Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman would not comment if the team is interested in free-agent WR Randy Moss (Titans) or DT Albert Haynesworth (Buccaneers) this offseason.

Footballguys view: The Eagles could have interest in both of the talented but controversial veterans. They are both street free agents and thus are free to sign with a team at any time. Free agency begins March 13th for players who are not street free agents.

Texans | Albert Haynesworth likes to hit Matt Schaub     Thu Nov 24, 10:14 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DL Albert Haynesworth did not sound too concerned when hearing the news that Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (foot) was placed on Injured Reserve. Schaub suffered the injury in a game Nov. 13, when Haynesworth landed on his foot. 'You know me, I love to hit Schaub,' Haynesworth said. Haynesworth has a habit of inflicting pain on Schaub, injuring him at least two other times while with the Tennessee Titans. When asked about landing on Schaub's foot, Haynesworth had no trouble recalling the play: 'It was on the goal-line. He actually screamed like normal in the pile,' Haynesworth said.

Footballguys view: We wouldn't expect Haynesworth to say anything different in this case. Another example of the brutal nature of the pile in the NFL.

Buccaneers | Ex-teammate calls out Albert Haynesworth     Tue Nov 22, 11:30 AM

Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley, a former teammates of Tampa Bay Buccaneers DL Albert Haynesworth, said Haynesworth does not really enjoy playing football despite his natural talent. 'The thing that I would think about Albert the way his last three years have played out, is that he hates football,' Cooley said. 'I'm not criticizing his character or his work or anything. My only assumption in this - and it's just an opinion - is that he does not like football, by what I've seen over the last three years. If he loved the game of football, he'd show up and love it.'

Footballguys view: There are some players who have incredible talent to play football, but little or no love for the game. It's not surprising that Haynesworth would be labeled as one of those guys.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Domnik said DL Albert Haynesworth will be on a short leash with the team. 'Sure it is,' Dominik said. 'He does have history, of course. But at the end of the day, you talk to anyone in the NFL, week to week, and you know you can be the hero one week, and be the villain the next. It's tough for any player under that scrutiny. But that's the nature of our business. He's gonna have a shorter leash, but if he's prepared and ready to play, he'll play.'

Buccaneers | Albert Haynesworth excited about opportunity    Thu Nov 10, 02:24 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DL Albert Haynesworth is excited about joining the Buccaneers, especially since he has great familiarity with the three technique defense that they employ. 'It feels great,' Haynesworth said. 'It's unbelievable. Just to get off the ball and wreak havoc. That's awesome. Everybody can say, 'Oh, you're in a 4-3 defense.' But just because you're in a 4-3 defense doesn't mean (it is) what I did in Tennessee.' Haynesworth said the coaches plan to play him immediately in Week 10 against the Houston Texans. However, head coach Raheem Morris is unsure of Haynesworth's immediate role.

Buccaneers | Injury led to Albert Hayensworth acquisition     Thu Nov 10, 09:10 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said the acquisition of DL Albert Haynesworth was made due to the injury to DL Gerald McCoy (biceps). 'I would say candidly that if Gerald wasn't hurt right now, I probably wouldn't do this move,' Dominik said. 'But because of the situation we're in, I felt Albert Haynesworth has the best ability of any defensive tackle out there. For us and for me, it made sense as an organization to bring him on board.'

Buccaneers | GM discusses Albert Haynesworth acquisition    Wed Nov 9, 11:08 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general Mark Dominik talked Wednesday, Nov. 9, about the team's acquisition of DL Albert Haynesworth. 'The need is important. I think a thing that I'm going to take to bank on a little bit here is that our defense and what we ask the 3-technique to do, regardless of what you've seen from Albert Haynesworth over the past couple of seasons, he's been more of a 3-4 defensive end who was two-gapping. We've always felt he's a 1-gap penetrator. It made sense to us, it made sense to me to put the claim in for a guy I think can help us in this second-half stretch.'

Footballguys view: It's a bold move for the Bucs, but one that was necessary after they lost DT Gerald McCoy for the season.

Buccaneers | Albert Haynesworth claimed off waivers    Wed Nov 9, 04:29 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers claimed DL Albert Haynesworth off waivers from the New England Patriots Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Footballguys view: With DT Gerald McCoy out for the season the Bucs needed to make a move. Haynesworth should get a lot of playing time in Tampa right away. The Bucs will now have to pick up the rest of his 2011 salary since they added him via waivers.

NFL | Albert Haynesworth unlikely to be claimed     Wed Nov 9, 10:05 AM

There does not appear to be a team willing to claim free-agent DL Albert Haynesworth (Patriots) off waivers at this point.

Footballguys view: Teams want no part of his current contract, and that's why no team is likely to put a claim in for Haynesworth. However, after 4pm ET today (if he clears waivers) then teams can begin negotiating with him as a free agent. Teams like the Eagles, Titans, and Lions could show interest.

New England Patriots DL Albert Haynesworth had his snaps limited, especially in crucial third-down running situations late in the team's Week 9 loss to the New York Giants, and head coach Bill Belichick said the reason 'was rotation-related.' 'We had a lot of defensive linemen active, so they played in different rotations,' Belichick said. 'Vince (Wilfork) is a guy, obviously, we don't want off the field, and they can't all play.
