Vikings | Minnesota claims De'Angelo Henderson    Wed Jul 24, 04:28 PM

Former New York Jets RB De'Angelo Henderson was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Vikings Wednesday, July 24, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Henderson has some history with Gary Kubiak and Rick Dennison and the Vikings just released Roc Thomas, so this makes sense. He's still unlikely to make the final roster.

Jets | De'Angelo Henderson gets the axe    Tue Jul 23, 10:38 AM

New York Jets RB De'Angelo Henderson was waived Tuesday, July 23.

Footballguys view: Henderson was a sixth-round pick of the Broncos out of Coastal Carolina in the 2017 NFL draft. He landed with the Jets last year but only appeared in one game. Henderson is a compact runner with a low center of gravity when running between the tackles. The Jets are jam-packed at the position with Le'Veon Bell, Ty Montgomery, Eli McGuire and Trenton Cannon. Henderson might be able to latch on with another team.

Jets | De'Angelo Henderson pushing for time    Wed Jul 10, 10:48 PM

New York Jets RB De'Angelo Henderson worked ahead of RB Trenton Cannon during OTAs and began to share reps with RB Elijah McGuire.

Footballguys view: Henderson has a low center of gravity and can run inside better than some think. We'll see if he can beat out Cannon for perhaps the final spot in the RB depth chart. The Jets are stacked at the position with Le'Veon Bell, Eli McGuire, Ty Montgomery and Bilal Powell (in addition to Henderson and Cannon). We'll see this pecking order behind Bell established in the preseason.

Jets | De'Angelo Henderson signs tender    Tue Apr 2, 02:51 PM

New York Jets exclusive-rights free agent RB De'Angelo Henderson signed his tender Tuesday, April 2.

Footballguys view: The Jets have Le'Veon Bell to be their lead back in 2019. Behind him, they will see guys like Henderson, Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon compete for the pecking order at the running back position. Henderson is likely fourth on that list.

Jets | De'Angelo Henderson added to active roster    Sat Oct 27, 01:33 PM

New York Jets practice squad RB De'Angelo Henderson was signed to the 53-man roster Saturday, Oct. 27, according to sources. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Henderson, a sixth-round pick of the Broncos in 2017, didn't do much as a rookie in Denver. He failed to make the 53-man roster for the Broncos this summer and was promptly scooped up by the Jets and put on their practice squad. The Coastal Carolina back has a compact running style, good burst and vision to make defenders miss in the open field. We'll see if he can push Trenton Cannon for the backup spot to Isaiah Crowell.

Free-agent RB De'Angelo Henderson (Broncos) was signed to the New York Jets practice squad Sunday, Sept. 2.

TE Troy Fumagalli (undisclosed) and LB Jerrol Garcia-Williams (knee) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list, while WR Jordan Taylor (hip) was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson leads team in rushing    Fri Aug 31, 02:32 AM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson carried the ball 11 times for a time-high 53 yards, adding three catches for 17 yards against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, Aug. 30. Henderson figures to make the team as the No. 4 RB, in the opinion of ESPN's Jeff Legwold.

Footballguys view: Henderson is probably better than Devontae Booker and would be a candidate to be claimed if the Broncos released him. This could be an Alex Collins situation if they are foolish enough to do it.

Broncos | RB job wide open in Denver    Sun Jul 29, 03:19 PM

Denver Broncos RBs Royce Freeman, Devontae Booker, De'Angelo Henderson and Phillip Lindsay all received first-team reps Sunday, July 29, prompting Lindsay H. Jones of USA TODAY Sports to say the 'running back job is totally open.'

Footballguys view: Lindsay is drawing a lot of praise as a receiver, but he has to keep the momentum going when the intensity turns up later this summer. This isn't going to be one of the most productive backfields in the league and will include 2-3 backs every week, but all of the Broncos backs are modestly priced when looking at their range of outcomes. They have a place in draft plans.

  Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson says he's healthy    Tue Jul 24, 04:54 AM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson (oblique) declared himself 'healthy now and ready to go' for the start of training camp. He also admitted that he 'probably' came back too quickly from the car accident that led to his injury and dealt with the aftereffects for 'several weeks.'

