NFL | Clay Harbor eyeing comeback    Sun Mar 24, 11:37 AM

Free-agent TE Clay Harbor (Saints) is attempting an NFL comeback and also appears to be open to changing his position to fullback.

Footballguys view: He has resumed training in the hopes of earning a workout with a team this offseason. Harbor plans to move on if he has not been signed by the time training camps open.

NFL | Clay Harbor healthy again    Tue Jun 12, 12:02 PM

Free-agent TE Clay Harbor (wrist) has fully recovered from a wrist injury he suffered while filming The Bachelorette.

Footballguys view: This is not a headline/story you normally see covering the NFL. Harbor last played for the Lions in 2016, and he spent last year on Injured Reserve with the Saints. A fourth-round pick (Eagles) out of Missouri State in 2010, Harbor is nearing the end of his pro chances.

Saints | More roster moves for Saints    Mon May 15, 05:58 PM

Free-agents OG Josh LeRibeus (Eagles), TE Clay Harbor (Lions) and OT Khalif Barnes (Saints) officially signed with the New Orleans Saints Monday, May 15.

Footballguys view: The Harbor move is the one to watch, but only in the deepest dynasty leagues. Harbor is an athletic move tight end, but he's bounced around the league and hasn't amounted to much as a pro. Anybody catching passes from QB Drew Brees gets our attention, so we'll watch Harbor to see how he competes behind Coby Fleener and Josh Hill.

Saints | Clay Harbor expected to sign    Sun May 14, 11:43 PM

Free-agent TE Clay Harbor (Lions) is expected to sign with the New Orleans Saints Monday, May 15, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Harbor is a move tight end, and that makes him an interesting fit on the Saints high-powered offense. However, he's never played up to his potential and has bounced around quite a bit during his pro career. Harbor (if/when added) is no lock for the 53-man roster.

Saints | New Orleans expected to add two tryout players    Sun May 14, 05:13 PM

Free-agent TE Clay Harbor (Lions) and OT Khalif Barnes (Saints) are expected to sign with the New Orleans Saints Monday, May 15, according to a source.

Footballguys view: A fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2010, Harbor has bounced around the league to more than a few teams. Harbor is an athletic move tight end, and it's interesting that he's likely to land with the Saints. However, they're packed at the position and he would be no lock for the 53-man roster.

Saints | Several veterans trying out for Saints    Sat May 13, 02:28 PM

Free-agent QB Matt Simms (Falcons), OT Khalif Barnes (Saints), TE Clay Harbor (Lions) and OT Bryce Harris (Dolphins) are participating in the New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp this weekend on a tryout basis.

Footballguys view: Harbor would be the only player of interest here...if he gets to stay as more than a tryout player. Anybody catching passes from QB Drew Brees will always get out attention.

Lions | Detroit agree to terms with Clay Harbor    Tue Oct 4, 12:31 PM

Free-agent TE Clay Harbor (Patriots) has agreed to an undisclosed contract with the Detroit Lions, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Harbor is a pass-catching TE who gives the Lions depth at the position. His fantasy value -- even in deep dynasty leagues -- is virtually non-existent.

Patriots | New England Week 1 inactives    Sun Sep 11, 07:28 PM

New England Patriots OG Jonathan Cooper, RB D.J. Foster, TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring), TE Clay Harbor, LB Elandon Roberts, CB Eric Rowe and OT Nate Solder are inactive for the Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Footballguys view: The Patriots are without two starting offensive linemen after an already tumultuous summer for the offensive line. Gronkowski being out also deprives them of a top-end blocker. The Cardinals are going to make things tough on Jimmy Garoppolo.

Patriots | Clay Harbor activated from PUP    Mon Aug 8, 12:52 AM

New England Patriots TE Clay Harbor (undisclosed) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list Sunday, Aug. 7.

Patriots | Two players officially sign    Mon Apr 4, 05:52 PM

New England Patriots DT Terrance Knighton and TE Clay Harbor officially signed with the Patriots Monday, April 4.

Footballguys view: Knighton is going to plug up the middle and play as a poor man's version of Vince Wilfork. Harbor is a reserve TE who has always teased with upside but never played up to his potential.

