro Bowl like he was before he got injured,' Winston said.'O.J., he's a freak, man, he's a freak athlete ... He's massive, he's 6-foot-5, 6-foot-6 and 250 and I think he was running a 4.5. A lot of times he was running faster than some of the receivers. ... He's such an explosive guy and a talented dude that he's going to keep growing. ... I can see him being one of the best in the league,' Godwin said.

Footballguys view: The optimism should be there for Howard because of his natural talent. A Bruce Arians offense usually doesn't feature the tight end position, but the veteran coach might change his mind given Howard's talent. Howard was the no.10 fantasy tight end in 2018 and should finish around the same spot in 2019.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard staying sharp    Thu Mar 21, 09:57 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (ankle) spent time running routes and catching passes from Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Thursday, March 21.

Footballguys view: Howard is poised for a breakout year now that Desean Jackson and Adam Humphries have moved on. He should be drafted as Top 5-7 tight end this year.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard stretching the field    Sat Jan 19, 10:27 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (foot, ankle) was limited to 10 games in 2018, but his 11 receptions of 20-plus yards were the fifth most among tight ends.

Footballguys view: Howard only played in 10 games in 2018 but he finished 13th in the NFL with 565 receiving yards. It's going to be interesting to see how he fits into the plans of new Bucs head coach Bruce Arians. During his time in Arizona, Arians didn't really use the tight end as much as other offenses.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard goes to IR    Tue Nov 20, 04:17 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (foot, ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Footballguys view: That's two years in a row (Howard's only two seasons in the pros) we see Howard end his season on Injured Reserve. He was a TE1 for Fantasy GMs when healthy and should be that once again next season. The Buccaneers turn to Cameron Brate as their top tight end and he's a favorite target of QB Jameis Winston. Keep Brate's name in mind when looking for a cheaper DFS play in Week 12. Season-long Fantasy GMs know that Brate can post TE1 numbers on a weekly basis.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (ankle) reportedly received some 'good news' on his ankle injury Monday, Nov. 19, but will seek a second opinion.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of a 38-35 loss to the New York Giants in Week 11. He had five catches on six targets for 78 yards before exiting.

Footballguys view: Cameron Brate will have some streamer consideration against San Francisco and for any game that Howard is out going forward. If this is a high ankle sprain as feared it will likely be a multi-week absence for Howard.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard out of the game    Sun Nov 18, 03:44 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the Week 11 game and is considered doubtful to return.

Footballguys view: It might be a multi-week high ankle sprain for Howard. Next week against the 49ers seems like a stretch but Howard came back in the early end of his knee injury timeframe earlier this year and looked good. Don't drop him yet, but Cameron Brate is certainly worth a look as an add if you need a tight end.
