Bears | Khalil Herbert leads backfield in return    Tue Nov 21, 12:55 PM

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert played 32 of the team's 75 offensive snaps in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions, leading the team's running backs at 43 percent of the plays.

Footballguys view: Herbert rushed 16 times for 35 yards in the Bears' Week 11 loss to the Lions. It's not a great line for Fantasy GMs, but looking at his snap share upon his return in Week 11 you can see the Bears prefer him to be the lead back. As he gets back to full speed, Herbert should be doing more for the Bears and Fantasy GMs who start him as a flex play with RB2 potential.

Bears | Khalil Herbert activated    Sat Nov 18, 02:22 PM

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) was activated off injured reserve on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Footballguys view: Herbert has been out of action since Week 5. Before the injury, Herbert was the Bears' lead back and a regular starter for Fantasy GMs. This week, the Bears might ease Herbert back into action. That means D'Onta Foreman could be splitting time in what could be a near-even split in Week 11.

Bears | Khalil Herbert back from IR    Fri Nov 17, 03:03 PM

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list on Friday, Nov. 17.

Footballguys view: Herbert is a what-the-heck flex with upside, although since he went down, the Bears have learned that they have a lot more in D'Onta Foreman than they thought they had when they made their free agent pickup a healthy scratch.

Bears | Khalil Herbert a 'DNP' Wednesday    Wed Oct 11, 03:23 PM

Footballguys view: No surprise here. A few days ago, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Herbert is expected to miss "multiple weeks." With Roschon Johnson coming back from a concussion (and not yet being cleared) the Bears could go with D'Onta Foreman as their starter in Week 6.

Bears | Khalil Herbert could miss multiple weeks    Sun Oct 8, 09:51 AM

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) is likely to be sidelined for multiple weeks because of the ankle injury sustained during Week 5's game versus the Washington Commanders, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: Roschon Johnson left Thursday's game with a concussion, so we'll see if he's ready for the Week 6 game against the Vikings. D'Onta Foreman will have a large role either way and is probably worth a wavier wire pickup with the Bears offense revived in the last two weeks. Travis Homer also went down last week with a hamstring injury, so Darrynton Evans was also signed off of the Dolphins practice squad to play a role on passing downs and possible serve as the #2 back next week if Johnson can't go.

Bears | Ankle injury for Khalil Herbert    Fri Oct 6, 12:28 AM

Updating previous reports, Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) suffered an ankle injury against the Washington Commanders on Thursday, Oct. 5. He did briefly return to the game but was later replaced by Khari Blasingame. Herbert finished with 76 yards on 10 carries. He was targeted three times but did not register a reception.

Footballguys view: Herbert has taken control of this backfield with strong and explosive running. We'll be watching his practice reports closely, but hopefully the three extra days of rest will allow him to be ready for the matchup with Minnesota next week.

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert rushed 18 times for a game-high 103 yards in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos, while adding four receptions for 19 yards and a score on five targets.

Footballguys view: There was buzz that Roschon Johnson's role was going to grow in this game, but Herbert roared back into the lead back role with a strong all-around day as the Bears offense finally came to life. He'll be a flex play against the Commanders next week.

Bears | Khalil Herbert puts ball on the ground    Sun Sep 24, 09:46 PM

Bears | Khalil Herbert leads the backfield    Sun Sep 17, 04:14 PM

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert rushed seven times for a team-best 35 yards in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he added a single 23-yard grab on three targets.

Footballguys view: Herbert had one less back to compete with for touches with D'Onta Foreman inactive, but it didn't matter even though he had some decent gains against a stout Bucs run defense. Herbert looks like bye/injury/emergency bench depth at this point and isn't an essential hold heading into a game at Kansas City.

Bears | Khalil Herbert more than just a big-play runner    Wed Jul 5, 12:23 AM

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert averaged a broken tackle every 14.3 carries in 2022 - good for 11th among all qualified running backs - according to Pro Football Reference.

Footballguys view: Herbert is going first of the Bears running backs, as he should be, but all three are usually available in the second half of drafts because of the uncertainty about how the work will be divvied up. It could be a hot hand backfield, or one that varies depending on game script, but if one back is going to run away with the lead role, it is most likely Herbert, because he has mostly excelled when given a chance to carry the load.

Bears | Khalil Herbert is RB1 for now    Sat May 6, 03:27 PM

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert will start the offseason at the top of the depth chart but there will be a competition throughout the offseason, Bears assistant coach David Walker said on Saturday, May 6.

Footballguys view: Herbert is the incumbent, but the Bears have other backs who can work their way into the rotation. D'Onta Foreman is a power back who can win on early downs, and we love rookie RB Roschon Johnson as a sleeper prospect in dynasty formats. We'll get a better idea of this potential RBBC in training camp. Oh yeah, QB Justin Fields should eat up rushing yards once again in 2023.

Chicago Bears RB Khalil Herbert rushed 10 times for a team-high 50 yards in Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings, while adding a catch for minus-1 yard on two targets.