Footballguys view: Henderson is trying to make a case to make the 53-man roster and he's certainly no lock. He did next to nothing last year except for a score on a screen pass in a meaningless Week 17 game against the Chiefs. The Broncos have Devontae Booker and rookie Royce Freeman as the top two backs on the depth chart. Those two will battle in training camp to be the starter. Henderson will try to impress as a change-of-pace back.

Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson still limited    Tue Jun 12, 05:29 AM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson (oblique) was held out of team repetitions Monday, June 11, due to a strained oblique muscle but he still participated 'as well as he could,' jogging through routes on the sideline during some snaps to mimic the role he would have if he was in action.

Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson remains sidelined    Wed Jun 6, 06:22 PM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson (obqlique) was once again held out of organized team activities Wednesday, June 6, due to a slight oblique strain.

Footballguys view: Henderson has been getting some first-team reps for the Broncos in OTAs a week or so ago. He's a compact back who can make defenders miss in the open field. Henderson was inactive for most of his rookie season in 2017, but this year he's vying for a larger role. Rookie Royce Freeman and third-year pro Devontae Booker are likely the lead backs for the Broncos in 2018.

Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson misses practice    Mon Jun 4, 02:49 PM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson (oblique) did not participate in organized team activities Monday, June 4, because of a slight oblique strain.

Footballguys view: Henderson was getting some first-team reps in OTAs. A compact back (5'7" 208 pounds), Henderson didn't do much as a rookie as he was inactive for most of the season. Royce Freeman and Devontae Booker are likely the top two backs to compete for the starting job in 2018 but Henderson is a bit of a sleeper to keep an eye on in the preseason.

Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson involved in accident    Mon May 14, 03:17 PM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson (undisclosed) was hospitalized with minor injuries Monday, May 14, after being an accident victim in a high-speed police chase. He is present at the team facility and will be ready for organized team activities next week.

Footballguys view: Thank goodness Henderson was able to walk away from this accident. He's competing for a reserve spot with the Broncos. Right now, Royce Freeman and Devontae Booker should compete for the starting job. Henderson will be competing with Phillip Lindsay for a backup or change-of-pace job.

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson (ankle) is expected to return to practice Monday, July 31.

Broncos | Ankle injury for De'Angelo Henderson    Sat Jul 29, 10:06 PM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson's (ankle) ankle injury isn't considered serious, but he is likely to miss practice Sunday, July 30.

Footballguys view: Henderson had been getting some first-team reps with the Broncos. The rookie is a small, compact runner who uses agility and foot frequency to attack the linebacker level. We like him as a Branden Oliver-like back for the Broncos, but he could do more if called upon. Henderson is a sleeper to watch for -- especially in dynasty leagues.

  Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson works with first-team    Fri Jul 28, 09:58 PM

Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson briefly worked with the first-team offense during practice Friday, July 28.

Footballguys view: Message! Henderson is built like Maurice Jones-Drew, and is a compact runner with dynamic quickness and great foot frequency. He could be a Brandon Oliver-like prospect for the Broncos behind presumed starter C.J. Anderson.

Broncos | Denver plans on using RB committee in '17    Tue May 23, 12:36 AM

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph is planning on using a running-back-by-committee system in the upcoming season. 'You need two or three guys that can carry the load,' Joseph said. 'It is no longer a one-guy position. I'm excited to have Jamaal (Charles), C.J. (Anderson), (Devontae Booker), even De'Angelo (Henderson) in the mix there. It's a good group. It's going to be competitive, and that's the way it should be.'

Footballguys view: This is not news. The Broncos don't have a lead back as Anderson hasn't been able to stay healthy for a full 16 games. They'll use Charles (if healthy) as a change-of-pace back behind Anderson. Booker will be used as a spot runner and potential starter if Anderson is injured again. Anderson has the most fantasy value, and his current ADP is RB17 (4.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson signs deal    Wed May 10, 02:04 PM

Denver Broncos sixth-round draft choice RB De'Angelo Henderson signed his four-year contract Wednesday, May 10. The deal includes a $145,164 signing bonus but other financial information was not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Henderson is a compact runner who reminds some in the scouting community of Branden Oliver (Chargers). He's got incredible foot frequency and does a good job of maintaining speed through his cuts. Henderson is in a jam-packed backfield behind C.J. Anderson, Jamaal Charles and Devontae Booker. Throw in fullback Andy Janovich, and we may end up seeing Henderson put on the practice squad in 2017.
