Seahawks | E. Green worked out Wed Sep 16, 09:34 AM
Adam Caplan, reporting for Scout.com, reports the Seattle Seahawks worked out free-agent CB Eric Green (49ers) Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Footballguys view: Green was originally signed by the Dolphins in the offseason to compete for a starting job, but he struggled in OTAs and training camp. |

49ers | Announce roster moves Sat Sep 5, 05:31 PM
SF49ers.com reports the San Francisco 49ers have waived OT Jacob Bender, OT Alex Boone, WR Dobson Collins, DE Pannel Egboh, TE Joe Jon Finley, CB Eric Green, OG Kyle Howard, CB Terrail Lambert, FB Brit Miller, DT Khalif Mitchell, LB Jay Moore, TE Bear Pascoe, WR Maurice Price, FB William Rentmeester, LB Justin Roland, RB Kory Sheets, C Matt Spanos, OT Joe Toledo, LB Mark Washington and WR Dominique Zeigler.
Footballguys view: Zeigler was having a great camp and preseason, but it looks like it's back to the practice squad for him. The 49ers decided to keep Jason Hill and Michael Spurlock instead. Sheets was also drawing raves, but the team decided to only keep two true tailbacks in Frank Gore and Glen Coffee. Kory Sheets ran with authority this preseason, and has one of the best stiff arms in the game. He is a prime candidate for the 49ers practice squad as well. |

Dolphins | Green released Wed Aug 19, 05:11 PM
Brad Biggs, of The National Football Post, reports the Miami Dolphins have released CB Eric Green.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins signed Green to a 2-year, $6 million dollar deal back in March, but he did not perform well in training camp - or the Dolphins preseason game against Jacksonville. The Dolphins addressed their needs at cornerback in the draft by selecting Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. At this time it looks like Smith is a lock to make the starting lineup opposite Will Allen. |

Dolphins | S. Smith works with first-team defense Monday Mon Aug 10, 08:56 PM
Jeff Darlington, of The Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins CB Sean Smith worked with the first-team defense Monday, Aug. 10, in place of CB Eric Green. Green worked with the second-team defense.
Footballguys view: Sean Smith is so big that he looks like he should be playing safety, but he's fast enough to play corner in the NFL. He is physical at the line of scrimmage and can make athletic plays on the football that defy his size. Smith struggles with covering smaller receivers, but can lock down bigger targets. |

Dolphins | Remain interested in adding a cornerback? Wed Jul 8, 12:12 PM
Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins have kept tabs and spoken casually with agents about a few unsigned cornerbacks, primarily free-agent CBs Mike McKenzie (Saints) and Travis Fisher (Lions), in case there are injuries in training camp or if CBs Eric Green, Sean Smith and Vontae Davis struggle.
Footballguys view: Eric Green struggled mightily in OTAs, and starting a rookie at cornerback is never a good idea, especially when you face Tom Brady twice a year. The Dolphins would be wise to take a look at McKenzie, Fisher or former Raven Chris McAlister. |

Dolphins | Competition at cornerback Mon Jun 22, 10:41 AM
Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins CBs Eric Green, Sean Smith and Vontae Davis are in competition for a starting cornerback job opposite CB Will D. Allen.
Footballguys view: According to Salguero, none of the 3 have distinguished themselves as the frontrunner, so the competition is wide open. There's plenty to like about each of these players - Smith is a tall, physical corner that can blanket big receivers, Davis is a freakishly athletic corner with the best upside out of the group, and Green is the veteran who has improved instincts but needs to play with more physicality. |

Dolphins | Green has added muscle Wed May 27, 05:56 PM
Omar Kelly, of the South Florida SunSentinel, reports Miami Dolphins CB Eric Green has added 10 pounds of muscle and believes it should help him on the football field.
Footballguys view: Green reportedly threw up after every training session from last week. Sounds like the Big Tuna is running the "puke squad" for new Dolphins players. |

Dolphins | Green believes he has upper hand for starting job Wed May 13, 02:52 PM
Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins CB Eric Green said he believes he has the advantage over rookie CBs Vontae Davis and Sean Smith for the starting cornerback job because he has more experience than the other two.
Footballguys view: Green will face some serious competition from the rookies. Vontae Davis is a freakishly athletic player like his brother, San Francisco TE Vernon Davis. Sean Smith is very athletic and has unusual size for a CB. We'll see how this battle unfolds in training camp. |
