Chargers | Justin Herbert lands on IR Tue Dec 12, 02:31 PM
Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a broken right index finger on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Footballguys view: Herbert's 2023 season comes to a close with an injury to his throwing hand suffered against the Broncos on Sunday. As a 65.1 percent passer this season, Herbert threw for 3,134 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. When WR Mike Williams went down, Herbert's downfield threat was gone and not replaced. The Chargers need a new coaching staff, and they need one that will get the most out of the rocket-armed quarterback (*cough*downfield*cough*). |

Chargers | Justin Herbert out for season Tue Dec 12, 08:15 AM
Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) will miss the rest of the season after surgery to repair a broken right index finger.
Footballguys view: This is the right call. The Chargers are out of it, and HC Brandon Staley is likely to be fired as soon as the season is over. That means Herbert will be back next year likely with a new staff around him. The Chargers have a superstar quarterback, and they need to do everything they can to set Herbert up for success. For the rest of this season, Easton Stick (who looked okay against the Broncos on Sunday) takes over as the starter. |

Chargers | Justin Herbert likely out next week Mon Dec 11, 11:10 AM
Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) is likely out for Week 15 Thursday, Dec. 14.
Footballguys view: Herbert's injury may be season-ending, but that has not been determined yet. He's got a fractured finger on his throwing hand, and the Chargers aren't going anywhere this season. Perhaps it would be best to shut him down, but further examinations will be done. For now, Easton Stick gets to start for the Chargers while Herbert is banged up. |

Chargers | Justin Herbert done for the afternoon Sun Dec 10, 06:08 PM
Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) has been downgraded from questionable to out for the rest of the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos due to a finger injury on his throwing hand. Chargers | Justin Herbert leaves with finger issue Sun Dec 10, 05:38 PM
Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) left the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos due to an index finger injury, and he jogged off to the locker room for treatment.
Footballguys view: The Chargers offense is running out of gas, and this injury will accelerate their decline. Herbert won't return, and who knows when he'll play next. There's no reason for the Chargers to push Herbert to play through an injury with the season lost and a head coach search starting soon. Easton Stick is in and he could start next week against the Raiders. |

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert went 21-for-36 for 260 yards and two touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11. He also rushed for 73 yards on eight carries during the game.
Footballguys view: Herbert did everything in his power to get the Chargers over the top, but Quentin Johnston dropped a perfect deep ball that could have set them up to tie or win the game. Herbert has been an improved fantasy quarterback this season, but the Chargers are still finding new ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with the tough Ravens defense up next. |

Chargers | Justin Herbert has broken finger Mon Oct 2, 10:40 AM
Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (finger) suffered a fractured finger on his left, non-throwing hand and also a 'gruesome' injury to the fingernail.
