Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh catches nine passes Week 10    Sun Nov 15, 08:38 PM

The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh caught nine passes for 165 yards Week 10.

Our view: Houshmandzadeh caught passes all over the field against a soft Arizona secondary. He saw his usual number of underneath targets but showed that he can still get behind defenses on a long sideline route that went for 54 yards. He was also frequently targeted in the red zone, drawing an interference call on one play and narrowly missing a scoring catch on tight coverage on another.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh struggled through injuries this season    Sat Oct 17, 09:58 AM

The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh inferred Friday, Oct. 16, that feeling less than fully healthy is one of the reasons his production is down this season. 'If I was watching myself and I had to cover me, I'd say, 'I can cover this guy.' I didn't like the way I looked,' Houshmandzadeh said. 'I'm feeling pretty good now. I haven't felt like this since probably the opening of training camp. I've had some problems here and there you all don't know about, and I'm just starting to feel better. Now that I'm feeling better, I've got to get my game back to where it needs to be.'

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh wants bigger role in offense    Sat Oct 17, 09:49 AM

The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh said Friday, Oct. 16, he wants to catch more passes within the team's offense. 'I just got to get these coaches to realize, throw me the ball,' Houshmandzadeh said. 'Maybe I've said it too much. I just got to show them now.' Houshmandzadeh has caught 27 passes this season, the fewest receptions he has recorded through five games since 2005.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh catches eight passes in Week 4    Mon Oct 5, 10:55 AM

Bob Condotta, of the Seattle Times, reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh caught eight passes for 103 yards in Week 4, his best output of the season. However, most of Houshmandzadeh's production came late in the game after the outcome had for the most part been decided. 'Man, my catches came in garbage time, so it doesn't matter,' Houshmandzadeh said. 'They weren't meaningful. They weren't when the game was a game. So it doesn't matter.'

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh catches eight passes Week 4    Sun Oct 4, 05:35 PM

The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh had eight receptions for 103 yards Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Our view: Don't get too excited, Housh owners. Like most of the Seahawks offensive productive today, his big gains came in garbage time.

Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora said WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (back) will not practice Wednesday, Sept. 23, but is expected to practice Thursday, Sept. 24, and play in Week 3.

Our view: The Seahawks are going to be very careful with their star receiver, and could limit his practice time in order to keep him fresh for the game.

Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (back) participated in practice Friday, Sept. 18. He is listed as probable for Week 2.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh finds end zone     Sun Aug 30, 12:17 AM

Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh had five catches for 60 yards and one touchdown in the team's preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Aug. 29.

Our view: Houshmandzadeh is clearly on the same page as Matt Hasselbeck, especially in the red zone. As long as the offensive line can keep Hasselbeck healthy, Housh should be in for a very good year, certainly worthy of a pick as your #2 WR.

Seahawks | Hasselbeck, Houshmandzadeh clicking in red zone    Sun Aug 2, 08:08 PM

Clare Farnsworth, of Seahawks.com, reports that Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck and WR TJ Houshmandzadeh are carrying over their great chemistry in the red zone into training camp.

Our view: Hasselbeck has limited upside, but if he can stay healthy, he'll be an excellent fantasy backup, thanks in part to the addition of Housh. Housh is going lower than usual, but he could be a great value if he is the go-to guy inside the 20.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh not happy with his Madden rating    Wed Jul 22, 02:14 AM

The Detroit News reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh is boycotting Madden 10. Houshmandzadeh was the sixth-best rated receiver in the NFC with a 91 rating. 'I'm not playing Madden no more, until they get my rating right,' he said. 'I just looked at the game and they have this wrong and that wrong. And I understand I averaged 10 yards a catch (in 2008), but it's the offense, man, not me.'

Our view: The rating of sixth-best WR in the NFC is actually generous. Housh is not exceptionally fast, quick, big, or athletic. Madden is ranking players in a vacuum, which is unkind to talents like Housh and Hines Ward, who get the job done without top-notch physical tools.

Seahawks | Fans excited about Houshmandzadeh    Thu Jul 16, 04:23 PM

Danny O'Neil, from the Seattle Times, reports that Seahawks fans are really excited about the prospects of WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh in the upcoming season.

