Vikings | Sam Bradford expected to start Thu Sep 15, 11:15 AM
Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford is expected to start in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers. Bradford has been adept at learning the offense, and head coach Mike Zimmer may not announce it or inform the team because the news came out that QB Shaun Hill would start last week.
Footballguys view: After the blanket of mediocrity that was Shaun Hill, we knew this was coming. If he knew one play and that play was "hey Diggs, run to the fire hydrant and turn in," that would still be an improvement over Hill. We still wouldn't have coughed up a first for him, but now that they have him, Bradford should be the guy. That said, we wouldn't go near him this week--even if the Packers don't blast him, his playbook is going to be limited. |

Vikings | Shaun Hill doesn't work with top unit Thu Sep 15, 12:26 AM
Minnesota Vikings QB Shaun Hill did not take first-team reps with the team in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14. QB Sam Bradford took all of the first-team snaps at practice.
Footballguys view: Hill held on for a game, but we saw why the Vikings pulled the trigger on the Bradford trade. They overpaid, but staying with Hill all season was risky for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. |

Vikings | Minnesota QB undecided for Week 2 Mon Sep 12, 01:52 AM
Minnesota Vikings QB Shaun Hill started and was able to pick up the win in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. However, head coach Mike Zimmer said coaches will huddle before deciding whether Hill or QB Sam Bradford will start in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers.
Footballguys view: We'd be shocked if Bradford isn't named the starter for the Vikings in Week 2. The team debuts their new stadium on Sunday Night Football against the Packers. |

Minnesota Vikings QB Shaun Hill is expected to be the starting quarterback for Week 1, according to sources. The team has not announced if Hill or QB Sam Bradford will start the game.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QBs Sam Bradford and Shaun Hill will both receive first-team repetitions in practice this week. Head coach Mike Zimmer has not officially named a starter for Week 1 yet.
Footballguys view: The team made a big move to add Bradford, but they won't start him if he's not ready. We're monitoring this for Week 1, but don't expect much from the Vikings passing game early on if/when Bradford is at the helm. |

Minnesota Vikings QB Shaun Hill likely will be the starting quarterback Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans since QB Sam Bradford will only start practicing with the Vikings this week. Bradford may be ready to take over the starting job in Week 2.
Footballguys view: That's not entirely shocking given the fact that Bradford was just picked up. They'll try to shorten his learning curve as much as possible so Bradford can start in Week 2. |

Vikings | Shaun Hill could be Week 10 sleeper Wed Nov 11, 01:59 AM
Minnesota Vikings QB Shaun Hill might be a sleeper in Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders if he is forced into action for the injured QB Teddy Bridgewater. The Raiders are last in the NFL in passing defense, allowing 314.6 yards per game with 35 pass plays of 20 or more yards.
Footballguys view: The Vikings pass offense is very conservative, and going from Bridgewater to Hill won't change that. If their defense gives up some big plays early and puts them behind by more than a score, the offense could open up. Still, Stefon Diggs is the only part of this passing game that you should look at this week. |

Rams | Austin Davis benched Wed Nov 12, 10:59 AM
St. Louis Rams QB Austin Davis has been benched, and QB Shaun Hill will start in Week 11 Sunday, Nov. 16.

Rams | Shaun Hill to start Wed Nov 12, 10:58 AM

Rams | Limited practice for Shaun Hill Wed Sep 17, 05:35 PM
St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (thigh) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Footballguys view: Hill may not be able to play again this week. If not, then the team will continue to feature Austin Davis as their starter. Davis plays within the offense, but he doesn't exactly fill the air with footballs. This limits the fantasy value of those in the Rams passing game. |

Rams | Shaun Hill is the starter Mon Sep 15, 02:43 AM
St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (thigh) will return to the starting role when healthy, according to Rams coach Jeff Fisher. QB Austin Davis has filled in for the past two weeks.
Footballguys view: Davis didn't look terrible in Week 2. Brian Quick's fantasy owners are certainly happy with the way Davis kept feeding their player the rock. Fantasy owners in deep dynasty leagues should be encouraged by Davis' play, but he's still only a decent backup option and not some diamond in the rough. |

St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (thigh) will travel with the team for their Week 2 game, but he is still considered questionable at this point. QB Austin Davis likely would start if Hill is not able to play.
Footballguys view: Hill didn't look fantastic in the brief moments he played, so we aren't sure how effective he will be against a Tampa Bay defense that let backup Derek Anderson (Panthers) go 24/34 for 221 net yards, two TDs and zero interceptions. We'd avoid both him and Davis this weekend. |

Rams | No QB controversy for Rams Mon Sep 8, 07:42 PM
St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (quadriceps) was removed from the game in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings due to a strained left quadriceps and not because of his poor performance, head coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Monday, Sept. 8. Hill went 8-for-13 for 81 yards and an interception before departing late in the first quarter. Hill did not return to the game because it was decided that he could only make his injury worse by playing.
Footballguys view: When the switch at quarterback was made, there was a bit of confusion among those covering the team. It sounds like things are much more concrete than some feared. Fisher said that if Hill is healthy, there is no quarterback controversy. |

