NFL | Ladarius Green hopes to play    Fri May 19, 05:49 PM

Free-agent TE Ladarius Green (Steelers) hopes to find a new team and play in 2017 after he was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a player that has talked with Green.

Footballguys view: That's cool, but he's got to be cleared from the concussion protocol first. The Steelers released him with a 'failed physical' designation and we can't see teams lining up for the tight end tease now that he's available. Perhaps something will open up for him around training camp.

Steelers | Ladarius Green released    Thu May 18, 03:19 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green was released Thursday, May 18.

Footballguys view: Not a shock given his concussion and ankle issues that held him to only six games last year. Green has always had the potential to do more, but he's been mostly a tease for fantasy owners. His future in the NFL may be coming to a close due to health problems. It will be interesting to see who the Steelers bring in to compete with Jesse James.

Steelers | Ladarius Green part of offseason work    Tue May 2, 05:47 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is participating in offseason activities.

Footballguys view: In arguably the best tight end class in NFL history, the Steelers passed on selecting one in the 2017 NFL draft. That's good news for Green...if he can stay healthy. His first season with the Steelers was mostly a wash due to injury. It's a good sign that he's out there during offseason activities, but make sure to monitor Green's progress as training camp and the season draws near.

Steelers | No hope for Ladarius Green?    Wed Apr 26, 09:05 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers do not appear to have much faith in TE Ladarius Green producing for them, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Footballguys view: Jesse James is in line to be the starter with Xavier Grimble coming on as a receiving tight end. Don't be surprised if the Steelers take a receiving tight end this weekend. They have been linked to Ole Miss TE Evan Engram in the first round more often as the draft has gotten closer.

Steelers | Ladarius Green plans to be at workouts    Fri Mar 17, 06:36 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) said he expects to participate in the offseason workouts and is excited to return.

Footballguys view: Green looked good, but he only lasted six games in his first season with the Steelers last year. He's yet to be cleared medically, but we should know more about the situation when OTAs begin in April.

Steelers | Pittsburgh expects Ladarius Green back    Fri Feb 17, 10:39 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is expected to be ready for the start of spring practice, according to general manager Kevin Colbert.

Footballguys view: Green's situation is one to watch, and one to be excited about if he's healthy. He has not been cleared from a concussion he sustained back in Week 15. This offseason, the Steelers should keep him severely limited so that he'll be fresh for the start of training camp.

Steelers | Ladarius Green yet to be cleared    Thu Feb 16, 08:48 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green is not currently in the NFL's concussion protocol, but he's yet to be cleared from a concussion that he sustained in the team's Week 15 game opposite the Cincinnati Bengals.

Footballguys view: This is a pretty bad sign. Is this enough to keep him off the field long term? We're tending to think so, given how teams have handled situations like this. Green showed flashes of production this season, but injuries once again derailed his efforts.

Steelers | Ladarius Green likely to stay put?    Tue Feb 14, 11:38 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green is likely to remain on the roster, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, who believes there is 'no reason for them not to bring him back.' He added: 'His health will determine what happens from there.'

Footballguys view: Green flashed ever so briefly in his first season with the Steelers. He was bothered by various injuries and couldn't do much outside of five games. If healthy, Green can be a dangerous weapon for the Steelers high-powered passing attack.

Steelers | PIT can save cap space if Ladarius Green cut    Sun Feb 12, 06:13 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers could save $5 million in salary cap space if they released TE Ladarius Green (concussion) with a post-June 1 designation.

Footballguys view: Green wasn't healthy in 2016, and was limited to only six games in his first season with the Steelers. He was effective in a couple of those games, and Green showed the ability to be a dangerous weapon within the offense. Green was rumored to be considering retirement before ever playing a down in Pittsburgh, and those rumors might fire up again this offseason.

Steelers | Ladarius Green's future with Steelers in question    Tue Jan 31, 04:11 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green has 'physical conditions' the Steelers need to evaluate this offseason, according to owner Art Rooney. Rooney was non-committal on Green's future in Pittsburgh.

Footballguys view: The Steelers have never confirmed that a concussion kept Green out of camp, offseason activities, and half of the season, but it is clear that concussion issues are threatening his career after his latest one ended his season. Jesse James should be considered the likely starter at tight end next season.

Steelers | Ladarius Green may not stick around    Sun Jan 29, 01:36 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green could be released before the start of the 2017 season, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Footballguys view: Green has a $6.1 million cap number in 2017, and there's $3.5 million remaining in dead money. He's a talented player who can create mismatches anytime he's on the field, but Green's first season with the Steelers was marred by injuries. He was limited to 10 games this year and missed the postseason run due to a concussion suffered in Week 15.

Steelers | Ladarius Green not retiring    Mon Jan 23, 04:34 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) would like to return to the Steelers next season. He is not considering retirement despite suffering multiple concussions with multiple teams. 'Frustrating season, but everybody has one,' Green said. 'I hope it's the only one I have. I'm going to go train as soon as I get home, and hopefully next season works out a lot better.'

Footballguys view: Green was limited to only six games in his first season with the Steelers. An incredible receiving weapon when healthy, Green battled with this concussion since he suffered the injury in Week 15. He's under contract through 2019, and Green has a cap number of $5 million in 2017.

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is not expected to play in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 22, against the New England Patriots, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Footballguys view: It would be helpful to have a weapon like Green on the field against a high-powered Patriots team, but there's no way the Steelers are going to rush Green back into action. He's been out since Week 16 and may not even be ready if the Steelers were to make it to the Super Bowl.