Our view: Seahawks fans should be excited about Houshmandzadeh coming to Seattle. Not since the days of Darrell Jackson has Matt Hasselbeck had a legitimate number one wide receiver to throw to. With tight end John Carlson doing his damage underneath, and rookie Deon Butler wowing from the slot, it means that defenses won't be able to solely concentrate on Housh when the Seahawks are passing the ball. His current ADP is WR15 and we anticipate that he'll have around 80 receptions for near 1,000 yards and 6-8 TDs in 2009.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh guarantees playoffs     Mon Jun 29, 12:24 PM

Greg Johns, of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh said during an interview with the Sporting News that the team will make the playoffs this season. Houshmandzadeh also predicted Pro Bowl nominations for himself and QB Matt Hasselbeck. 'I just want to let everyone know that Matt Hasselbeck and I will be leading the Seahawks to the playoffs this season,' Houshmandzadeh said. 'And we'll be going to the Pro Bowl as a tandem. We're both going to have top five seasons: He'll have a top five quarterback season, and I'll have a top five receiving season. I'll put up stats I've never had before yards-wise because they're allowing me to be a complete receiver.'

Our view: Easy there Houshyourmamma. It's great to have this type of confidence as we enter the season, and it's much better than hearing "we're not going anywhere" but too often these "guarantees" collapse in glorious fashion. That being said, there is a good chance that Seattle could make it back to the postseason because of the division they play in. The 49ers and Rams may have okay seasons, but are far from ready for a playoff push. The Cardinals won the conference title last year but had to get hot at the end of the year to do so. If Matt Hasselbeck can stay upright the Seahawks have a good chance of being at least 8-8 in 2009. That kind of record could win them the division and have them playoff bound.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh makes lofty predictions    Fri Jun 26, 02:07 PM

Mike Florio, of profootballtalk.com, reports that TJ Houshmandzadeh made some lofty predictions in the latest issue of Sporting News, including a playoff appearance by the Seahawks, top five statistical seasons from him and QB Matt Hasselbeck, and a Pro Bowl appearance by both players.

Our view: This is the same guy that called out Joey Porter and shined his shoes with a Terrible Towel back in 2006. We all see how that turned out. It's good for a player to have confidence in his abilities, but this kind of talk just get opponents fired up to face Houshmandzadeh so they can shut him up.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh picked up the offense quickly    Sun Jun 21, 09:15 PM

Eric Williams, from the Tacoma News Tribune, states Houshmandzadeh has picked up the offense well, and developed some chemistry with Hasselbeck.

Our view: This is great news not only for Seattle fans, but most importantly for QB Matt Hasselbeck. Adding a talented receiver like Houshmandzadeh can only help Hasselbeck, who is trying to come back from an injury plagued 2008. Not since the days of Darrell Jackson has Seattle had a legitimate #1 receiver, and Housh will team with TE John Carlson and rookie WR Deon Butler to give Seattle a potent air attack.

Seahawks | Several field punts Wednesday    Thu Jun 11, 01:19 PM

Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks WRs Deon Butler, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Ben Obomanu as well as RB Justin Forsett fielded punts during practice Wednesday, June 10.

Our view: Deon Butler has been impressing coaches with his receiving skills, and could push for the starting slot position. Players like Obomanu and Forsett could help their chances of making the final roster by proving to be good punt returners.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh has high hopes for season    Wed May 13, 09:46 AM

Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports Seattle Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh said during a radio interview that he believes 2009 could be a special season for the team. 'We're going to be good,' Houshmandzadeh said. 'Real good. Everybody stays healthy, ah man. We're going to be something special. The talent we have on this team and then coach Mora brings everything together just right. Cool dude. Not because I just got there, but everything I've seen from Jim Mora has showed me that we're going to be really good just the way he relates to the players... They didn't put us on TV so when we start running through everybody like a wet paper bag, don't flex us in late in the season when we're the best. Don't flex us in, we'll have our coming-out party in the playoffs.'

Our view: The Seahawks haven't had a legitimate #1 WR since the days of Darrell Jackson. The passing game should be much improved so long as Matt Hasselbeck can stay healthy in 2009. If Deion Branch and Nate Burleson can stay healthy it will help keep defenses honest. The addition of Deon Butler could pay immediate dividends for the team, and TE John Carlson should be able to take advantage over the middle of the field.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh showing great chemistry with Hasselbeck    Sun May 3, 04:10 PM

Danny O'Neil from the Seattle Times writes that QB Matt Hasselbeck and his new WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh have been showing great chemistry in the Seahawks recent mini-camp.

Our view: The Seahawks haven't had a true #1 WR since the days of Darrell Jackson. The note about them looking good together in red zone drills is especially interesting. John Carlson and Houshmandzadeh will both make great red zone options for Matt Hasselbeck.

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh will be moved around    Tue Apr 14, 10:12 AM

Eric Williams, of The News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said during a local radio interview that when the team lines up in three-receiver sets WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh will not always line up in the slot. Knapp said he will focus on moving Houshmandzadeh, WR Nate Burleson and WR Deion Branch around so the Seahawks are less predictable in that formation.
