Raiders | Waive Robert Herron    Thu May 26, 05:36 PM

Oakland Raiders WR Robert Herron was waived Thursday, May 26.

Footballguys view: Herron has been cut from two teams in two years, he's got a slot receiver build despite more frequently being asked to go deep in college. He's never found a role that fit at the pro level though.

Raiders | Sign two wide receivers    Tue May 24, 02:07 PM

Free-agent WRs Robert Herron (Dolphins) and Nathan Palmer (Bears) were signed by the Oakland Raiders Tuesday, May 24.

Footballguys view: Herron is the player to watch here in super deep dynasty leagues. He's a sharp route-runner who has spent time with the Bucs and the Dolphins. Both are competing for a spot on the depth chart behind Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.

Dolphins | Sign Robert Herron    Tue Oct 13, 06:12 PM

Free-agent WR Robert Herron (Buccaneers) was signed by the Miami Dolphins Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Footballguys view: Herron is a lightning quick slot receiver who can get open on underneath routes. He failed to impress with the Buccaneers, but in super super deep dynasty leagues we're monitoring his progress.

Buccaneers | Robert Herron waived    Tue Sep 1, 04:29 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Robert Herron was waived Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Footballguys view: The slot receiver just didn't impress during his time with the Buccaneers. We like his ability to run routes, but Herron always had to "warm up" before showing consistent hands as a receiver. In games (and during the week of practice at the Senior Bowl), Herron would drop some easy passes early--then he would catch nearly everything late. With his speed and quickness, we imagine that Herron will find a spot with another team.

Buccaneers | Robert Herron injury not serious    Sat Aug 9, 03:42 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Robert Herron's (shoulder) injury suffered Friday, Aug. 8, against the Jacksonville Jaguars does not appear to be serious, according to head coach Lovie Smith.

Footballguys view: Herron is trying to make his way onto the final roster after the Bucs added him in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft. We like Herron's speed and ability to release off the line of scrimmage in multiple different ways.

Buccaneers | Three to compete for No. 3 wide receiver job    Wed Jul 23, 05:52 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Robert Herron, WR Louis Murphy and WR Chris Owusu will all compete for the No. 3 WR job, according to general manager Jason Licht.

Footballguys view: Murphy has the experience edge here, but we can't wait to see rookie Robert Herron. The speedy prospect from Wyoming has multiple moves to get free at the line of scrimmage. Once into his route, Herron can make cuts at speed without losing momentum. He's a dangerous weapon with the ball in his hands.

Buccaneers | Wide receiver corps slowly taking shape    Mon Jul 7, 10:06 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson and WR Mike Evans are expected to open the year as the starters, and WR Robert Herron, WR Chris Owusu and WR Louis Murphy are the frontrunners for the remaining spots, according to Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com. Smith also tabbed WR David Gettis as a player that could surprise and make the 53-man roster.

Footballguys view: The Bucs addressed the massive hole at their #2 WR spot after trading away Mike Williams, but they are still very thin at the position after that. The tight end should play a nice-sized role in the passing game, which means that Brandon Myers or rookie Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be good waiver pickups early in the season if they pan out.

Buccaneers | Robert Herron flashes athletic ability    Sat Jun 28, 04:34 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Robert Herron has made several standout plays in OTAs and minicamp practices. He displayed good body control and concentration on several leaping catches. He has worked with wide receiver coach Andrew Hayes-Stoker on releasing from the line of scrimmage and could make an impact in the future.

Footballguys view: Herron is incredibly fast, and his game has drawn some Marvin Harrison comparisons. Like Harrison, Herron is ultra quick and has multiple moves to get off the line of scrimmage. He needs to work on his route running and consistency in order to play up to his potential. Herron could eventually be a fine slot receiver behind Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans.

Buccaneers | Chris Owusu, Louis Murphy battling for No. 3 job    Fri Jun 20, 04:22 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Chris Owusu and Louis Murphy have looked good in the team's offseason workouts as they battle for the No. 3 wide receiver job. The team also has high hopes for WR Robert Herron.