Rams | Shaun Hill a long shot to play Mon Sep 8, 05:16 PM
Updating a previous item, St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (quadriceps) is 'a long shot' to play in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after undergoing an MRI exam on his strained quadriceps Monday, Sept. 8. The team will have a better idea on his status by Wednesday, Sept. 10, or Thursday, Sept. 11. Hill went 8-for-13 for 81 yards and an interception in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings before being injured.
Footballguys view: The Rams offense looks pretty inept, regardless of the QB situation (thanks Brian Schottenheimer!). Fantasy owners need to look elsewhere for value plays. |

Rams | Shaun Hill may not play Mon Sep 8, 02:11 PM
St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (quadriceps) may not play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, Sept. 14, as he has a strained quadriceps.
Footballguys view: Looks like it could be another week of Austin Davis. Fantasy owners want to avoid members of the Rams offense with Davis under center. Even backs like Zac Stacy or Benny Cunningham will be negatively impacted by the inexperienced quarterback. There's a chance that Case Keenum could take over as the starter as well. |

Rams | Austin Davis finishes up Sun Sep 7, 10:07 PM
St. Louis Rams QB Austin Davis completed 16 of 23 passes for 192 yards and an interception in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, coming on for the injured QB Shaun Hill (quadriceps).
Footballguys view: Davis was functional, perhaps even better than Kellen Clemens was last year, but this is not something the Rams wanted to be dealing with. The whole offense is already stunted by offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Next week brings a Bucs defense that gave up some plays to Derek Anderson today, so maybe there's hope. |

Rams | Shaun Hill leaves early Sun Sep 7, 03:05 PM
St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (thigh) left the game early Week 1 because of a thigh injury and is considered questionable to return.
Footballguys view: Some reports had this as a coaches decision, so we're not 100% sure that this isn't cover for the coaches pulling a quarterback they had little confidence in. Either way, the Rams offense seems to be right back where it was last year. Other than a lead back (if one emerges) there is little fantasy value in this offense. |

Rams | Shaun Hill is the starter Tue Aug 26, 11:08 AM
St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill will remain the starter, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. Recent speculation placed the Rams the center of trade talks for a new quarterback, but Fisher said the team is committed to Hill.
Footballguys view: Hill is one of the better backups in the league and should keep the Rams offense on track to be the run-heavy/ball security unit they were when Sam Bradford went down last year. His arm isn't going to get Kenny Britt's highwire act back on the air, but otherwise, he'll be very functional. |

Rams | Shaun Hill takes over Sun Aug 24, 06:40 PM
St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill will take over as the starting quarterback for the team, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.
Footballguys view: This team once lost Trent Green in the preseason and turned things over to an unknown in Kurt Warner. That team went on to win Super Bowl 34. The Rams have a world-class defense, but their offense isn't anywhere near what the "Greatest Show on Turf" was. Hill has plenty of experience and is one of the best--if not the best--backup quarterback in the league. Losing Bradford sucks, but it's far from a catastrophe. |

Rams | Sam Bradford out for season Sun Aug 24, 04:10 PM
St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (knee) is out for the season after an MRI revealed a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.
Footballguys view: A brutal blow for both the Rams and Bradford. While he's under contract for both 2014 and 2015, it's hard to imagine the team holds onto him. They will likely move on after this year. Shaun Hill is Bradford's replacement, a good caretaker but not anyone we'd trust as a fantasy backup. The passing offense takes a little hit, but you can expect to see a ton of Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason going forward. Perhaps the Rams trade for another backup or starter but even then it would take a long time to catch up to speed this late in the preseason. This is a QB situation which you should stay away from this year. |

NFL | Veteran-heavy 2015 UFA QB class Sun Jun 15, 12:26 PM
The NFL's scheduled unrestricted free-agent quarterback class for 2015 features 14 players who will be at least 30 years of age, including Indianapolis Colts QB Matt Hasselbeck (39), St. Louis Rams QB Shaun Hill (35), Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (35), New York Jets QB Michael Vick (34), Cincinnati Bengals QB Jason Campbell (33), New Orleans Saints QB Luke McCown (33), Seattle Seahawks QB Tarvaris Jackson (32), Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (31), Oakland Raiders QB Trent Edwards (31), Chicago Bears QB Jordan Palmer (31), Detroit Lions QB Dan Orlovsky (31), Cleveland Browns QB Tyler Thigpen (31) and Miami Dolphins QB Matt Moore (30). Estranged Dallas Cowboys QB Kyle Orton (32) is also scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, although he is reportedly leaning toward retirement.
Footballguys view: Any team looking for a solid veteran backup will have plenty to choose from. The only one of this list who could still be an effective starter is Carson Palmer. We'll see if Arizona tries to sign him to a new deal if he impresses in 2014. |

Lions | May pick up QB in draft Mon May 5, 01:04 AM
The Detroit Lions will likely turn to the NFL Draft to fill the backup spot at quarterback vacated by Shaun Hill when he signed with the St. Louis Rams. Options mentioned include San Jose State QB David Fales and Clemson QB Tajh Boyd.
Footballguys view: It will be interesting to see how the Lions approach the backup quarterback situation. Right now, Dan Orlovsky is the primary backup behind Matthew Stafford. Kellen Moore is their third quarterback, but he has yet to show much as a developmental prospect. Fales has a weak arm, but he's smart and accurate on short throws. Boyd has a strong arm and nice athleticism, but he struggles with accuracy and consistency. |
