Dolphins | Several candidates for No. 2 TE job Wed Jul 20, 12:41 PM
Miami Dolphins TEs Mickey Shuler, Jeron Mastrud, Dedrick Epps and Joey Haynos are expected to be candidates for the No. 2 tight end job during training camp.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins use their #2 TE a decent amount, but the most intriguing TE other than Anthony Fasano on their roster isn't even on that list. Sixth-round pick Charles Clay can play fullback, H-back, tight end, and wildcat QB, and he scored 38 touchdowns at Tulsa. |

Dolphins | Looking for a tight end in the NFL Draft Sun Mar 14, 12:27 PM
Barry Jackson, of The Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins may select a tight end during the middle rounds of the NFL Draft to compete with TE Anthony Fasano, a restricted free agent, and backup TE Joey Haynos.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins have been eyeing several NFL Draft prospects at the position and with good reason - this is a very deep tight end class. They could wait and draft a tight end like Andrew Quarless (Penn State) in the fifth or sixth-round and still get a playmaker. |

Dolphins | Haynos ready for elevated role Tue Nov 17, 03:31 PM
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Miami Dolphins TE Joey Haynos has shown that he is ready for his elevated role in the offense. 'I've seen it with my own eyes out there at times. Joey's had a big role in this Wildcat stuff, even when Fasano was there and having to make some of these critical edge blocks, and those type of things. Kind of learning how to play hand-in-hand with the tackles and do some of these things, so I've seen that kind of progress with him. You can see it on tape, he's getting better and better at it, and he's gone from one of these guys that you try and teach to block to a guy that's becoming a good blocker,' head coach Tony Sparano said.

Dolphins | Receiving little production from tight ends Sat Oct 31, 11:46 AM
David J. Neal, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins TEs Anthony Fasano and Joey Haynos have combined for 11 receptions and 115 yards with one touchdown so far this season. However, both tight ends have been solid blockers in the running game. According to head coach Tony Sparano, opponents have played their safeties down in the middle of the field, which doesn't allow the tight ends room to work the area without great effort. 'When you are running the ball as well as we are running the ball, not too many teams are going to sit there and say, 'Hey, we are going to put two of these guys deep and just try to stop this thing with seven guys,''' Sparano said. 'That is not what is happening.''

Dolphins | Loss of Martin could make team rely more on Fasano Tue Sep 8, 07:12 PM
Jeff Darlington, of the Miami Herald, speculates that Dolphins TE Anthony Fasano could have a larger role in the passing game and as a leader of the team in the wake of David Martin going on injured reserve. Second-year player Joey Haynos will take over Martin's role.
Footballguys view: Most of Fasano's fantasy value last year came in the form of touchdowns, but he could increase his reception total this year. |

Omar Kelly, of The South Florida SunSentinel, reports Miami Dolphins TEs Davon Drew, Joey Haynos and John Nalbone will compete for the team's No. 2 tight end position.
Footballguys view: Anthony Fasano's value gets a bump with the swapping out of the rookie Drew for the more experienced David Martin, but he's still not a starting quality fantasy TE. |