Footballguys view: Herron may be the player to watch here. His near 4.2 speed will come in handy before and after the catch. Herron also has multiple moves to get off the line of scrimmage. This means jamming him at the snap is difficult. We'll see a conservative offense for the most part from Tampa, but watch Herron in dynasty leagues.

Buccaneers | Three rookies may be punt return options    Sun May 18, 11:17 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims, WR Robert Herron and WR Solomon Patton are expected to be candidates for the punt return job this upcoming season.

Footballguys view: Any one of those three would be fine returners. Herron has 4.3 speed and can change directions without losing much speed. Patton is more quick than fast, but he has ankle-breaking moves in the open field.

Buccaneers | Robert Herron has mixed results    Sat May 17, 04:20 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Robert Herron struggled catching the ball Friday, May 16, but had a better day Saturday, May 17. He and RB Charles Sims were used as kick returners, which is an area the team needs help in, according to head coach Lovie Smith.

Footballguys view: Herron is an interesting player for fantasy owners to watch. He's got speed to burn (4.3 40-yard dash), and he can get off the line of scrimmage in multiple ways. Herron is known as a gamer who can take over a game, and he should work well as the team's slot receiver with outside stars like Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed rookie WR Robert Herron Friday, May 16. Per NFL policy, Herron's deal will be a four-year pact. Financial terms were undisclosed.

Footballguys view: We love the pick of Herron. He's incredibly fast, clocking in at 4.3 40-yard dash at Wyoming's pro day. He'll compete for the slot receiver role behind outside starters Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans.

Footballguys view: Herron is an extremely fast player who can play outside at 'X' receiver or inside at the slot. He can get off the line of scrimmage in many different ways, and he explodes out of his cut. Herron is going to be a great value pick in the second or third round.

Dolphins | Meeting with Robert Herron    Tue Apr 29, 12:45 PM

The Miami Dolphins are visiting with Wyoming WR Robert Herron Tuedsay, April 29, and Wednesday, April 30.

Footballguys view: Herron's game is all about speed, speed and more speed. He's fast, but he also can release cleanly (and in a number of different ways) off the line of scrimmage. He'll be a value in the third round of the draft.

Panthers | Meeting with Robert Herron    Mon Apr 14, 06:08 PM

The Carolina Panthers are visiting with Wyoming WR Robert Herron Monday, April 14. The team worked him out back on April 3.

Footballguys view: Herron plays a lot like a younger version of former Panthers great Steve Smith. He's a fast player (4.3 40-yard dash) who disguises routes well. Herron can get release off the line of scrimmage in many different ways, and he'll quickly get into his route. He should go off the board in the second or third round.

Saints | Visit with Robert Herron    Thu Apr 10, 02:50 PM

The New Orleans Saints are visiting with Wyoming WR Robert Herron Thursday, April. 10.

Footballguys view: The Saints are always looking for bargains at the wide receiver position. Herron has great straight-line speed and but also has the tenacity to go across the middle. He could be a nice pick for the Saints and a good fit for Drew Brees' offense.

Panthers | Will work out two Wyoming prospects    Wed Apr 2, 01:05 PM

The Carolina Panthers are scheduled to work out Wyoming QB Brett Smith and WR Robert Herron Thursday, April 3.

Footballguys view: Both of these players would be fine additions for the Panthers. Herron has a lot of Steve Smith (Ravens) to his game. He's a smaller receiver, but he's ultra fast, feisty and tough. The Panthers need WR help, and Herron would be a nice second-round pick. Smith has better athleticism than Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M) and is an intriguing developmental prospect for any team looking for QB help in the mid-to-late rounds.

Browns | Have talked to Robert Herron     Fri Feb 21, 02:13 PM

The Cleveland Browns have met with Wyoming WR Robert Herron at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: Herron is a mid-round sleeper receiver who many in the scouting community love. He can get off the line of scrimmage in many different ways, and Herron has the ability to make insane catches seem routine. The Browns could use more weapons in the passing game behind Josh Gordon. Herron can play outside or in the slot.
