Lions | Secondary fleshing itself out    Wed Jul 29, 03:34 AM

John Niyo, of The Detroit News, reports Detroit Lions rookie S Louis Delmas emerged as a vocal leader in the defense during the summer and appears to be locked in at one safety spot. The other figures to have plenty of competition in training camp, as Kalvin Pearson, Marquand Manuel and Daniel Bullocks could be in the mix. At cornerback, it appears Anthony Henry and Phillip Buchanon will be the starting pair. CB Eric King is likely to battle for the top nickel back role, while Keith Smith will challenge him.

Footballguys view: The strong safety battle could yield one of the best IDP deep sleepers, so it merits watching.

Lions | Could Henry move to safety?    Wed Jul 8, 11:41 AM

Tom Kowalski, of Mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions CB Anthony Henry could be moved from cornerback to safety at some point during training camp if FS Daniel Bullocks fails to impress the coaching staff.

Footballguys view: Henry is an eight-year veteran that played his first four seasons in Cleveland before spending the last four seasons in Dallas. He went to the Cowboys as a cornerback, but was being transitioned to safety and was expected to be the starting free safety in Dallas before being traded to Detroit for QB Jon Kitna. He's not as fast as he used to be but because he's a crafty veteran the Lions feel they can play him at either position.
