NFL | Rodney Harrison says new rules would extend careers Wed Jun 27, 12:11 PM
Former NFL SS Rodney Harrison said he would likely have played 20 years in today's NFL - particularly under the new collective bargaining agreement, which limits offseason contact and shrinks practice windows. 'They've cut down on a lot of these hits in minicamps, training camps and padded practices and all the physical contact during the season,' Harrison said. 'If I were playing right now in this era, I could probably play 20 years because we wouldn't have all of those physical contact practices.'

Patriots | Rodney Harrison critical of Rob Gronkowski Thu Feb 9, 09:01 AM
Former NFL S and current NBC analyst Rodney Harrison said New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski 'disrespected himself' by dancing and taking off his shirt at the team's postgame party following the Super Bowl XLVI loss to the New York Giants. 'I guarantee you this, if Willie McGinest, Tedy Bruschi, Larry Izzo, Richard Seymour or myself had been at that party, (Gronkowski) probably would have got his head rung,' said Harrison, who admitted he has not seen the video or photos of Gronkowski dancing at the party. 'There's no reason for that to happen ... It's just immaturity. It's not right. He made a mistake and I'm sure he feels absolutely stupid about it at this point. There's a time and place for everything.'

Patriots | Rodney Harrison defends Tom Brady Wed Feb 8, 09:48 AM
Former New England Patriots SS Rodney Harrison, now an analyst for NBC, doesn't believe the heat QB Tom Brady is taking in New England and elsewhere following Super Bowl XLVI is justified. 'I don't think it's fair,' Harrison said. 'I think it ultimately comes down to 'team.' A lot of times, quarterbacks, as well as coaches, they get too much credit sometimes. But I don't think Tom should take the heat. He had opportunities to make some plays, and he did. Some guys dropped some balls, that's all part of football. They had opportunities. But I think it's just the media's way of saying, 'Finally, we get a chance to say something negative about him. Finally, we get a chance to torch him.''

Updating previous reports, Rachel Cohen, of The Associated Press, reports retired SS Rodney Harrison and former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy have been added to NBC's pregame program as analysts.
Footballguys view: Harrison got an early start on smack talking players from the booth when he slammed Peyton Manning at his press conference. Nice. We'll see if this backfires on him like it did when Tiki Barber ran his mouth about Eli Manning. |

Rodney Harrison player pagePatriots | Signing Taylor, Harrison still possible Wed May 6, 03:25 PM
John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, reports the New England Patriots could still sign unrestricted free-agent DE Jason Taylor (Redskins) and SS Rodney Harrison (Patriots).
Footballguys view: Taylor would make sense as a pass rushing specialist, and the Patriots are famous for getting the most out of older veterans. Harrison's best days are behind him so the Patriots could decide to move on without him. |