Patriots | New England adding Clay Harbor    Wed Mar 30, 06:00 PM

Free-agent TE Clay Harbor (Jaguars) agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with the New England Patriots Wednesday, March 30, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Harbor will give the Patriots a third tight end more in the H-back/move tight end mold to complement classic two way tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett. Look for the Patriots to run more two and three tight ends than any other team in the league.

Patriots | James Starks visiting Pats    Thu Mar 10, 03:52 PM

Free-agent RB James Starks (Packers) and TE Clay Harbor (Jaguars) are both visiting the New England Patriots Thursday, March 10.

Footballguys view: Starks perceives himself as a starter, but gets hurt too much and is a bit too limited to carry a full load. He could be a nice addition to the rotation New England tends to run though and a great fit if he's not the bell cow back.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor to have bigger role    Tue Sep 1, 08:27 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor will take on a bigger role in the offense with TE Julius Thomas (finger) set to miss up to a month of action to start the year.

Footballguys view: While he will see some more work, we still think Marcedes Lewis will see a greater amount. Neither one is going to put up close to the numbers Thomas would have and he'll be back soon enough to warrant not bothering with either. Mewis might work as a TE3 but Harbor is unlikely to move the needle at all.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor likely to be No. 2    Wed Jun 24, 10:43 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor (calf) missed most of organized team activities (OTAs) due to a calf injury. He is projected to be the front-runner to serve as backup to TE Julius Thomas.

Footballguys view: Harbor is a decent tight end with good hands and upside, but he isn't as good as Thomas (even if Thomas is losing Peyton Manning as his quarterback). Keep an eye on him, especially if Thomas gets banged up, as Harbor does have upside. Fantasy owners need to remember that Thomas has never played a full 16-game season in four years as a pro. Harbor could get a start or two here or there.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor expects to be at TC    Thu Jun 18, 09:14 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor (calf) said Thursday, June 18, he expects to be ready for the opening of training camp July 31.

Footballguys view: Harbor said he could probably play if there was a game this coming Sunday. With Julius Thomas added in free agency, the Jaguars won't be using Harbor that much this season. His dynasty stock is low as well until/unless he changes teams.

Jaguars | Jags' tight ends to be used often    Sun Jun 7, 08:57 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars TEs Marcedes Lewis and Clay Harbor will still have roles in the team's 2015 offense with plenty of two- and three-tight end sets to be used. "This system is very exciting," Harbor said. "It uses the tight ends a lot and it gives our [meeting] room more opportunities to make plays," said Harbor. TE Julius Thomas will be used as a 'move' tight end, with Lewis acting in a more traditional role and remaining on the line. Harbor will also be used as a 'move' tight end, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson.

Footballguys view: Out of all the tight ends in Jacksonville, Julius Thomas is going to see a majority of the targets. Lewis might get a tiny look in the red zone, and Harbor is just a backup. If Blake Bortles is throwing to a tight end, it's likely to be Thomas and that's why he's a TE1 for fantasy owners. Like Eric Decker (Jets) last year, expect the numbers for Thomas to dip as he's not snaring the rock from Peyton Manning anymore.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor has calf strain    Thu May 28, 11:36 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor (leg) is dealing with a calf strain.

Footballguys view: Harbor stepped up last season while Marcedes Lewis was hurt, but his numbers weren't anything to write home about. With Julius Thomas around, Harbor will likely be relegated to blocking and occasional sub-package work.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor demoted    Tue Nov 25, 01:23 PM

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis to return soon    Thu Nov 13, 05:26 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (ankle), who has been out since suffering a high left ankle sprain Sept. 14, is expected to be activated from the short-term Reserve/Injured list as soon as Monday, Nov. 17, when the team returns from the bye week.

Footballguys view: An interesting note for fantasy owners in deeper leagues. While Lewis has been out, TE Clay Harbor has caught 25 passes for 272 yards. Head coach Gus Bradley expects the team's blocking to improve when Lewis returns.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor set to make debut    Sat Sep 27, 12:37 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor (calf) returned to practice on a full-time basis this week, and he is expected to make his regular season debut in Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers. He suffered a calf injury July 28, and has been sidelined since.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars need help at the tight end position. Starter Marcedes Lewis (high ankle sprain) was lost to an injury earlier this year, and Harbor could be the primary tight end until Lewis returns. We're interested to see how new starter Blake Bortles distributes targets in Jacksonville. Harbor is an athletic move tight end, but he has little fantasy value as of right now.
